I check the jCRPG blog daily now. The project is ambitious as hell, but the rate of progress is amazing.

And here's a bit of unasked for advice: if you really want to spark some interest in people, maybe change the name . . . Java Classic RPG is a little uninspiring.

Or at least change the way you talk about the game. If I were you guys I would talk more about the dynamic world features and the "population" concept -- I find that stuff exciting as hell when I read about it. In a lot of ways jCRPG is shaping up to be an entirely new kind of RPG, rather than being "classic" at all.

Ok, thanks for the nice replies. I think it's worthy now to start a thread for it: http://rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=23877 . I was thinking about creating one a half year ago but the project was in such a simple state that I decided to not to do that. As things are rounding up it's now a better time for doing this - although still a bit premature maybe. :)

www.incursion-roguelike.org - seems to be a great d20 implementation, really detailed. Definitely worth looking at. Still in alpha though.

It's motherfucking awesome. Everyone with the faintest interest in roguelikes should try it.

Hell, EVERYONE should try it. The devil's in the details. Like a rogue stealing stuff unnoticed and getting all the xp for the monsters around. Or a skill that lets you schedule watches better while resting with followers. Or the gods. OMG the gods! There's a LE fascist fuck that is a patron for knights & nobles, an alien but benevolent Cthulhu-thing protecting the world from the aberrations it spawned, an ancient peasant deity that offers villagers protection and good harvest in exchange for a little blood - the more you pay, the more you get, but miss a payment and you're next... Hell, most of this fluff deserves a place in an official D&D setting, and I've not even started the game proper. The combat, too - all the PnP options like bullrush, charge, grapple, disarm, sunder and more, and the manual says monsters can be kind of smart. All in all, 1 more reason for me not to get a life, for a total of 10^24.

The games seems interesting but... OMG their websites really need some reworking! :) no offense but would make better impression if they just used one of those ready-made templates...

Elona ( Eternal League of Nefia). A new roguelike:
    Get latest version here

Don't bother with it if you can't stomach big head character style graphics like in some jRPGs. It was originally only in Japanese and a few untranslated messages can still be found.

I am not good myself at reviewing games. Here is a small abstract from a person who tried: "[Elona] has a lot of nice and interesting features (including things like taxes, a more forgiving death system than most roguelikes, crime system, gambling games, a political system, weather effects, a calendar, impressive visuals, and a good soundtrack) as well as showing quite a few inspirations from some of the more popular titles out there (the author's stated that the skill system was inspired by ADOM's, and there are also corruptions like those in ADOM)"

    A Strange Looking Game

This looks truly strange and original. Maybe someone will find it interesting. I like to look for things sometimes because I like to look for things.

Judging from your posts on their forums you're a shill or one of the developers alts.

It doesn't mean the game is bad, though.

Very true. But likewise it doesn't make it good either. And since there isn't any playable content we can't answer that question for ourselves.

If I'm right, which doesn't happen often, it does however call into question the morals/ethics of the people involved. But I could be completely wrong, and no I won't apologize or even acknowledge it if I am, and maybe the OP simply is some asskissing fanboy.

I really like Aveyond. Highly recommended, even for those who don't like jRPGs. I personally never was a fan of them, and still am not. Aveyond's the only exception I've made thus far. Don't know why though...that game is evil

This game is epic. 'nuff said

But this is still the most epic of them all

Also, Smugglers 4, a space sim with RPG elements, is now released. Definitely worth a buy imho

    Stone Quest

Stone Quest. Find the stones and stop the demons. I think this game came from Belgium so it might have a unique perspective.

Can't you guys find me something interesting and astounding to play that is an independent game. I am getting rather bored with the limited repertoire of indpendent games that are available...

    Find me something worth playing.

    What I like.

I enjoyed Evil Islands, Kult Heretic Kingdoms, The Spiderweb Software Games, Baldurs Gate, Geneforge, Eschaolon Book 1. I rather like independent games. I got bored with Divine Divinity and Found Morrowind III to be too complicated. Old school, old school.

I rather liked Starships Unlimited for an independent 4x strategy game. I also liked Warlords Battlecry. Hmm, what else. I liked Civilization but not Age of Empires.

I also liked Digital Eels Strange Adventures In Infinite Space.

I'm not drawn to action rpgs. I like tactics and turn based.

For Roguelikes, I liked Linley's Dungeon Crawl because it is a graphical roguelike. It is actually pretty fun.
