Tovias how did you make allies with the Shek? I am still not too well-versed in the faction mechanics.

Bugmaster?

You can also delivery bounties, wanted criminals, even normal Dust Bandits sometimes have a bounty on them. If you get one that's 2 points of rep - 50 points and they automatically ally with you.

Doesn't seem like you can take over an enemy faction's base even if you kill the boss. But what about all the abandoned locations all over the map? Is it possible to repair and expand them or do they serve no purpose?

Afraid not. I saw someone say that they could build inside some ruins once but never posted evidence of it so I assume it was a mistake. Normally, towns that you raze are overtaken by other faction, for example, in my game a crab raiders would take over a lot of stuff I wiped from the Reavers.

All I can say is that I've never been so excited about baking bread and cooking dried meat before. Feels like I won the game basically.

There are mods that let you overtake stuff like the Dust King's Tower and build a base there. I was heartbroken when I couldn't build one where the Band of Bones were hiding out. :(

Can you cut humans for meat like in Unreal World?
stop waisting your time with this while there's a new blobber out there.

If noble codexians are to be believed, it is awful in every aspect except graphics. Mamba combat + hipster writing that john wanker likes = I'd rather butcher people for meat :smug:
bad jokes aside, it has traps, teleporters, hidden switches, invisible walls, narrow corridors with plenty of branching, pretty good itemization and character development with boni and mali (even permanent ones), an interactive automap, a minimap, a compass, an interesting rune based magic system with some secret magic skill nobody seems to have found yet, atmosphere, etc... it even has a (i hear branching) story and c&c. yes it's real time but i don't dance too much. you can get around that with magic and consumables. i'd try it if i were you instead of listening to sheep about the graphics. but go ahead and sandbox a little, you'll grow tired of it faster than of skyrim. there's not enough content in kenshi and mods come slowly and are shallow.

I must have just downloaded 20 mods for kenshi and most of them are far from shallow. There's some really cool stuff on the workshop.

I'd rather not, oh great negative one. Just go look at the workshop's most subscribed for yourself.

i did, that's why i'm calling your bluff.

What bluff? I told you I just downloaded what I consider 20 great, immersion adding mods. If you disagree then oh well. Have you even played the game?

Always found those mods kinda broken since it's essentially skipping the whole research aspect of the game, but then again since this is essentially wee mad max, that should be possible if you are strong enough.

I don't really understand the percentage bonus on armors. Do they stack? If a leg armor covers 50% of the stomach and the torso armor covers 100% of the stomach, is that essentially 150% protection?

Edit - Nevermind, Shidan explained it on the Steam forums already.

So I'm rolling pretty well in the Squin longhouse. Have a tech III bench, some food/meat/bread/copper/2 metal chests storage equipment. I bake bread and want to start making meatwraps. I have a leather table which turns skins into leather, then into armor on the armor bench but it's not very good stuff right now. Same with the weapon smithing bench. Built a small power generator even though I don't think I needed it but might in the future. Have 3 miners bringing in copper, one with a huge backpack so he can load it up on a selling route. Once I get enough food I'm going to head out for some adventure. Thinking of heading towards Mongrel since I read something about being free there, free of the Holy Nation and others. No spoiers please. I also took out the Dust King + the Band of Bones bandits with the help of Tech Hunters mercenaries. Life is good.

Anyone think hiring mercenaries should add a reputation point to that faction? I mean, you're fighting with them and all. Oh, and I got involved in a random skirmish against a modded faction - the Inhuman Trackers vs. the Sheks who were invading. I figured I'd help the Sheks and got killed, but to my surprise none of the Sheks helped heal me at all. We could have wiped out their base but they decided to let me die there. I guess you have to be truly allied to get support from factions even if you help them in battle. Maybe attacking the same enemy could add reputation too, but these are just thoughts quickly off the top of my head. I also saw a Shek escaped slave get rocked by an Inhuman Tracker, and then I went to fight some bonedogs. To my surprise the slave comes running and either first aids one of my fallen guys or robs him, couldn't tell. Probably robbed, but what do bandits/NPCs take when they rob you while you're down? I didn't notice anything missing.

Some take food (the hugry ones), some take random stuff I think. The Reavers took almost everything I had once.

Can you tell me which mod gave you the opportunity to take over the Dust King tower and some other locations, please? I am 50 hours in and I am missing this kind of possibility.

Thanks.

I'd still suggest building your own turf, a lot of the fun is finding that one special place you can call home.

Thanks Tovia.

Actually I just want to be able to takeover things, but I will definitely build a city somewhere. :)

Where is located yours?

The mod author seems to be working on a total takeover mod by the way according to its comment... That would be fucking great!

Not sure if this is a new thing because I would have sworn that this is not the case...

But last night I noticed that items were appearing back in vendor inventory after I bought them. Talked to the vendor again and same items were available again. Was armor shopping and was able to buy multiple specialist/masterwork items when the vendor appeared to have only one at first glance. Weird thing is that for some items, the supply appeared nearly unlimited. Other items eventually ran out.

If this has always been the case, I wish I had known sooner.

High bonyard, pretty cozy place if you don't mind the roaming wolves, band of bones and beak things.

Simple answer - mercenaries. I stumbled on the Band of Bones hideout by mistake, got romped, went to a place very close by and hired mercs for a day. Wiped out of the Band of Bones and thought, hell, I already discovered the Dust King Tower on my map, might as well bring the mercs there and see what happens. Rehired them for 2 days and set off, wiped them out and collected the 35k bounty for the Dust King. Wasn't bad at all. I can't build there though because I'm not using mods that make their bases habitable, but it would be cool to live at the tower or where the Band of Bones was hidden - which was very secure.
