Is anyone getting a Wii U?

Wii was the only console to have an actually good control scheme that had the potential to approach a mouse & keyboard in usefulness.

The Wii edition of RE4 is indeed awesome. Ironic to see that in a console generation dominated by shooters that the console with by far the best shooter controls is relegated to being a platform for shovelware.

Wii U is a bad joke.

 

Prehaps when the price drops and games have come out.

Getting consoles at the tail end of their generation is great.

The Wii survived without EA sports didn't it?

 

Imagine how the Madden developers who worked on the online portion of the game feel when they know that a grand total of 1 player plays their game at any time just after the game has launched. This is beyond sad.

 

Why would anyone want to play online with a Nintendo system? Only asocial Xbox plebs play online, Nintendo fans play multiplayer with family/friends together locally.

It's pretty neat but there's no games.
Better wait for some games if you are considering it. There'll be Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2 at the very least to somewhat look forward, and the new Smash Bros to play with your friends much later. And of course the inevitable new Zelda which, even though probably as bad as SS, is going to look glorious in HD thanks to Nintendo-polish.

 

It's not neat at all, it's a piece of garbage with no game that a non manchild would play that is less powerful than a 7 years old system and DRM locking digital purchases to a single machine.

Nowadays my main platform is the PC, but having WiiU as a secondary gaming device doesn't seem like a bad idea, I am probably going to buy it when its price drops to like 150 dollars, Wii had some great games (LKS, Radiant Dawn and S&P2 <3) and it even gave me more fun than PS3 and X360, whose successors I am not interested in, Microsoft's only cool series is Halo (great for arcadey high difficulty firefights if nothing else) and while Sony had glorious WipEout the freaking retards killed Liverpool Studio so... yeah.

Btw, am I the only one here that thinks Metroid Prime 3 is a good game? Not as great as freaking Super Metroid and Prime 2 Echoes, but it is still muuuuch better than Fusion (handholding in Corruption doesn't even compare to what happens in that game, there was almost no "door-closing" and while transmissions were annoying, they didn't made you waste as much time as stupid Adam conversations) and the crime against humanity that is Other M.

 

Why does everybody hate Other M so much? Doesn't it support a Pro-Controller on Wii/Wi U? I can understand people popping blood vessels on their heads when playing with the Wii-mote alone, but my Dolphin experience with X360 pad was quite comfy once everything was properly set up.

Because it is not a Metroid game, it's just Ninja Gaiden with some Metroid skins, and the worst thing is that it is an extremely dumbed down Ninja Gaiden, zero weapon variety, no combos, repetitive encounters, almost no difficulty even in the hardest mode, clunky first-person mode, infinite missiles, pseudo life-regeneration... there is almost nothing redeemable about it, except for maybe the four "fanservice" boss battles, which still don't get to the level of the Prime Trilogy or 2D saga bosses.

 

How can you say all that and not mention the story and writing?

I authorize you to activate your Varia suit! You don't have to suffer horrible third degree burns anymore!

 

Oh, I was just mentioning its failures as a hack&slash game, and... well, those games aren't that good in story and writing to say the truth (Bayonetta for example is awful), but believe me, if I had to number every thing it does wrong as an adventure game the list would be much, much bigger.

 

Oh yeah I agree with that, they really could have come up with a better implementation and explanation of early shortcomings i.e. why this and why that of your suit was deactivated. Lazy storytelling meets lazy design.

Putting that, and also all that pseudo-philosophical nonsense aside though, it was still a fun and quirky game. Nowhere close to Prime though, I agree.

Fun trivia: The lead (level?) designer of Metroid Prime was also the lead on Halo 4.

 

I'm getting it in late 2013. It's good to have an anchor to console games since every so often a gem appears in the shit.
