Let's Combat Cranky Contentious Condemnable Carnivorous Crreps and Conquer Cramped Compact Corridors with Cantankerous Cacogens bearing Calorfacient Cannons!

I'm sure you didn't come here to see obnoxious abuse of literary devices, so here's what I've got to give ya.

Actually, the names are the easiest thing to remember about the game.

There's the first official episode with gameplay. Ain't it grand?

Damn at first I thought it was a game I played as kid extensively but then I looked it up and it was actually the predecessor to this game, never knew there was a sequel

Well, I certainly didn't remember it playing like a FPS

Well, I simply didn't feel like talking for this video. :obviously:

Actually I'm having difficulty working with Windows Movie Maker so I had to use captions instead of a voice over like I had originally intended. I'm used to using the hardcore industry-standard video editing software, not this popamole shit.

And Berekän, one of the best parts of this game is that you can play it FPS-style or go full tactical genius and use the tactical map as much as possible. I, of course, will be playing it like any red-blooded American would - maximum popamole.

Diggin the music. Does the fire hurt you? It's a little hard to tell.

The way fire works is whenever you touch it you'll take a little damage, but when you're actually inside it you won't take any damage at all. You won't regenerate health while you're in it, but most Genestealers will be gibbed when they touch it and the AI will actually not even bother trying to get you while you're in a fire. Means fires are very exploitable for the clever gamer. For some reason Genestealers work the same way as termies do in regards to fire, so if they manage to survive the initial contact with the flames they will be able to get to you. It's a moot point, though, because the AI will just avoid fire like a plague anyways.

Oh yes, I did just say regenerating health. EA, bringing the popamole to beloved board game franchises since 1995.

Anyways the reason why I said heavy flamers are worthless is because A) they only have six shots unless you can find a flamer reload (and that's rare), and B) the fires last for all of ten seconds and that will do you a fat lot of good against infinitely respawning enemies who are much faster than you are. There are exceptions, though, when the flamer becomes god tier, and I'll probably get to that later.

I'm making a fourth post just to declare that I have posted four times in a row.

Well, that and I'd like to see the second page before I finish this LP, but that's besides the point.

Also, give me brofists and I'll give you shoutouts in the next video.

When I was doing the Alien Assault LP I remember dissing the flamers at first because of mostly the same reasons. Later on I realized their potential, you hardly use all their ammunition and they're quite useful to block choke point giving you a safer advance. Mind you, Alien Assault is turn-based, so I don't know how well that translates to this one but I wouldn't underestimate them.

Also, bumping to the second page.

Well, I can see how they'd be useful in a turn-based game, but the biggest problem here is that AI flamer Termies won't fire at threats on their own, because they're coded to conserve ammo. So if there are objectives that you have to flame, you basically have to escort them around with a storm bolter Termie or two or else they'll literally spot a Genestealer and just stop moving and stand there until the Genestealer reaches them and then they'll fight in close combat (and like nearly all AI Termies, they'll go down hard.) Otherwise I usually just tell them to self-destruct near a spawn point or something so I don't risk losing valuable Termies to just protect one.

It's a massive pain in the ass, is what it is.

It's manageable in the virtual missions because you can jump around and control other Terminators yourself, but in the campaign, you *can't*. You're stuck in one Terminator, and have to rely on the AI no matter what. What's even more glaring is that there are literally no missions in the campaign where you have to flame a room or two, so when the game gives you a flamer Termie, they're nothing but 'Stealer fodder. And don't even get me started on the missions where the game takes a Terminator who had a storm bolter in the previous mission, takes it away, and replaces it with a flamer WITH NO AMMO.

Still, despite all of that, there are a few virtual missions that have very special rules for the maps, where the flamer Termies suddenly become the King. I'll cover those later.

Also thanks for the bump.

BUMP FOR THE BUMP GOD!

So it appears you are playing the PS version. May I ask why you chose that one? Also, the sound in general for this game seems to be rather messed up. No sounds for walking a giant terminator marine? No atmospheric sounds?

Yes, I am playing the PSX version. I chose it for no other reason than it's the one I own, so I just had to rip the virtual image rather than waste bandwidth downloading it. Yes, the sounds are a little rough, though I believe that's partly due to the video capture software I'm using. The Termies do make noises when they walk, and there are growls and such from 'Stealers, but I can understand if they're hard to hear.

The doors do go whoosh when you open and close them though. Whoosh.

I say carry on sir :salute: You have to honor your duty to the Emperor!

Shame that the AI for the Flamers is so broken, everything's better with fire.

Uploading part one of the next episode.

Remember, if you brofist my latest post in this thread, I will give you a shoutout in the next episode. (There will be no shoutouts for the thing I'm uploading because it's only part one of the episode, part two will have to be uploaded later because my bandwidth can't handle both of them simultaneously)

Part one. Part two is still uploading (dunno why it's taking so long.)
