Brofists don't mean anything, you can brofist without even reading the actual LP. Comments are very much welcome and even clutter, since I'd like to move to the next page and not botch the same page with many updates.

Welcome back readers ! Tex found out Lisnky was working in a top secret project called Overlord. Was it this that got him killed ? We should find out. We're also going to spend some of that hard-earned money of ours...

Code:
CHAPTER 04 :
___ _ _ _ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ___ ____ ____ ____ ____ _ _ ____
 | | | | | | _ |___ |__| | |___ | \ |___ |__/ |___ |__| |_/ [__
 | |_|_| |__| | | | |___ |___ |__/ | | \ |___ | | | \_ ___]

Guess what, Vanessa can't find a thing on that PI, Sonny Fletcher, and the same goes for John Klaus one of the scientists involved with the project. So what now ? Should we go around smashing heads and taking names ?!

brofist.png

Well, as fun as that may be, it's not always productive :

ms_1306_resize.png

Read the fucking manual people ! It seems that apart from Vanessa we can also call a special information broker. Unfortunately this one asks for money...

ms_1889_resize.png

Whoa, this babe needs to be enhanced !

ms_1891_resize.png

Lee.png
What do you need, Murphy ?

Tex1.png
Hello Lee, I need to find the whereabouts of a man called Sonny Fletcher. He's a P.I.

Lee.png
What's it worth to you ?

Tex1.png
How about $100 ?

Lee.png
You're as cheap as your suit !

Crap, she's skinning us alive ! This time she wants $1000...

ms_1948_resize.png

Lee.png
That seems fair. I'll send you a fax. Anything else ?

Tex1.png
Yeah, I want info on a scientist called John Klaus.

Lee.png
Six hundred.

Tex1.png
You sure know how to talk dirty, Lee. OK. See what you can also find about J. Saint Gideon, the former head of Gideon Corp.

Lee.png
For $500 you'll learn all there is to know.

Dammit. That woman is pushing us to a life of crime ! At least she delivers :

ms_2004_resize.png
ms_2005_resize.png

ms_2007_resize.png

What's with these scientists and their BBW fetish ? Let's go have another talk with Delores.

ms_2015_resize.png

ms_2034_resize.png

Delores.png
Carl and John were partners once. I was dating John at the time, but when I met Carl I fell head over heels in love with the little cutie.

Tex1.png
Really ? How did John take it ?

Delores.png
When I told John, he flew into a rage and vowed never to work with Carl again.

Tex1.png
Where can I find him ?

Delores.png
I see him from time to time, but lately he's been acting strange. He believes he is in danger. He's hiding out in Reno, Nevada right now. Use (NC 7012).

Tex1.png
Thanks. By the way, do you know a woman called Sandra Larsen ?

ms_2029_resize.png

Tex1.png
She's half the woman you are, Delores. See ya.

Since they fought for the heart of the same woman, Klaus is another potential suspect for Linsky's murder. We should pay him a visit.

ms_2076_resize.png

I see a gray haired man about 50 sitting at a large table. "Professor Klaus ?" The man looks up with a shocked look. "How did you find me ?", he says. "It's my business finding people". I give him my credentials and background on the Linsky case...

We ask him about himself :

ms_2089_resize.png

Tex1.png
What was your work at MTC ?

Klaus.png
I was hired by MTC, which is the Management Training Center for Gideon Enterprises. They put me to work on a project called OVERLORD. I soon discovered that my work has nothing to do with management training.

Tex1.png
What is this project about ?

Klaus.png
I was told that Overlord was a project designed to enhance an executive's mental capacity and performance. But as the project progressed I grew suspicious. When I started asking questions, I was threatened. I figured it was time to go underground for a while. How the hell did you find me ?

Tex1.png
Delores Lighbody pointed your whereabouts.

ms_2114_resize.png

Tex1.png
She dumped you over Carl Linsky, right ?

Klaus.png
Carl and I used to work together, but we had a falling out over Ms. Lightbody. She was my chick and he took her away. He had been trying to get in touch with me, but I wouldn't return his calls. I was sorry to hear about his death.

Tex1.png
Were you given access to the Nexus network ?

ms_2138_resize.png

Tex1.png
Do you still have your passcard ?

Klaus.png
Yes. Here, take it, maybe you can get to the bottom of this.

He handed us over his GREEN passcard. Nice.

Tex1.png
What's your password ?

Klaus.png
It's "PAWN".

Tex1.png
These passwords seem so fitting, it's uncanny.

Klaus.png
Hmmm...

Mongo-only-pawn-in-game-of-lif.gif

So, we were right about those passwords !

