GOG sent me an e-mail that I can get the remastered D&D games for 85%.

    Worth it?

It's worth it in the sense if you don't have originals and that's the only way to get them digitally nowadays. I got this offer as well. Here's the code if someone is interested -

From the first post in this thread with added emphasis...

Even the installers GOG uses were made by others i.e. innosetup, mojosetup.
It's nice to see it available again but let's not get too excited about what GOG do 99% of the time.

There are lots of reasons not to give Beamdog any money at all.

That said... I may have thrown $15 their way in an act of drunken sillyness, so someone over there can at least afford a drink at my expense. :martini:

Of course it's worth it! Grab the 2 BGs, IWD and PST. NWN is a wreck of a port in terms of performance and actual QoL enhancements.

IWD and PST are the only EEs that are worth it really.

Doesn't every EE come with original version included in extras?

Hm, i never checked, but i doubt you can't find the originals online somewhere, most likely on some torrent site.

GOG definitely relies on the community a lot. They have done some of their own nice work to get wonky games working though. I believe they got Shadows of the Empire working again for example, and I know for a fact it was impossible to run on Windows 7 before that.

I was always wondering how does Arabian Nights compare to modern Prince of Persia trilogy (Sands of Time and beyond).
Hexplorer and Submarine Titans grabbed, more than a decade since my last playthroughs.

Arabian Nights is usually being speedran in the "bad games done quick" section of GDQ if I'm not mistaken.

    Is Hexplore any good?

I see it's on my chronological play list with a "N/A" next to it.

Oh shit Hexplore! I remember fondly the demo I played as a teen. I might check it out see if the impression wasn't just me not knowing better.

I just watched 10 minutes of Hexplore on Youtube and it looked pretty simplistic and bad to me. Maybe will watch more later, but... don't look like my thing.

Good for what it was. Pretty innovative for hns of its time - 3d, party based and had this amusing idea of kill xp as a consumable drop. Not exactly a game I'm eager to replay though.

Heh. I just dug out my old Hexplore CD a couple weeks ago. Primitive, corny and fun in short bursts. Don't expect any depth though.

    The Legacy is awesome.
