    There's <A href="http://www.withingames.net/index.php?show=articles&type=showspecial&id=69&site=1">an interview</a> over at <A href="http://www.withingames.net/">WithinGames</a> talking to <A href="http://www.emogence.com/">Emogence</a>'s <b>Herb Marselas</b> about their first person RPG in the works, <i>Grefan</i>. Here's a clip:
    <br>
    <br>
    <blockquote><b>(6) A lot of rpgs actually has the feature to team up with other characters to form a party but in shooters the player himself in general is a one-man-show. How does it work in Grafan?
    <br>
    <br>
    Herb Marselas:</b> We haven´t discussed specific elements of gameplay, but suffice it to say that from many late nights playing computer and paper RPGs with our friends that we understand how important good parties can be and how they can add to the gameplay experience.</blockquote>
    <br>
    <br>
    You know, you'd think this would be something to discuss before you have screenshots of your custom engine on the internet.
    <br>
    <br>
    Thanks, <b>mithrandir</b>!

    Hmm, these folks might just fold up before doing anything.

    Its one think to realize one day that 'Hey, we can do graphics'
    Soon they will realize they don't know jack about everything else involved in making a game, and surprisingly, that its harder than they thought.

    They know a lot about making games. They know that there are classes, skills, and itamz, and when you put them all together you get awesome gameplay :lol:

    Its kinda weird that they'd state they know that its important, that they spend time researching it, but then don't have an answer for interviewers.

    Yeah, I have a hard time imagining a company making a CRPG by making an engine and some levels, THEN deciding on how the CRPG will be. You'd think that when they were making the game, they'd decide what they wanted and tailor the engine according to that. Even have some rudementary gameplay things in place while the engine was being developed.

    That's a result of gaming industry slapping the RPG sticker on every other game. So now there are people who think that RPG=FPS with stats and loot.

    Hilarious. One of our guys suggested they might be trying to flog their engine rather than the game itself.

    That reminds me, anyone heard anything from the Trinity-making folks lately?

    And is it Grafan or Grefan after all?
