IGN has a brief and mostly pointless preview of Hellgate London. The intro paragraph talks about how the author and his buddy couldn't find anyone to talk to since they don't understand Japanese, so they just walked around and killed monsters. The rest of it reads like they weren't joking in the first paragraph, i.e. Green swords make poison! I did find something interesting out of looking at the thing, though. Here's the pre-order link:

I'd maybe consider musing about giving buying it a thought if it was $30.

After reading various previews about this game I have to say I am all clicked out.

Diablo clones, even in 3D, bore me to death these days.

Cheesy. It has this trailer where a woman(hot, of course) dresses up in to tight armor and arms herself with dual sub-machineguns. She then proceeds to make these ridiculous martial arts jumps while killing monsters.

My interest in this plummeted into the far distant negatives after watching the off-screen video from Leipzig. Most boring shit ever.

With all the next gen Console games now coming out at $59.99+ You had to figure PC games were going to get the 10 dollar rise soon as well.

I guess it is just something we will have to live with, but I forsee more and more AAA PC games comming out at that price.

What gets me is that even expansion packs are getting the 10 dollar bump now, Look at the wow expansion, $39.99. I seem to recall all other blizzard expansions, and hell all other mmo expansions at $29.99.

What are you talking about? Different stores have different prices. When Diablo 2 first came out, I bought it at Best Buy for 59.99.

60? Maybe. Though, it'll probably be on sale for 49.95 - the usual price. That, and there's no actual way to preorder the game because the publishers haven't actually given out the price quotations to anybody as of yet.

It's just a fake price with a fake release date. Officially, the game's release date is still "when it's done". March 2007 is definitely a plausible date, given that other websites state the release date as November 2006. But I'll put my money on Summer 2007.

Not quite right. As a resident N fanboy, I feel obliged to point out that all of Nintendo's first-party Wii titles will be $49.99, and, tho Big N says it has no direct control over third-party prices, it's encouraging that price across the board for Wii titles.

But yes, it's looking increasingly like the holdout on that score. :(

    $60 = 160€.

Oh wait ... Namco ... better add extra 100€ to the price.

Remenber its PIRACY that destroys the gaming industry, not spending 30 millions in a 10 hours game that requires a $1000 computer to run it (after 2 patches).

$1000 computer if you live in the us, its $1500~$2500 if you live anywhere else (if you can actually buy them, no chance to get the newest vid cards here), but considering the new consoles want $400~$600 (and this is absorbing costs(200~400?), no idea what they are going to do outside the us), plus a $2500~$5000 tv ...

$60 for a new game, whats that in real money €45, thats cheap!

What planet are you living on anyway?

Question I have been meaning to ask you yanks, whats the wage situation like in the states. What would the average I.T. worker just out of college be earning, maybe 18 months experience, dba/systems engineer type stuff.

Well it really wouldn't be an action game if it didn't have hot chicks in it... hm... now that I think about it, it also needs an ugly chick (or a demon chick with bitch tits) to supplement them.

Well, you asked about two different jobs.

The "average I.T. worker" (no experience) could probably bust out $35k - $45k beginning.

Almost two years experience and a dba/systems engineer, your probably in the $55k $90k, depending on what you can actually do.

Right now though, we are terrified that all our I.T. jobs are being outsourced to India and eventually China. Although I recently read an article in the Times that said the highly educated, hard-working, and cheap engineers of India aren't really as up to snuff as most say they are and that there will be a shortage for quality engineers in India. Go figure.