Before we move on, let's have a look at another way of making money. In the manual you can find coordinates for locations where you can go bounty hunting :

ms_2162_resize.png

When you get there, you enter the usual combat mode and if you reach the end, you earn some money.

ms_2174_resize.png

ms_2179_resize.png

Tex1.png
I'm too old for this shit.

Frankly, we shouldn't waste our time with this crap. It's a waste of precious ammo, since these are more difficult than the normal combat sequences, and we can earn enough money by pawning stolen *found* goods.

ms_2175_resize.png

Next stop, the mansion of J. Saint Gideon :

ms_2207_resize.png

ms_2213_resize.png

I'm ushered into the den. Mr. Gideon is intently studying his chess board. He seems oblivious to me (Either that or he's asleep). The guy's old. I mean ancient. But he must be a big wheel because there's a picture on the wall of him receiving an award from President Michael J. Fox. I give him some background information on the Lisnky case, and it seems to pique his curiosity.

 It seems Michael J. Fox finally put the Delorean to some good use. We ask Gideon about Linsky :

ms_2233_resize.png

Tex1.png
Tell me about yourself Mr. Gideon.

Gideon.png
I feel I've been quite successful in life. Before I was in the business world, I was head of British intelligence. After that I founded Gideon and developed new ways of helping the government. Schimming sees Gideon as just business. I looked at the company as an institution, protecting our way of life.

Tex1.png
What do you think of Schimming ?

Gideon.png
Schimming forced me out of my own company. He's ruthless and totally unethical. He'll pay for that someday.

Tex1.png
What's the deal with MTC corp ?

ms_2260_resize.png

Gideon.png
I've heard there is something unusual going on at MTC. If there is, I'm sure Schimming is behind it. That man is dangerous.

Tex1.png
Do you know of a project called "Overlord" ?

Gideon.png
Overlord ? I'm sure I've never heard that before.

I don't think he's telling us the whole truth, but we can't get anything else from him now. Anyway, it's about time we met with Mr. Sonny Fletcher...

ms_2283_resize.png

ms_2294_resize.png

The stairwell is dark, with garbage and old newspapers strewn everywhere. I find apartment 307 and knock on the door. Fletcher answers with the disposition of an untipped waiter. I tell him I'm working for Sylvia Linsky, and he tells me to come inside.

The room id cramped and confining. The furniture is cheap and the upholstery is threadbare. A portable black and white TV is on a small table blaring the sound of Lifestyles of the Incredibly Rich, Lucky, Healthy and Famous...

We inquire about himself :

ms_2315_resize.png

Tex1.png
What work were you doing for Carl Linsky ?

Sonny+Fletcher.png
I've nothing to say to you about that.

No time for diplomacy !

ms_2320_resize.png

Tex1.png
Look here stinkface ! I'm here to chew bublegum and kick ass and I'm all out of bub- ?!

SOCKO.jpg

ms_2324_resize.png

Whoops, babyface is tough one. I guess we better find time for diplomacy... and bribes :

ms_2338_resize.png

Sonny+Fletcher.png
Ok, I'll tell you what I know. Linsky hired me to check out a corporation called MTC. He had been hired to do research into increasing a person's mental abilities. As the work progressed however, he realized they had different intentions.

Tex1.png
What did you find out ?

Sonny+Fletcher.png
When I started investigating into MTC, I received threats on my life and was even shot a few times. I tried to warn the professor, but it was too late. I think they iced him, but I have no idea how they did it.

Tex1.png
Tell me what's MTC up to.

ms_2369_resize.png

The bastard gave us the finger ! ...We'll give him money :/

ms_2421_resize.png

Sonny+Fletcher.png
Ok. About a year ago, MTC started hiring scientists. Most employees were not even aware this was going on. Rumor has it that the Scientists were hired to work on secret project called OVERLORD. If you want any more info on MTC you should ask Wanda Peck.

Tex1.png
Wanda Peck, the journalist ?

Sonny+Fletcher.png
Yeah. You'll find her at the San Francisco Chronicle at (NC 4621).

Tex1.png
Ok, so now tell me about Overlord.

Sonny+Fletcher.png
Other that what I've told you about Linsky's suspicions, I don't know anything more. Try Wanda Peck.

Tex1.png
What about MTC's Nexus network ?

ms_2431_resize.png

Tex1.png
You fucking bastard ! How much ?

Sonny+Fletcher.png
Three hundred should do it. :smug:

Tex1.png
Done. Now tell me.

Sonny+Fletcher.png
Nexus is the computer Linsky was given by MTC to work on Overlord. His terminal was part of a network. It required a passcard and a password. He wanted me to get hold of all the other scientists' passwords and passcards. He believed there were 8 scientists working on the Nexus computer system.

Tex1.png
Why was he looking for the passcards and the passwords ?

