After four different representatives of GOG have written me once a week for over three years asking to publish Grimoire when it was ready, they have turned it down for publishing.

It appears the endless action of SJWs on GOG have succeeded in making it verboten there.

I got a private email from somebody else at the company who told me that management has changed dramatically there and political viewpoints are a prime driver of decision making now, whereas in the past they just cared about publishing good retro games. I also learned that all the people I have dealt with in the past no longer work there.

GOG was just the first on my list of 18 other digital distribution platforms I am taking Grimoire to this month. Because staff there had been begging me for three years to publish it, I thought I'd check them off first. I am just continuing from there but it was sort of a surprise. GOG was originally started to publish games exactly like Grimoire before they became so successful.

Here's the reply I got from them when I felt I had a good enough version to publish it on GOG with the manual :

    Hello,

    I'm sorry for late reply.

Thanks a lot for your submission and your interest in GOG.

We’ve taken a look at Grimoire, it looks like a rich RPG game, with complex combat, deep lore, fun mechanics and simple, yet eye-catching retro graphics.

Unfortunately, however, we feel that the game would not be a good fit for GOG, as we think that it appears to be too niche and a bit too small in scale in terms of production value for our users, which means that we aren’t confident in its release potential on our site.

For these reasons I’m afraid we will have to pass on Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar.

If you have any other games in the future that might be a better fit for GOG, please let us know, and hopefully we’ll be able to work together.

    Regards,
    Dr Cat

the one site built off of old wizardry and classic crpgs can't accept the one indie game that successfully captured the era...pathetic.

It's bad news but what the fuck informs the opinion that it's some SJW conspiracy and not purely economical - I,e the cost of adding it will not be worth the sales. Especially given that they freely add all kinds of non pc games all the time. The idea of niche is relative. Would it be worth adding some rando game that will have grand total of 5 people buying it?

I mean better, more popular indie games have been rejected by GOG Cleve.

A blobber with Mixed Steam review with less than 1000 reviews are hardly worth their time. GOG isnt about publishing old styled game only anymore, they want to be a legit Storefront and Grimoire is a noise in their catalogue like some Rpg Maker shovel ware in Steam

    ...what.

This thread reminded me that GOG killed gogmix and their site is garbage.

Remove all game play for GOG version, non games and walking simulators seem to be popular there.

Yeah, GOG has become SJW so the only reason to buy there is the non-Galaxy option to download games. As soon as they will remove that option (and it will happen sooner or later with how things are going) there will be no difference between them and (((Steam))).
QFT. And add to this JudasIscariot being forbidden to post here.

And yes, they're lying about game being too niche since on GOG there are many games which sell worse than Grimoire would. Also, Grimoire has over 600 votes on whishlist which is substantial, Age of Decadence had 473 votes in comparison.

Announce that some of the characters/monsters in the game are LGBT then resubmit the game.

Yep. Games far more popular and better reviewed than Grimoire have been rejected by GOG for being too niche.

Dr Cat? David Shapiro works at GOG?
    This guy?

In Furcadia, his character goes by the name "Felorin". Furcadia holds a Guinness World Record for its longevity. [5]

He has worked (in various capacities) for Origin and MicroProse, among others.[1]Notable titles he has significantly contributed to include the Ultima series.[1]

Dr. Cat also worked at Lolapps, Inc. on the game Ravenwood Fair.[6]

I just bought the game on Steam for only 36 PLN (it's 50% off for some reason).

Examples? And even if you're right, such curation doesn't make any sense. It's not like having Grimoire on their servers generates any cost for them (the people that would buy the game would cover that cost with huge margin) precisely because it's an indie game. Instead of making their library more vast they're using some arbitrary rules that make no sense whatsoever.

Completely absurd to criticize Grimoire for supposedly being small in scale, of all things. Only a miniscule portion of GOG's current offerings can rival Grimoire in scope.

Look, Cleve, folks, I won't pretend I own or played Grimoire (I did expose a colleague from work to it and even though he's not a huge CRPG fan, he actually bought it to support Cleve's dream, vision and ambition), but I have a fairly decent idea of what the game is and...

I just felt I had to drop a few lines here and say that the attitude and condescension in that GoG email is disgusting. I've been reluctant to spend my money there for other reasons but this is the tipping point. It seems I will eventually have to pirate 2077 and never spend another dime on their increasingly shittier storefront.

If that counts for anything, Cleve, you have my full moral support.
