Have any of the builds of Duke Nukem Forever ever leaked?

He's probably worried about a half-finished and shitty Duke game hurting the brand, like Forever already did. I'd guess he has his eyes on a future comeback for the franchise, deluded or not.

I don't think its about the state of the game. That 2001 build cannot be any worse than the DNF we have now. Its more than that. I think its about his ego. He seems so full of himself whenever he responds to anything.

imagine randy pitchford worrying about releasing a potentially shitty game when he is the king of stupid, shitty games. it feels more like he worries about accidentally releasing a good one

I think you're right. (They did Alien Colonial Marines as well)

Randy Pitchford cares about money, and would do a revenue calculation on the impact of releasing another half-finished Duke game versus letting the brand rest while he plots a comeback.

Pitchfork should make a new digital store called GearStore. Would be a great competition to Sweeney/EpicStore.

Oh no, not another one... please.. It's already bad enough we got Epic, Origin, Uplay, Gog, Bethesda.net, Blizzard. Can't we all just get along and play on Steam instead ?

Codex 2014 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex USB, 2014 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
Golden! Bitchfraud is the main roadblock, but instead he shirks off responsibility to anyone and everyone else (2K, the old team at 3D Realms) and then has the gall to lecture people on morals and ethics.

The guy the pulled off a number like Colonial Marines. He sure is one to talk about ethics.

What a cunt!

I hope that stuff gets leaked. Or Gearbox goes out of business and the Duke IP ends up with a less shitty company.

I regret learning about this. The very notion that a potentially superior iteration of DNF is being held hostage pisses me off.

you could even say it grinds my gearbox

Has Randy Pitchford done anything decent this last few years that ultimately didn't give him and Gearbox negative PR?

I swear the guy can't go 5 minutes without being an asshole and people being mad at him.

Well.. the fact that people are negative as hell nowadays and many just look to get offended and start arguments about anything, doesn't help. Looking back at his twitter posts, he does seem like he is a bit of a hothead.

The last point Pitchford makes in a video about people who worked on DNF should decide is such a bullshit. Legally, they can't decide shit, only Gearbox can. For many devs who worked on DNF the main problem was lack of portfolio to show. They sure wouldn't mind if this stuff was released in some form. Portfolio-wise it might not matter now, but your work being out in the wild wouldn't be a bad thing.
Pitchford just doesn't want to do it. And that's it. Because legally, he needs to pull most of it. And he doesn't want to. At least release it for historic value and be done with it.

Here's a tweet with the excerpt of Randy's excuse after leading people on with promises for 4 years.
https://twitter.com/juanlurve/status/1228462021470851072

The funny thing about this is...Charlie Wiederhold and Matt Wood who worked on Duke Nukem Forever back then have both said multiple times on Twitter and forums they'd like to see this content released...but Randy's excuse is "it's immoral and should be up to the people who worked on it"...Randy really is full of crap...

Here's Matt Wood on Twitter and Charlie Wiederhold on the Duke4.net forums...they sure seem like they don't want it released!

I believe at this point the only way any of this will ever be released is if there's a leak from 3D Realms\SlipGate Studios or Gearbox, or if someone hacks Fred from 3D Realms or something crazy like that. Randy sure has no plans to ever release anything. It falls in line with his long history of failed promises and bullshit.

Got a similar itch in my brain over this as I had over City of Heroes having a secret private server for nearly a decade. Much like that, there is but one reprobate's ego holding us back from the files. Unlike CoH, I'm not as angry over this. Also, unlike CoH this probably isn't going to get leaked like the CoH source code ended up being after that argie shitter wouldn't give up the keys to his cult.

If we finally are going to get to play the DNF of the 2001 trailer then I'm hyped, mate. That gameplay video looks sick. Not going to get my hopes up before I have it on my hard drive though.

The screenshots look better graphically than the final release DNF did.
