Hahaha i still have memories of dota when it was some halfassed map made for warcraft 3,ahhhh the good old times when we played it in a smoke filled garages internet clubs with lan.
Dota 2 is free because it had to offer a clearly better deal than LoL
lawbreakers is cheaper than dota 2
users are payed for cosmetic stuff, it's not free, bosskey could use cheap outsourcing for skins
As of March 2015 it was making around $18 million a month

Dota 2 plays worse than the fucking warcraft 3 FT they copied, that's the problem.
lawbreakers is cheaper than dota 2
lawbreakers is a garage 10 man indie game then?
users are payed for cosmetic stuff, it's not free, bosskey could use cheap outsourcing for skins
Don't they get a small % of the sales?
As of March 2015 it was making around $18 million a month
That's revenue, not profit, running servers is not cheap.

Boss Key co-founder Arjan Brussee joins Epic Games
Brussee has parted ways with fellow co-founder Cliff Bleszinski to work on an "exciting secret project"
On Twitter today, Boss Key co-founder Cliff Bleszinski revealed that fellow co-founder Arjan Brussee is leaving the games studio. Brussee, in a separate tweet confirmed the news and also revealed the reason why: he's going to work on an "exciting secret project" for Epic Games.
Bleszinski, who himself was an Epic Games designer (Gears of War), commented, "He is not only a brilliant person but also a dear friend and I wish him well in his future endeavors. Onward and upward - still makin' games here!"
Brussee was a co-founder of Guerilla Games and also spent a couple years as an executive producer at Electronic Arts. We've asked Epic about his new role at the Unreal Engine company. Brussee is rejoining the developer after more than two decades, since he spent time there in the mid-'90s as a programmer; he co-developed the Jazz Jackrabbit series, which Bleszinski had designed in his early days at Epic.
As for Boss Key, the company has had a rough time with a rocky launch for its shooter LawBreakers. Bleszinski and Brussee recently talked about the troubles they encountered with the game and how Boss Key intends to solve them. Brusse just won't be involved in that process now, however.

Lawbreakers' publishers have written it off, and they blame PUBG
Lawbreakers publishers Nexon have written off the entire value of the hero shooter, and blamed its failure - at least partially - on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
In a Q&A session with investors, Nexon’s CFO Shiro Uemura says “we will not be accruing any other impairment loss pertaining to Lawbreakers in the future.” Impairment loss is a decrease in an asset’s book value that is greater than its predicted cash flow, so for Nexon to say they will not incur any further such losses means they have written off Lawbreakers’ value on their balance sheet.
Nexon didn’t say exactly how much money they lost on Lawbreakers, but said it “accounts for the majority” of their Q3 expenses, which totaled roughly $32.6 million.
That’s a pretty spectacular failure in any assessment. By way of explanation, Uemura says:
“Our results in North America in the third quarter were below our outlook, mainly due to the sales from Lawbreakers being below our expectations. Lawbreakers is a unique FPS developed for core users. We had very high expectations for its launch; however, the timing of its launch turned out to be unfortunate, specifically the blockbuster PC online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out right about the same time, making the market environment very tough for first-person shooters in general and for Lawbreakers.”
PUBG isn’t an obvious competitor for Lawbreakers, as they’re very different types of shooter. Still, there is at least some overlap in their audiences, and such was the scale of PUBG’s success that perhaps it cast a wider shadow than one might think.
You can peruse Nexon's quarterly financial presentation here.
They're just trying to not hurt Cliff's feelings by giving an empty excuseI am confused here. Are they saying that Lawbreaker had a marketing?!
APRIL 2018 STUDIO STATEMENT
LawBreakers Community,
It has been a while since we said anything about LawBreakers. With that, the past four months at Boss Key Productions has been especially trying, as we pride ourselves at being communicative and transparent.
So here is the very real truth, which may not come as a surprise.
The fact is LawBreakers failed to find enough of an audience to generate the funds necessary to keep it sustained in the manner we had originally planned for and anticipated. And while a pivot to free-to-play may seem like easiest change to make, a change of this magnitude takes publishing planning and resources to do it.
The team here has worked hard on this game over the past three and a half years and our studio is determined to give this game the second life it deserves. However, between now and then, we cannot sit idle. We will continue to support the game in its current state, but we also need to focus on other projects with fresh creative leaders. We have been working on something new and we can’t wait to share more about it! It’s a passion project that we’re in complete control of.
Thank you for your ongoing understanding and patience.

Oh please, Epic has more people watching Fortnite on Twitch than OW, HS, WoW and HotS combined. They're so fucking lazy they can't even be arsed into shoehorning it into a fleece f2p system. Good riddance, get fucked Cliff. This is what you get for going full popamole and leaving UT in the dust.
Blizzard, the king of popamole, pisses on your corpse and laughs.
Neither does BlizzardFortnite has nothing to do with Cliff. Notice I didn't say Epic.
