Is anyone getting a Wii U?

It isn't as cringe worthy as the Wii, but man what a piece of garbage does this look like. Nothing I'd want to play at all on this. I saw a demo unit, and all I could think of was, wow this controller with a stupid screen built in is much too huge!

It makes me sick to read all the frothing Nintendo fanboys on their late thirties getting excited to play as Mario and peach.

 

Don't you wanna play special edition of old releases, shovelware and Nintendo rehashes?

 

When it comes to consoles, I've only ever bothered with Nintendo, and the Wii had a good trickle of decent dumb fun titles until... 2010 or so, but I'm skipping this one unless it ends up (by some miracle) having a better range of good games that aren't as piss-easy as Nintendo's first-party offerings have been of late. They're still fine games in most other respects, but they're just so damn easy that it genuinely ruins the fun. Hopefully they shape up a bit; unlike most developers today, they're still trying to offer gameplay above everything else, and while they've gone wrong with that approach in a variety of creatively stupid ways, they're at least trying to give us more than interactive action B-movies.

Pass for now.

 

How well this toy will hold up in the future depends on what kind of games they'll make. If From Software magically makes a Souls-type games exclusive to the Wii U or Retro makes a new Metroid Prime game then I might make the jump to the popamole.

From PS4/Xbox 720 I don't expect anything worthwhile except more brainless sequels from the big studios (EA, Ubisoft, Activision) while smaller studios will either go bancrupt or do the sensible thing like Obsidian did: Stop being stupid wannabe Hollywood cunts and start making games with sensible goals and sensible budgets again.

 

You newfags still have to learn the fine art of when to use an appropriate meme in a nuanced way to make it funny.

I think you should get a PS4 or next Xbox to play some of the downloadable exclusives, they're much more fun and cheaper than Nintendo games.

It's so disgusting to see these mouth breathing Nintendo fanboys praising garbage like Zombi U even though even the likes of Gamespot, Gameinformer and others say it's absolutely terrible.

 

Only "console" I'm thinking about buying is 3DS, mostly for SMT4.

The only things I used my Wii for were Rock Band 2, Mario Wii, and virtual console games, plus the occasional gamecube game. I don't see any reason to upgrade.

 

I get everything once it's cheap. Count me a Wii U buyer in 4 or 5 years .

 

Not really any consoles here. Only reason I've got a 360 is because a family member didn't know Microsoft would repair/replace red rings until I told him, and he had 2 dead red-ringed 360s and the one he currently used so he gave one of the repaired ones to me and kept the other as a spare.

 

Hopefully in 4 or 5 years your tastes will mature.

Yeah, sure, I'll buy a Wii U. To play what? Rehashed Nintendo games? With a shitty online infrastructure? My PS3 serves me well, and I'm not even sure that I'll ever buy a PS4.