Sonny+Fletcher.png
Professor Linsky said the Nexus passcards and passwords were vital to stopping the Overlord Project. I was hired to help him find them. I could give you Linky's passcard and password... for the right price.

Tex1.png
I already have them both. So... FUCK YOU VERY MUCH, Fletcher.

finger.gif

Tex1.png
You should keep laying low. You'll be scaring the children if you move around town.

What a charming guy. Let's go and talk to that journalist, Wanda Peck, it seems she's an old acquaintance of Tex.

ms_2482_resize.png

ms_2502_resize.png

...She's a good source of information and she knows how this city in run.

ms_2508_resize.png

Wanda.png
I'm the woman for you, if you'd ever ask me.

Tex1.png
I'll... keep that in mind. Do you know an investigator called Sonny Fletcher ?

Wanda.png
Sonny ? He was here a while ago asking me to check out a number of things. Then he disappeared.

Tex1.png
I know he asked you about MTC. So, what's the scoop ?

ms_2540_resize.png

Tex1.png
You don't say. Tell me about OVERLORD.

Wanda.png
Larry Hammond wanted me to do some research on that. The Overlord project was developed 50 years ago in England when Scientists began work on a mental ability booster.

Tex1.png
Go on.

Wanda.png
The experiment involved increasing a person's mental capacity by connecting his brain directly to a computer.

Tex1.png
Yikes.

Wanda.png
Several scientists tried the experiment on themselves, and at first it worked. By stimulating untapped areas of the mind, they increased their IQs by 15-25%. But they also found they were extremely susceptible to suggestion. Commands given through the computer would be followed without question.

Tex1.png
Hmmm, some things are starting to make sense...

Wanda.png
Many of the scientists developed severe cases of psychosis. Some committed suicide, and others died under mysterious circumstances.

Tex1.png
Well, that sure was enlightening. I'm also looking for a former MTC employee called Larry Hammond.

Wanda.png
Hammond ? He's a brilliant computer specialist who has done some work for MTC. He was concerned about some project. Ask a guy named Ron Meat where to find him.

Tex1.png
And where can I get hold of this Ron Meat ?

ms_2568_resize.png

Tex1.png
Say, recently I've been coming across that new political party called "Law and Order". What you've got on them ?

Wanda.png
Information on these boys is gonna cost you. I'm taking a big risk saying anything about them.

Tex1.png
<sigh> Even my friends are trying to fleece me... How does $800 sound ?

Wanda.png
Just about right.

ms_2605_resize.png

Wanda.png
A year ago Robert Knott became the president, and now the party is focusing on their rage against mutants. When a murder or robbery is committed, it's immediately blamed on the mutants.

Tex1.png
How convenient...

Wanda.png
The scariest part is that they're becoming a powerful political force. They've got friends in the Legislature, Mayor's Office and Police Force. You need to talk to Larry Hammond. Look for Ron Meat to find Larry.

Tex1.png
What do you know of their leader, Knott ?

Wanda.png
He's quite the mystery man. He controls much of the action on the city, but he's hard to find. I don't think he's looking for publicity or notoriety. He wants to control things from the shadows.

So we need to speak to this Ron Meat. It seems we'll have to resort to Lee once again...

ms_2689_resize.png

Another $800 down the drain...

ms_2713_resize.png

Thankfully she delivers :

ms_2728_resize.png

ms_2744_resize.png

ms_2751_resize.png

...Too bad he doesn't have another on to match. I call him over to the side of my speeder and ask him how he's doing.

ms_2760_resize.png

Tex1.png
How... codexian. Look, I need to contact Larry Hammond, I heard you know where he is.

RonMeat.png
I'm not gonna tell you shit, fish face !

Tex1.png
Wrong answer cyclops !

It's time to grab collars and poke eyes !

ms_2817_resize.png

brofist.png

I slam my fist into his soft flabby stomach and he buckles over. I then catch his chin with a solid haymaker that sends him staggering back against the wall.

RonMeat.png
OK, OK that's enough! I'll talk. You'll find him in Freak Town at the old warehouse at NC 4935.

Tex1.png
That wasn't so hard, was it ? Now tell what you know about Law and Order.

RonMeat.png
Those SOB's have threatened me several times. They think I look like one of those freaks. I've heard they're planning something big, and I know it's going to happen soon.

Tex1.png
You've got an eye for detail, Ron. See ya.

At last we can get to Larry Hammond, the programmer. I hope he's worth all the fuss.

ms_2870_resize.png

This is where most of the unfortunate individuals live who suffered severe damage from nuclear radiation. Many of their offspring suffering genetic damage resulting in some rather grotesque mutations. Most were treated as outcasts and were forced into this community.

