I need some mods for Homewrold series, not some halfass ones but some really badass ones - you know any?

Complex mod for hw2 is fun, although lengthy.

PDS mod 5 or so is good for pretty lights.

PDS already at version 11 iirc.
However because HW2 is a single-core application it will put down your system on its knees no matter how new it is.

The different versions of pds are not updates - at various version numbers the game is drastically different.

I think there are 3 or 4 major versions at this stage, although possibly only the latest is under active developement.

This (AFF) was a pretty neat Total Conversion, though I haven't tried it for some time.

Are the recent versions of that any fun to play? I tried some early versions and it seemed all the developers were interested in was making billions of different ships, the balance and gameflow were pretty awful as were the camera controls, due to them having a crazy scale for stuff.

There was also some Babylon 5 mod for HW2 which was more like DoW gameplay ported into that game. I don't remember the name (it will be easy to find though) - but at that point the mod was pretty boring and unfinished.
However devs were still heavily working on it (~2007 was the last time I checked) and the community was pretty active too.

Angels fall first and the Star Wars mod weren't really playable last I checked, although that was some time ago.

There is an amusing Gundam mod, has some pretty cool ships and was pretty much finished a long time ago.

Been a while since I played. 1vs1 with a friend was fun. Balance was as you'd expect from Star Wars, meaning the rebels have superior fighters and average capital ships while the Empire has hordes of cheap it-dies-in-a-jiffy fighters supporting superior capital ships/space phallusses (and SUPERcapital ships, yay) I don't recall having trouble with the camera and the gameflow, on a 1vs1 small scale engagement with limited ressources, was rather enjoyable. It's worth a try, at any rate. The guy behind it is now making a mod for Sins of a Solar Empire, we'll see how that turns out though I prefer the HW2 engine.
