Insert cd, install game and play. Seriously, the many ways different characters get different dialogue and some nifty ways to complete the quests is what makes torment fun.

Thing is you can get stat bonuses to both TNO and her. It's not much, but it's there to experience.

Plus, the flirty little interaction between TNO and Annah as they're giving each other thieving tips is worth experiencing.

But it's probably best to play as a mage with high INT and WIS. The full-screen spell effects in the big fights at the end of the game heighten the drama. Be sure to get all the high-level spells you can from Fjull.

But if you don't have the Bronze Sphere in your inventory when you reach the last battle, you miss some important exposition. It doesn't affect the outcome of the game, but if you're playing to experience the story and the characters, it's important to hold on to it. (and since this is PS:T we're talking about, of *course* you're playing to experience the story -- so hold on to the Bronze Sphere!)

Really? I suppose so, I don't remember it well enough. I haven't played it through without the Bronze Sphere, it was tucked away in someone's inventory for the whole game.

Not to give anything away to Vazquez, but opening the Bronze Sphere at the end of the game answers a few questions about the Nameless One's backstory. What's inside is pretty cool.

One other thing -- I've heard it said that because TNO regenerates and can't be killed, CON is the least important stat in the game. That may be true. But seriously pumping CON gets TNO regenerating at a rate that's almost comic, and that really comes in handy during the big set-piece battles toward the end of the game (especially Carceri). If you're looking to make short work of the fighting and speed through to the next plot point, I actually recommend pumping CON in lieu of DEX or STR.

The game seems to be quite geared into TNO playing a wizard, however playing a fighter can also be good, as fighters are able to wield a sentient weapon (thieves like most games get the short end of the stick).

    A little spoilerish:

Be sure to get and keep the bronze sphere - and keep in mind that it's location is not completely obvious when you search the area where it lays.

If you have wizard in your party, then be sure you get the modron cube and find Nordom - he possesses the most sickeningly powerful wizard scroll in the game. Having any one of your wizards in the party learn this spell will make later battles go MUCH faster.

    More power-gamey:

Wisdom should be your major stat, it offers the most dialogue options and it increases your XP gain - which in return allows you to buy up more stats. Intelligence is also a great stat for opening up dialogue, but if you have a high wisdom already it isn't that important, however a high INT is the only way to complete one of your party member's quests, which in itself is one of the best quests in the game as well. Charisma is the least important dialogue stat, but feel free to take it if you want a dialogue specialist.

    So recommended stats are:
STR - unless you're a fighter, this can just be your dumpstat.
DEX - unless you're a thief, you'll only ever need 13 (this will allow you to make a grab for someone or snap their necks most of the time while in dialogue).
CON - not too important, but if you're deciding whether to raise DEX or CON as you're main defensive stat, then CON is much better.
WIS - get it as high as the low 20s (better yet, the maximum) before deciding on raising any other stats.
INT - unless you're a wizard, you can get by with just WIS as your main dialogue stat, though a high INT will also open up new ways to explore the main quest.
CHA - WIS and INT are better dialogue stats, though a good CHA will allow you to be hot stuff, which can be useful at one certain point in the main quest.

Chit, I think that I managed to fuck up one of the game's scripted events earlier today. After opening the Lower Ward by helping out the pregnant alley, the movie played and everything looked pretty bueno, but when the cutscene (the one where your party is distracted by some Sensate/Merchant/whatever and Morte is kidnapped by a buncha wererats) didn't play properly. The game was not 'locked' for some reason (which it usually is when a cutscene plays), and I happened to leave the location just as the Sensate/Merchant started to address me. So I've still got Morte, and things are quite horrible. Perhaps the cutscene failed to initialise due to me being a tad too fast on the trigger.

Good thing that I've got another save from the beginning of the Alley of Lingering Sighs. :salute:

Maybe you should just kill yourself (and I don't mean TNO). [IMG]

uhh is there a fix for the Dead Nations Bug?
I deleted my previous save games and I cant get in because it shows the loading bar and it either gets full and closes or just Stutters then closes

Edit:how do you become a Cleric?

Can't be a cleric, Fall-from-Grace is the only one. She's attrocious in combat but the fact that she's the only healer makes her a must have. She's also really low maintenance - IIRC she automatically casts healing spells (unlike the other IE games where you have to repetitively cast healing spell after healing spell after combat).

Actually, that was super-annoying to me. She would cast heal on my fast regenerating character.

Also, she is awesome in combat. Have her cast call lightning and just about any combat is over.

I could never really tell, since I always had party AI switched off.

You don't need Grace at all really, I would have picked Ignus or Vhailor over her if they were a bit more talkative. By the time you meet her you're at a point where you can afford huge stacks of threads and needles if you really wanted anyway.

    Edit:
Yes, a pity that most of the important battles are staged indoors.

It still works indoors. It is a lot more powerful than the call lightning in the player's handbook, as well.

I never used Grace offenisvely, and yeah should does heal indiscriminately. She really kept my party going in the Nordom cube though.

Vailhor is not bad but he's not available until about 95% of the way through - I had him commit suppuku and kept going.

Vhailor is pretty much the weakest because his armor class is just awful.

I do not think that there are any 5th level heal spells and tno can raise dead three times a day, so there is no real reason not to use her offensively...she does 120 pts of damage with that damn thing sometimes.

You know I thought it was written somewhere that it doesn't work indoors, though I guess that means all this time I've been playing gimped.

Oh and everything in the game seems a lot more powerful than the rule set would seem to allow. I assume that this is Avellone's work, seeing as how KOTORII is also quite the twink fest.

Been a while since I played, don't they come back with only 1HP? What do you do without a healer for those who don't regenerate?

Can't remember if she ever leveled that high but I will definately try that next time. I just remember her being a major liability in melee combat.

Well, that makes sense for tno at least. He is pretty unique, and more or less godlike.

I don't think the rest of things are ridiculously powerful, just going within the setting - except her call lightning, which is just crazy powerful.

Actually maybe it is 3rd level?

Anyway, I am not saying not to have her heal; it's only that one spell that is useful offensively. Otherwise her spells are useless aside from healing, if I recall. She does not have any cool nonhealing spells like a normal cleric except the call lightning.

and also if Aoskar is dead how can his priests still cast spells

Grace's version of Call Lightning is totally kickass. Yes, she can cast it indoors. That's not what it says in the *Player's Handbook*, but there are no rules for tanar'ri clerics in there, either. Fall-From-Grace deserves special rules.

But that's not why you want Grace in the party. You want her in the party because her dialogues are among the best in the game, and you won't get to be a participant in key conversations if she's not there with you. If this is your first time through (or second, or third), you should play with Grace and talk to her frequently, and about everybody. She is very intelligent and observant, and nothing she says is without narrative significance. She even gets off a few funny lines.

Fell's conversion prompted the Lady to destroy the temple of Aoskar, so yes, in a way, he was responsible. The dabus was the only survivor, and nobody in Sigil knows why he wasn't mazed. Fell himself doesn't know. And yes, many use the cult of Aoskar as proof that the old god isn't actually dead -- just incapacitated somewhere on the Astral Plane.