I step through a partially open doorway into a large room. I see several large mutants, and none of them look too happy to see me. "I'm looking for Larry Hammond" I say quickly. A fellow steps forwards. He's about 30 and looks like he's got a serious grudge against the world (some people are so ungrateful for extra blessings... at least he was born with all his vital organs inside his body).

ms_2899_resize.png

Whoa, a multi-headed freak , oh god itz heavan !

Tex1.png
So you're your whole family, huh ?

Larry+Hammond.png
Most people think I'm two faced. I think it's because I'm usually pleasant, but Darrell's so orney all the time.

Tex1.png
You did some work for MTC...

Larry+Hammond.png
About a year ago, TOM GRIFFITH, hired me to design a computer for the Overlord project. They also wanted eight access terminals.

Tex1.png
Tom Griffith ?

ms_3086_resize.png

So, another player comes into the game...

Tex1.png
Who else was working on that project ?

Larry+Hammond.png
A colleague of mine, Cal Davis. He told me that he had been hired by MTC to do research on controlling human behavior through direct brain stimulation

Tex1.png
What was their goal ?

Larry+Hammond.png
When I started asking questions, they told me it was none of my business. When I read that Davis had been killed, I decided to go into hiding.

Tex1.png
Is there a way to stop Overlord ?

Larry+Hammond.png
You'll have to get to the main computer and destroy the satellite. To gain access to the destruct sequence, you'll need all eight passcards and passwords. Each scientist involved with the project has one.

Tex1.png
Have YOU got one ?

Larry+Hammond.png
Yes, the GREY passcard. But it was stolen by members of the Law and Order party. My password is KING. To get the rest of them you'll have to find each of the scientists working on the project.

Tex1.png
And then what ?

Larry+Hammond.png
Once you gather all the cards you'll need to find the main computer to use them. I don't know where it is and other than Cal Davis I don't know any of the names of the remaining 6 scientists.

Tex1.png
Who would know their names ?

Larry+Hammond.png
If I were you I'd start with the accounting people at Gideon : Jerome Milbourne, Ed Bradley and Arnold Dweeb They might have names of the people that received checks from MTC.

ms_2983_resize.png

Larry+Hammond.png
Overlord is the continuation of a project that was attempted in England 50 years ago and failed. Now with new technology, they are attempting to control the actions of an individual through microchips and satellite transmissions.

England huh ? Wasn't Gideon a former British intelligence agent ?

Tex1.png
Do you know the head of Law and Order, Robert Knott ?

Larry+Hammond.png
I know he hates freaks, but that's about it. When I did work for Gideon, I saw him and Frank Schimming together on occasion, discussing "business".

Tex1.png
What kind of a guy is Frank Schimming ?

Larry+Hammond.png
I met him once before he was president, and he seemed like the type of person who would enjoy pulling the wings off flies.

Tex1.png
Where I can find those accountants you mentioned ?

Larry+Hammond.png
I know only Ed Bradley, he's at NC 7312. As for Arnold Dweeb, if you find him keep an eye on him, He's slippery. If he pats you in the back he's trying to get you to cough up something.

Tex1.png
Thanks for the info Larry. Try not to loose your... heads over this.

ms_3035_resize.png

nod.png

star+trek+nod.gif

And with that nice sentiment we take our leave. We're finally getting some real information on Overlord and on Linksy's true intentions. Tex will have to do some serious collar-grabbing from now on...

You haggle. If you pay more they don't give a shit, the info is the same. If you offer less you receive insults.

Ah... the glamorous life of Tex :)

It's kind of fun to see just how many times Tex can get KO'd in the span of one investigation. Dude will end up in a coma before he's 40.

The conspiracy is finally getting clearer. Unfortunately we still can't prove if Linsky was murdered, or not. What we do know is:
  • Linsky and many other scientists were working for MTC corporation on a project called "Overlord".
  • They were told that Overlord was about increasing human intelligence, but it turned out it can also be used for mind control.
  • Linsky was not the only scientist on the project that died under mysterious circumstances, we know of at least one more.
  • In order to shut down Overlord, you need to collect all the network passcards and passwords of the scientist and use them on the main server.
  • The political movement Law and Order seems to have interest on the project. They've already stolen one of the passcards...

Code:
CHAPTER 5 :
_ _ _ ____ ____ ____ ____ _ _ _ ____ ___ ____ _ _ _ _ _ ____ _ _ ____ _ _
| | | |___ |__| |__/ |___ | | | |__| | | |__| | |\ | | __ \_/ | | | |
|_|_| |___ | | | \ |___ |_|_| | | | |___ | | | | \| |__] | |__| |__|

We need to find the rest of the scientists, our best bet on doing that is contacting some of the MTC accountants. Let's follow the money ! We call Vanessa :

ms_3048_resize.png

Tex1.png
Hey beautiful. I need some info on Jerome Milbourne and Arnold Dweeb. All MTC accountants. Also see if you can find something on the MTC vice president, Tom Griffith.

