I'm talking about variety in the game itself.

I'm not excited by having only densely populated and virtually unpopulated areas to play around in and explore.

Personally, I'm not worried too much about that. I don't know if you've played Red Dead Redemption, but that game was nothing but wilderness and a few low populated towns. It was still fun as fuck though, with a lot to do and explore with side content appropriate for the setting. If Rockstar can recapture that experience with the rural areas in GTA5 I'll be happy. Hopefully they will.

Bullshit, it was 25fps average at best, had a massive and ugly blur filter on it to cover low resolution and had the equivalent of minimum draw distance on the PC. I mean if it was fine for you great, I wish it was fine for me, but it isn't.

It still amuses me that every GTA game is set on an island stranded out in the middle of nowhere. You'd think Rockstar would find a better way to suspend disbelief with respect to map limits, even if it's just impassable mountains or something.

The way people rage at invisible walls in Bethesda games, can you blame them?

Impassable mountains are worse than invisible walls. The latter I can interpret as a videogame thing and simply ignore it (like continuing after death), but a city completely surrounded by natural obstacles will damage the suspension of disbelief whenever I look at the horizon and see I'm inside some weird, unreachable pocket dimension.

Bethtards complain about impassable mountains as well as invisible walls.

The only conclusion I can come up with is that they want a game with limitless content.

It should also be noted that GTA5 has underwater exploration. If you look at the map, you can see a lot of land under shallow water surrounding the map, you'll be able to explore most of that with scuba gear and find treasure and stuff. So it's for more than just map limit size, I assume.

I haven't been following this game, but one of the main characters has kids right?

Are they going to be the ONLY characters in the game under 18?

Michael is the mc with a son and daughter. They're not actually children though, they look like they're in their late teens. His son is actually an obnoxious manchild and daughter is a spoiled brat/slut and they treat their dad like shit; same goes for his wife. Hoping for a mission where Michael finally snaps and ends them.

I've got Blaine on ignore, does that mean "Blaine County" will be a huge empty hole in my copy of the game?

Does anyone complain about infinite oceans like in Morrowind? (Not actually infinite, you come back in from the opposite side of the map after a while)

I'm surprised they didn't mark Grove Street on the map there.

Sent next game in a glorious Slavic country and evil capitalist scum block the border.

Or maybe set it in North Korea.

Infinite sea is probably the best way to go with open worlds. You know where the content ends, and it doesn't stop you from cruising away from shore with your jet for a while. Infinitely better than "You can't go that way. Turn back"-messages and invisible walls.

I'm not too keen on placing the world inside a giant crater.

I'd vote for Baghdad. With infinite desert instead of infinite sea.

That would actually be a pretty neat setting. Even when they'd had to replace all the different cars with white toyotas and donkey carts.

A city's outskirts tends to be relatively empty, lacking points of interest. Make it so the invisible wall is far enough into boringville wilderness (Bethesda does this, for example) and players most likely won't ever bump into it unless they're trying to.

Gotta love all the 'leak footage' floating around at the moment. They're actually GTA IV with parts of the San Andreas country-side modded in and content created by other folks. With a crap load of visual tweaks, of course. Watched some of them weeks ago during the last wave of hoax attempts. Most of the livestreams (including the one that got NeoGaf for all of a page) used footage from these.

Someone put San Andreas through the Rage engine years ago.
