JK, I think Pillars 2 is one of the best looking one. As for THE best, I dunno, maybe.

Divine Divinity is definitely up there, it still looks better than many other games even though its engine is old and dated. I prefer the Divine Divinity look to any other later Larian game tbh. The artstyle was better as well, a good combination of serious, Diablo like themes with a bit of cartoony elements. Now its all cartoony. The Water reflections were really neat and I remember being mightily impressed by them back then.

I can't think of another isometric RPG looks better than Deadfire. There are games that looks better than it in some aspects, like Original sin 2, but overall I would agree it is the best looking one to date.

I'd say it looks better than many AAA titles, if you didn't do any close up shots.

It does look really good (much better than the original) but I still prefer PS:T despite its lack of modern technology (lighting, shaders and so on). The pre-rendered assets just look much more organic IMO.

On stills maybe,physically implausible hard shadows pretty much ruin it and 3d characters feel detached without blending in. Could use some sort of new lighting process and environment should be descripted instead of pre rendering entirely.

I'm not saying PS:T can't be improved (it can), I'm just concluding that the 2D artist that envisioned the environment and the 3D modeler that made it a reality are superior to Obisidan's personal (who aren't bad to begin with).

It's very beautiful yes. I wish that's the direction isometric 2D games would have taken instead of the early, low-poly 3D garbage.

Their programmers as well. Did you watch the cutscene? The animation that went into it is unbelievable.

Yes, some of the best programmers animating cutscenes out there. I heard their work on the soundtrack is particularly impressive.

Deadfire looks great, yes. Pity the rest of the game didn't improve as much as the graphics did.

While the notion of agreeing with Safav Hamon and thereby submitting to his relentless fanboyism is positively dystopian, Deadfire is a very good looking game indeed.