Vanessa1.png
I could only find Milbourne, check your fax.

ms_3082_resize.png

As you can guess, for the rest of them we'll need to pay. We call the blood-sucking Kuei Jin:

ms_3146_resize.png

Lee.png
What do you want Murphy ?

Tex1.png
Nice to see you too, Lee. I need to find the whereabouts of Arnold Dweeb and Tom Griffith

Lee.png
$1300 for both.

Tex1.png
*grunt*.

We pay her the damn money and she delivers :

ms_3221_resize.png
ms_3220_resize.png

First stop, Tom Griffith. It's time we talked with one of the head honchos.

ms_3228_resize.png

The moment we leave our speeder a bunch of armed thugs attack us. I have the nagging suspicion someone doesn't want us sniffing around this case...

ms_3240_resize.png
ms_3261_resize.png

Tex wont be stopped by mere bullets though ! We let them rest in pieces and reach Griffith's mansion.

ms_3267_resize.png

It's a two story home with a spiked, wrought iron fence, a swimming pool and concrete paths that wind among bird paths and fountains. I knock on the door, but no one answers. I can tell someone is there , so I continue knocking. Finally, a rather irritated Tom Griffith comes to the door...

He seems irritated. Good. We ask him about himself :

ms_3282_resize.png

Tom+Griffith.png
I'm VP of MTC Corporation, but some big changes are in my future.

Tex1.png
Do you know of a scientist called John Klaus ?

Tom+Griffith.png
John Klaus wasn't happy at MTC. We'd be very interested in finding him...

You don't say...

Tex1.png
What can you tell me for the former president of Gideon Enterprises, J.Saint Gideon ?

Tom+Griffith.png
He's an electronics genius and a good friend of mine.

Tex1.png
MTC is a management training center for Gideon, right ?

Tom+Griffith.png
MTC will soon be more than that. We're working on new surveillance equipment that will change the industry.

Tex1.png
Carl Linsky and Cal Davis, both former MTC employees, have died recently.

Tom+Griffith.png
I read about them. Isn't it strange how many accidental deaths and suicides have occurred lately ?

Tex1.png
Indeed it is. Larry Hammond says you're bad luck.

ms_3317_resize.png

Tom+Griffith.png
The only reason we hired that monster is because of his vast computer knowledge.

Tex1.png
Yes, I'm sure you needed many knowledgeable people in order to complete project... OVERLORD.

Tom+Griffith.png
How did you find out about Overlord ? Bah, I guess it doesn't matter, because it's almost operational. Through microchips and satellite monitoring stations, we can watch anyone, anywhere in the world.

Tex1.png
You don't say. And who will be watching the watchmen ?

Tom+Griffith.png
Overlord will greatly enhance government security. Everyone will benefit through this new control device. Except, of course, those who are deemed a threat.

Tex1.png
And who's going to decide that ? You and your pals from Law and Order ?

ms_3344_resize.png

Tom+Griffith.png
They're working with us to develop this device that will revolutionize the surveillance industry. Then we will put it to work against the enemies of this country.

Tex1.png
Ever read 1984 ? This sounds to me a lot like that thing Cleve was talking about.

Tom+Griffith.png
All decent citizens will benefit from our work. There are those who think the device is dangerous, but we'll soon change their minds about that.

Tex1.png
Interesting choice of words... What about Robert Knott, Law and Order's top man ?

Tom+Griffith.png
Very soon, he could become one of the most powerful men in the world.

Tex1.png
What does your president, Frank Schimming think about all this ?

Tom+Griffith.png
He could care less about MTC, and that's fine with me, We get along fine without him.

Tex1.png
Thanks for your time, Tom. It has been enlightening...

ms_3360_resize.png

He sure is a bastard, but he was too forthcoming about everything. Maybe he isn't in the conspiracy after all.
Time to hunt down the accountants. We set for Milbourne's home :

ms_3391_resize.png

No luck. Next one is Ed Bradley :

ms_3405_resize.png

It all points to Dweeb. He set up a strange meeting place, the Oakland Coliseum...

ms_3427_resize.png

ms_3432_resize.png

A strong cold wind rips off the bay. It made my trench coat clumsy, flapping around my legs. I wouldn't even wear the damn thing if it weren't to avoid the effects of latent radiation.

Arnold Dweeb suddenly appears as if from nowhere. He looks like an A,#1 weenie. He's the type of accountant my parents warned me about.

