Witcher 2 sold about 4x as much on steam as on gog. That was with a heavy push by cdpr to sell the gog version.

It was more like 10x, from what I remember. Their press release said something about 300,000 on Steam and 30,000 on GOG. And like 500,000 in disc form, which shows how Euro-focused the PC market and RPG market is in general since PC games in boxes is a cruel joke in the US.

GOG's portion might have gone up with all the sales and shit though.

Looks like you got Duke Nukem and the shooters instead. I'm going to give Lo Wang a go.

According to wikipedia, when they had 250k sales, it was 200k through steam, 40k through gog and 10k through others.

They're up to 5 million sales total now though, so who knows.

I was always interested in Rise of the Triad, though I never got around to actually playing it. Looking at this list and the screenshots at Gog.com, I now think Shadow Warrior (which I hadn't heard of until now) looks to be the better game of the two.

I played and loved Terminal Velocity. Spent a lot of time killing everything I could find on screen.

Technically it isn't abandonware any more if they start selling it again. But I still think it is stupid since you're basically just giving dosh to poles who installs dosbox for you and the current rights holder. I don't buy older games when the devs aren't in business any more out of principle. When you pay for a product most if not all of the money should go to the workers who made it. :communist:

Make sure your money goes to everyone who ever worked on the game.

Yeah, the consumer don't really have much control over that due to the system and a more pragmatic approach is probably wise in general. But that is beyond the point, when buying many of the games on gog none of the devs see a dime.

You're paying for the service of packing up everything (patches, content, extras) and making it a simple Win7 installer. If that isn't worth money to you then don't shop there.

I don't think anyone is saying "shop on GOG to support people that had nothing to do with making the game!"

I think I remember seeing a list of some sort detailing where the money goes, it was quite some time ago though and I cannot find it anymore.

  21. All games.*

*Provided you buy them if you like them/play them a great deal. Playing 100 hours of Skyrim before declaring it's shit doesn't count, but playing 5 hours and finishing Spec Ops then declaring it shit does. Also if the game isn't on Steam then it's free for the taking, of course.

    Bought half of them.
Terminal Volocity is a game I wish I knew about back then.
Duke Nukem 3D looks like the only interstesting Duke Nukem game. The rest are platform games, a genre that didn't even interest me when I was a little snotling.
Blake Stone uses the Wolfenstein engine, which is just too primitive even for a relic like me.
Rise of the Tirad and Shadow Warrior look like they may be worth the 3 bucks.
