It actually is a pretty fun ride with some really memorable levels. Still, I liked Modern Warfare better.

Checking short user reviews on Metacritic:

3/10 Multiplayer is unbalanced, small, and a lack of total players allowed when other games are at least at 32 players, if not more.

7/10 Overall this game feels more like it should have been a $39 expansion to CoD4 rather than a full $60 game.

1/10 New perks are about the only thing 'new'. Ops is just there version of a horde mode... something every other game has practically. This offers nothing new, and just attempts to copy and paste other games formula's along the way, including its own.

3/10 The engine used to run the game is outdated, and is really starting to show its age. I wouldn't recommend this game to any self respecting gamer.

I am only mentioning the console reviews, because PC gamers are only writing "0/10 No dedicated servers".

Still, pretty big disparity between gamer and critic opinion.

MW2 is exactly what MW1 or any of the IW CoD games before that was with better graphics and some even more insane levels. It's precisely what you can expect of a Call of Duty game and excells once again at the formula.

Why does the CoD engine get worse with each game? The guns have become quieter and quieter especially the guns of the AI around you, and feel like they have no weight in your hands (I think they keep nerfing recoil). CoD2 had decently fun gunplay. But CoD 4 etc. have very boring and tamed gun play. I feel like I'm shooting an airsoft gun.