We proceed to ask him about Frank Scimming and Gideon...

ms_3477_resize.png

Who the hell does he think he is ? We'll make this sucker talk !

Tex1.png
Listen, you little pansy ! If you don't tell me what you know, I'll make you wish you'd never been born !!

ms_3461_resize.png

ms_3466_resize.png

ms_3473_resize.png

FUUUUUUU+copy.png

Whoops. It seems that bribery is the way to go after all...

ms_3496_resize.png

Dweeb.png
Schimming is a ruthless egomaniac. He tossed the former President, J. Saint Gideon, out on his ear through vicious internal politics. I heard Gideon tell Scimming he'd get even with him someday.

Tex1.png
Ok. Now I'd like a list with scientists that have received checks from MTC.

Dweeb.png
This is confidential information. I couldn't part with it with less than $3000.

Tex1.png
$3000 ?! Are you mad ?!

Dweeb.png
Take it or leave it.

:negative: Here goes the Maltese cheesecake...

Tex1.png
FINE ! Now you better deliver.

Dweeb.png
I have the list right here. I don't know which of them are scientists. I've also included some nav codes to help you find them. Don't tell anyone where you got this list !

  • Ron Morgan
  • Jorge Valdez (NC 4931)
  • Brenda Perry (NC 4577)
  • Greg Call
  • Cal Davis (NC 3720)
  • Big Jim Slade
  • Tom Griffith (NC 4590)
  • John Klaus
  • Bosworth Clark
  • Sandra Larsen (NC 4599)
  • Della Lang (NC 2111)
  • Sam Jones
  • Larry Hammond.

Some of them we already know , but it seems we've got a shitload of new people to check out. As soon as we enter our speeder we receive a fax :

ms_3572_resize.png

you%27re+dead.gif

Tex1.png
These threats are getting more and more uninspired.

This concerned citized is very concerned. I'm guessing these arian thugs that keep ambushing us are concerned citizens, as well...

All these threats manage to accomplish is to make us even more determined. Vanessa can't help with these names. We contact Lee once again.

ms_3615_resize.png

Tex1.png
I'm sending you a list of people. I need to contact them. How much ?

Lee.png
It's a lot of work Murphy. $2500.

Tex1.png
I've made you rich, Lee. You better remember that.

Lee.png
All I remember is your constant whining. Wait for my faxes.

ms_3707_resize.png
ms_3709_resize.png

ms_3711_resize.png
ms_3714_resize.png

ms_3716_resize.png

We'll start with Jorge Valdez.

ms_3723_resize.png

ms_3740_resize.png
ms_3742_resize.png

Nothing there. Next one is Brenda Perry.

ms_3759_resize.png

Dead end there too. Della Lang is next in our list :

ms_3782_resize.png

ms_3786_resize.png

I ask her if she has a few minutes to answer some questions. It's clear that she doesn't want to be bothered, but then agrees. "Make it quick" she says...

Quick is Tex's middle name.

ms_3802_resize.png

Della+Lang.png
To tell you the truth, I haven't gotten far with them. Tom Griffith doesn't like me looking into their affairs much.

Tex1.png
So Griffith isn't a very cooperative guy, huh ?

Della+Lang.png
He's always stalling about certain reports not being available. When I meet with him to discuss company procedures, he tries to ask me out. He's a royal pain to work with.

Tex1.png
What about his boss, Schimming ?

Della+Lang.png
Mr. Schimming is a hard nosed businessman. He's done an excellent job and I share his ideals.

Tex1.png
I heard that you know Ron Morgan.

ms_3826aaa_resize.png

That's what we wanted to know. Let's check him out.

ms_3846_resize.png

ms_3857_resize.png

ms_3859_resize.png

Cozy. We check out the TV and find a small compartment behind the panel, inside we find a key :

ms_3869_resize.png

By the fire place we see Morgan's master degree from Standford university. A stuffed moose head dominates the place :

ms_3898_resize.png

We open the latch and find...

Tex1.png
$500 ! Not a bad catch.

We need to make up for our lost bribery money. As we look around we get a glimpse of a wadded paper inside the fire place :

ms_3918_resize.png

How many houses does this guy have ? Beside the chair we find another screwdriver.

ms_3930_resize.png

And underneath the couch cushion we find a stack of small treasure. Of course we taste the cheetos :

ms_3944_resize.png

Guess to whom the nylons belong to :

ms_3948_resize.png

Naturally we confiscate them as evidence. We also grab the small change and the handcuff key. Another key can be found inside the ashtray :

ms_3970_resize.png

As you can see the TV is playing reruns of some ancient show.

ms_3980_resize.png

On the table we find some stuff, but without much importance :

ms_3986_resize.png

We decide to rummage through his desk...

ms_4023_resize.png

Bummer. Reluctantly we look at the Mortgage Book :

Tex1.png
It's a payment book for a beach house located near San Diego, NC 6470.

