Dunno, I read the codex interview and it looks like an action JRPG, is the first one any good?

Nah, his comment boil down to:

Dates on the Kickstarter page should be written in stone!!!
OMG these updates are nothing about game development!!!
OMG these updates are private so I can't complain if they aren't about game development!!!

The complaint that updates are private is completely legitimate. Not because we have any right to them, but because the company is downright idiotic by not releasing them. At most, they'll generate a bit more hype.

The complaint about release-date likewise is legitimate, because if they're too optimistic across the board, it might hurt the trustworthyness of Kickstarter as a whole. No one who would like to see the phenomena succeed would want that.

As for his comments on the contents of the updates, I can't comment too much on that. I rarely read updates. I pledge, move on, and wait for the game to be released.

Meanwhile, gay pride projects and RPS controversies aside, just as Maia did in its last two days, Sui Generis is making a substantial push and it looks like it could actually make it.

Yeah, they need just another 15k, which, given what they got during the last two days, it's doable. In the mean time, Forbes' Erik Kain from does an interview on Sui Generis: http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/11/28/an-interview-with-sui-generis-developer-madoc-evans/

Sui Generis is at £140,754. Less £10k with less than 10 hours to go. :avatard:

A quick google proves I put too much faith in the pound-sterling. I stand corrected.

[Cough...cough...ekhem...] At least they have an interesting tech demo, unlike all those beggars with nothing to show...

It is not like I disaprove W2, P:E or other big guns. Hell, I backed them. They are well renowned developers, I liked most of their games and I have a good faith they will succeed. Despite showing nothing but butterflies and flowers.

But to bash new indie devs that the ONLY thing they are showing is quite impressive tech-demo and physics engine is just unfair. Even if they are a bit butthurt.

Meh, I dunno. I don't have anything about Sui Generis or the people who back it, I'm just explaining why I don't. I don't see a game in there, and games are what I want and am interested in.

I got your point. And I agree with it to some extent. Afterall, we want games that we want to play as they used to be.

Maybe it's just me, but I always saw the Kickstarter as a platform for the new indies to step up and show what they have. While kickstarter's been developing I noticed it can serve also for well-known devs to create what they truelly want instead of smithing another boredom. That said, I am still more likely to give the money to the newcommers, even if half of the projects I am interested in will be a mess. In any case I have no time to play all the games I am interested in. It is more like investing in the game industry to search for other models and diversify so it becomes an entity where people can find what they like. Even if it is a niche, we should have a healthy number of devs covering them. Sort of like in the movie market - you have mindless blockbusters, more serious blockbusters, but also intellectual independent movies that are great and unique.
