Incline Gothic turns 15 years

Guys I've got one month of free time. I wish to experience Gothic 1 and 2.

So, tell me which mods you would suggest me to use (for both!).

If you have Steam version, just follow modding guides from their forum, as they've shared links to PlayerKit and System Pack, which is literally all you need to run the games on modern machine. Other than that use texture packs all you want for Gothic 1 (like Multidirectional shared, I personally go for Carnage Patch and Artemiano), but ignore texture packs for Gothic 2 because the game already looks fantastic on its own.

Can anyone help me out on Gothic 2? I am in chapter 3 now and I am trying to restore the power of the Eye of Innos, but I can't do it because I am supposed to do the quest "Relief for Vatras" first. I think I am supposed to go to Jharkendar to complete this quest, but I can't do that either because I have not a single clue where or how I am supposed to get there.

There's even a diary entry for entering the portal and finding Raven or some shit, but nothing about WHERE this portal is.

I only ever played with russian localization, so some names might be messed up.

On your way to Khorinish help Kavalorne and take his message to Vatras, ask Vatras every possible question about water ring and water mages, also ask him about missing people and bandit weapon supplier. Vatras will give you ornament and send you to Lares, Lares wants you to find a man to replace him on his post, equip aqumarine ring and go to Beltram. Return to Lares and tell him you've done his task, now he can escort you to water mages camp where the portal is located, talk to every water mage you see, one of them will tell you about the ornaments and how they should form a key to open a portal, he will also give you a map and tell you how where and how to obtain them. Collect ornaments, find out what happened to missing people and deal with bandit weapon supplier, return with ornaments to water mages so they can repair the key. Congrats!

I don't have time now to go into details, but I hope that it will give you a kick in the right direction. No idea how you got to chapter 3 and haven't even found the portal, didn't you feel like exploring the lands ?

Done everything up to this. I cannot progress from here, as Lares lacks any dialogue options for leading me to the portal, I can only ask him for news which mentions Bennet who repaired the Eye of Innos for me and teaching. I looked at a video of where the portal is supposed to be, but the door to it is locked, I can cheat through it by using Marvin. I also have the ornament I think. I guess I will just have to cheat through the door as I have no other option at all anymore.

Have you asked Lares to escort you to Onar farm, the guy who hired mercs ? One of the most infamous bugs on Gothic II NotR is Lares bug - if you ask him to escort you to Onar he wil brake and won't escort you anywhere else. It is fixed by fan patches and I've never played without them, I don't know if you installed them and I guess if you encountered this bug it breaks "water ring" quest chain completely.

I read about that bug. I don't think I ever actually had him escort me anywhere though. I might have asked, but I never went with him.

I think I can. I used cheats to teleport through the door to the portal near the tavern, which lead me inside the pyramid thing.

Oh and yeah everything seems to work fine now. I marvin'd my way through the door and got all the fragments. I had 2 when I talked to the mages, despite only knowingly having 1. I got no idea where I got the second one. Apparently Lares is supposed to give you one? Not a clue, anyway I got all of them and went there, the add on world is pretty great so far, lots of gold and experience to be earned. Got 146 mana points so far at level 19 in the third circle of magic, apparently there are 3 Elixirs of Spirit in Jharkendar but I have yet to find any. I have a hunch that at least one of them is in Greg's buried loot, which I intend to get all of.
Mana potions are not cheap, when I came to this area I only had 100 gold left. Kinda wanna use a guide to get as much King's Sorrel as possible but at the same time that feels kinda cheaty. But at the same time it also feels like I am underpowered now, and it would only get worse as time goes on.
Fighting seekers is also a real pain in the ass. I think they have a big resistance against fire damage and therefore my general purpose killing spell, the fireball, so the most effective way I have found of killing them is using 2 fully charged Wind Fist blasts, although with my limited mana I still have to hide behind a tree to drink some potions and then tank a few fireballs, pray they don't use anything more powerful than fireballs and release the second fully charged Wind Fist. My Fear spell also works on them, which is really useful and allowed me to rescue Vino and Cavalorn without them or me getting killed.
Also, fuck Canthar. That guy is a dick, I gave him his 500 gold so I could trade, attacked him and then finished him off behind a tree. No one saw me behind there so I got my revenge. Unfortunately he didn't carry the 500 gold on his body, but I got the money back from taking his forged mining shares and giving them to Serpentes.

Think I encountered another bug, or I somehow softlocked myself. I am at chapter 4 now and my eye of innos is faded and powerless, going by the description. Problem here is, I can't recharge it without killing a dragon, but I can't kill a dragon without a charged eye of innos. I have a save before talking the the fire dragon, where if I check my inventory it says it is charged, but after talking to the fire dragon it says that it is powerless and I will not survive the next day. What am I supposed to do here? Am I not supposed to go to the fire dragon?

Okay, this is fucking weird. If I DON'T talk to the dragon and just attack him, he won't regenerate his health and my Eye will stay charged, I killed him of course.

Those shitty dragon fights we're all glitched when I played Gothic 2, I was looking forward to them but they're fucked up. Summoning skeletons whether you're a warrior or sorceror is the best go.

Yeah they seem pretty busted. I've gotten 2 down, I hope that there is only one left but I am unsure.
I only have goblin skeleton summons right now, but I can go back to the monastery and learn skeleton summoning. I got plenty of mana potions now so it shouldn't be a problem.

My cheesy min maximus paladin with ~276 str killed them in a couple flicks of the wrist therefore combat is shit.