So now we know how to get to the beach house. Searching the trash reveals another paper :

ms_4054_resize.png

Bah, more useless info on Morgan's sex-life. Tex resists the urge to sniff on Della's nylons and instead inspects the rug :

ms_4061_resize.png

Huh, we decide to move it and we find some loose boards !

Tex1.png
Typical.

Underneath the floorboards there's a small compartment. Inside we come across a bunch of goodies :

ms_4075_resize.png

Not bad !

Tex1.png
The deed is about a property of 1 acre near bakersfield. NC 1710.

Another potential lead. We grab the 50 rounds of ammo, and head out. It's pawning time !

ms_4123_resize.png

%21PWNED%21.jpg

Tex1.png
Now all that remains is returning those nylons to the rightful owner. I hope there's a finder's fee...

Tex is a true gentleman.

Well, next time we'll break into more rich people's homes and steal more valuables. We may even get more clues for our actual case. Stay tuned !

Recently we've been investigating MTC personnel. Ron Morgan --scientist, playboy, rich bastard-- has fallen onto our radar. We'll continue digging his dirt.

Code:
Chapter 6 :
___ ____ ____ _ _ _ ____ _ _ ____ _ ___ _ _ _ ____
|__] |__/ |__| | |\ | [__ |\/| |___ | | | |\ | | __
|__] | \ | | | | \| ___] | | |___ |___ | | | \| |__]

We found a property deed in his house, that will be our next destination :

ms_4110_resize.png
ms_4137_resize.png

Dead end, probably another sex nest, but we also have one more place of his to check out. We head over to his beach house...

ms_4148_resize.png
ms_4155_resize.png

Damn, why can't we break in people's homes without any stupid alarms going off ? We search frantically for hidden switches and strange compartments...

ms_4159_resize.png

ms_4164_resize.png

We check out the label on the third switch :

ms_4179_resize.png

Security systems in the future are ingenious. After disabling the alarm we uncover a hidden safe by pulling the second switch. Unfortunately it's locked so we move on to search the rest of the place. On top of the fridge something catches our eye :

ms_4253_resize.png

A-HA ! Important evidence, we pocket it.

We proceed to rampage the fridge. Hey, there's some frozen pizza inside !

pizza.gif

We chunk it down and wash it with an old can of juice, when suddenly, we choke on something :

ms_4274_resize.png

Ahh, it was a clever hiding place for the safe key, but I guess Morgan never took into consideration how much of a pig Tex can be... Inside the safe we find phat loot.

ms_4290_resize.png

We confiscate the dough and then we have a look at the fish tank.

ms_4298_resize.png

Tex1.png
The passcard ! I must... grab it...

ms_4300_resize.png

Ouch ! We must find a way to get hold of that card. At the base of the tank there's a book about piranha :

ms_4312_resize.png

Tex1.png
Ron is such a sweet guy...

...I open the book and read that piranha make lousy companions and are untrustworthy babysitters for children and small pets.

yeah.gif

We continue to check for ingeniously hidden compartments and we strike gold :

ms_4333_resize.png

This key brings us closer to our retiring plan :

ms_4357_resize.png

Tex Murphy, thief extraordinaire. As we search for more valuables, we find a chess book, Inside the book there's a memo :

ms_4377_resize.png

Another chess term huh ? I'm guessing it's "STALEMATE". Now if only we could get that card...

ms_4385_resize.png

Tex1.png
Hmmm, I have a cunning plan...

ms_4395_resize.png

Finally, we can use the computer.

ms_4406_resize.png

ms_4414_resize.png

ms_4416_resize.png

Damn, that Morgan dude sure has many talents.

Anyway, it seems there's nothing more we can get from here. The next people on our MTC paylist are Greg Call and Big Jim Slade. We'll have to ask detective Celement for their whereabouts...

ms_4444_resize.png

ms_4467_resize.png

Clements.png
You're not too popular around here. The Chief has told us we're not supposed to give out information on this case to anyone, and your name was specifically mentioned.

Tex1.png
Don't you find it strange some of the big-shots are taking such an interest in me ?

Clements.png
I'm taking a big risk even talking to you. This professor, Call, committed suicide in his apartment (NC:4753). Shot himself with a .38. Looks open and shut.

Tex1.png
Another suicide ?!

Clements.png
Yeah, I'm starting to get suspicious about all the suicides and before we got there, a couple of goons from the Law and Order Party had gone through the house pretty thoroughly.

Tex1.png
Law and order ? What's the deal with those bastards ?

ms_4498_resize.png

Tex1.png
Yeah, they scare me too, but I'm easily scared. Anyway, I'm also looking for a guy called Big Jim Slade.

