The only thing they can do right is make multiplayer work again. The game code was never meant for fast processors and was somehow clocked to the standard ones at the time, so speed on modern machines is completely fucked up. In singleplayer its still manageable but multiplayer is beyond salvation. I think the sierra sim builders suffered from that as well.

Damn right KoolNoodles

An early 3D RTS where the 3D was actually meaningful. Warrior Kings was released in a time when 3D meant the game looked like shit, performed like shit, and could support less units on screen than its 2D counterparts. And yet this game had none of those problems. Good unit design, plenty of units on screen, decent performance, and the 3D elevation had a tactical impact on gameplay. Buggy as fuck though.

Can anyone recommend other RTS games like this? By which I mean solid RTS games with relatively complex base-building mechanics. The only thing I can think of off-hand is the Stronghold series. The norm is reasonably solid RTS combat with shitty base-building, or full-blown city builders with really shitty RTS mechanics tacked on.

I've been playing Cossacks and making novel single player scenarios around the time this forum was created. What they are making looks like a port of Cossacks I assets to the Cossacks II engine, which is great. Anything extra they do besides porting will be welcome.

From what I saw on their official forums they will have better mod support this time and release more modding tools.

I refuse to pay for this unless Ukraine is made as unique as it was in the first Cossacks game.

Ukrainians produce five unique units - the Ukrainian Peasant, Serdiuk (shooter), and Cossack units. Ukrainian Peasant is only peasant that can not be captured. The Serdiuks are the only type of infantry that the Ukrainians can produce other than mercenaries. Ukraine is also unable to advance into the next century, much like the Muslim nations. Ukrainian Serdiuks are supposedly mercenaries themselves under the command of the Cossack Hetman, but ironically, it is the Hetman that requires gold upkeep. The other two Ukrainian unique units are the regular Sich and Register Cossacks. Sich Cossacks are the fastest cavalry units in the game, and are best used for harassing the enemy and raids. Register Cossacks are designed to mow down infantry, and are created fairly quickly. Hetman commanders are expensive, however, hetmans have a very high attack.

Release date announced: 20th of September

Today GSC Game World announces the release date of the sequel to the award winning Cossacks series, Cossacks 3. It will launch worldwide on the 20th of September 2016, exclusively for PC at retail. Leaning on the history of the 17th and 18th century, the real time strategy game awakens colossal mass battles with up to 10,000 soldiers simultaneously on the battlefield.

This remake of the classic game, that originally launched in 2000, contains all of the elements that distinguish the successful Cossacks games and combines them with contemporary 3D-graphics. Cossacks 3 provides the player with infinite tactical options, including not only the construction of buildings, the production of raw materials, but also the broad selection of various units and the influence of the landscape.
