Put in retardo. Then put iOS in every topic and it will magically appear there. Only one post per topic, but that sounds about right.

There are actually a few pretty good rpgs-ish games on mobiles, ike Orcs & Elves by Id. Quite a few old JRPGs have been ported to iOS with remastered graphics too.

How is the actual Baldur's Gate on iOS retarded? I think its great.

I already have x-com enemy unknown and darklands on my ipad, now I get this!

I mean well... ok, I played a lot of BG back in the day, and I am kind of tired of the Bioware formula, but there is no denying that this is an incline for iOS.

Nobody's really calling the idea of BG on the iOS retarded (although I'm curious as to how convenvient it's gonna be with a touchscreen), merely that there doesn't appear to be anything of real value being done with this "remastering" that mods haven't already handled.

Also, you can't be a developer. Developers haven't posted here since the old days. The brighter days.

Well, I'll just be happier to have something on the platform that isn't Angry Birds or whatever.

The touchscreen can be... trying... on some of these games. I play x-com on my iPad and it does take some patience. Darklands too, especially since the guy who made the iOS DosBox no longer supports it, so the "mouse" support is a bit wonky. I keep meaning to put some even OLDER keyboard games on like the Gold Box games or Buck Rogers.

As far as posting, it's cyclical. Eventually the hate and the vitriol will grow and overpower any knowledge to be gleamed here, and I and the other developers will leave for a while. But like someone trapped in a horrible co-dependent relationship, we always come back.

Whenever I hear the term "Post-PC" I get the overpowering urge to punch something.

    Ugh, that's what I suspected. :(

I guess it's not such a big issue with TB games, at least. I'm curious as to how old games handle when they're specifically remastered for touchscreen controls, rather than running on DOSBOX or whatever (e.g. Final Fantasy).

Who wants to play a 100+ hour series of RPGs on a tablet? It sounds like one of the most annoying things you could pay money to experience.

Well most of the businessmen on the train just use their ipads to watch football or read the epaper, so I can imagine prestigious Codexers passing the time whilst on the way to their therapists.

Those days were bright because we were shoveling the developers into the furnaces for the light. Eventually all that's left were the ashes in the air making it hard to see anything.

GemRB on iPad looks almost perfect from this short video. I don't know why he puts 30 seconds of loading and 5 seconds of game but yeah.

I seriously wonder if those shots were taken with GemRB. You can't tell the difference at this point.

Wow, that looks (and sounds) sweet.

I think he's showing the load time to demonstrate that the iPad + GemRB can handle the game. Load time with music, and smooth frames during party selection and movement.

I'm still waiting for prices to drop. I was going to buy an iPad for a comic reader mostly, but gaming like this on the couch or at the park could be cool.