Clements.png
Slade's a dangerous man. He's from Detroit, and when he's town there's always trouble brewing. We've never been able to pin anything on him, but I'm sure he's killed a number of people.

Tex1.png
A hitman ?

Clements.png
If you're looking for him, good luck. He's likely to find you before you find him. A guy named Ron Meat might be able to help you, though.

Tex1.png
Thanks for the help, Steve.

Ok ! let's go beat some info out of Ron's ugly mug.

ms_4515_resize.png

ms_4530_resize.png

RonMeat.png
I saw him a week ago throwing money around like it grew on trees. He said he's been real busy lately, and that means people are getting bumped off.

Tex1.png
Where can I find him ?

RonMeat.png
I don't know where he is now, but if I hear something, I'll let you know.

Yeah, I wouldn't bet my money on that. That hitman sure is slippery. Anyway, now we know Greg Call's address, let's head that way...

ms_4537_resize.png

And guess what, we're greeted by Law and Order thugs. They're not happy to see us :

ms_4552_resize.png

ms_4565_resize.png

We respond with extreme prejudice and then proceed to enter Call's apartment.

ms_4568_resize.png

So, a new mysterious navigation code near the mountain is our next destination...

ms_4581_resize.png

ms_4587_resize.png

Who the hell is this guy, batman ?

ms_4593_resize.png

Let's check his shit out. Underneath the fax, we uncover the drawer key, inside the drawer we find the stuff that makes the world go round :

ms_4648_resize.png

We turn our attention to the big, fat file. Inside there's a map :

ms_4670_resize.png

Tex1.png
Lost Dutchman diamond mine ? Definitely not a scam.

At the right side of the area, there's vine that has climbed over the stalagmite. It seems there's something underneath it...

ms_4683_resize.png

In a blind stroke of genius, we decide to bite the vines !

ms_4689_resize.png

FUUUUUUU+copy.png

We'll have to find some other way to move the vine. We turn our gaze to the protective chamber that lies in the middle of the cave :

ms_4696_resize.png

Tex1.png
Hmmm, there's a key and a vial in there. The vial is labeled "Nerve Agent".

This could be important. We try to grab it with the mechanical arms :

ms_4701_resize.png

SHIT ! The chamber has been sealed and the nerve agent is loose !

ms_4707_resize.png

That's some ingenious Lab security, if I may say so. Nerve agent is loose ? Seal the lab and kill the stupid scientists.

hmmm.gif

Finding the button that opens the door isn't easy. We have to actually move the stalagmite...

ms_4717_resize.png

Pushing the button leads to freedom :

ms_4722_resize.png

We wait for a bit for the nerve agent to dissolve into the atmosphere, and we head back inside. This time we pick up the key.

ms_4731_resize.png

Tex1.png
The things I do for a living...

It's the key that opens a circuit box. The circuit box controls the big energy field.

ms_4743_resize.png

We turn it off and proceed to check out the cabinet.

ms_4750_resize.png

The doors are stuck from rust, but using the 3-1 OIL that we found in Linsky's lab, we're able to get it open. Inside we find more goodies :

ms_4757_resize.png

There's also a big pole here, and I'm not talking our potato friends :

ms_4786_resize.png

Tex1.png
A 10-feet pole, huh ? Exactly what I need to get that box from inside the Gorilla cage in Cal Davis' lab !:smug:

There's nothing more for us here ATM, so we head back to Davis' lab.

ms_4850_resize.png

ms_4866_resize.png

All right, we found the orange passcard ! Let's check out Davis' computer :

ms_4872_resize.png

We already know the password.

ms_4876_resize.png

ms_4877_resize.png
ms_4880_resize.png

ms_4884_resize.png
ms_4887_resize.png

Tex1.png
No shit, Sherlock. Haven't you watched planet of the apes ?

Things are getting clearer. We're talking about mind control that results to brain melting. You don't need to be a brian surgeon to know that this is scary stuff, but that just strengthens our resolve. We need to impress the blond babe, so we'll have to get to the bottom of this.

Time to split.

I played all Tex games except Overlord, and the first one is still my favourite. It really feels like a PI game, you have to take notes and shit. The other ones are just regular adventures.

Caught back up. Godspeed, ghostdog. May I ask, is it a some-parts-of-Europe thing to put a space between the end of a sentence and a question mark, exclamation mark, or colon?

Yeah, the fact that you need to take notes adds to the enjoyment. The way the game is structured with a multitudes of contacts and a lot of legwork, helps in this regard.

Satan in the Suburbs
Hah, not really, I'm just used at putting that space from when I'm using italics and without a space the question marks seem stuck onto the last letter.
