Forgive me codex for I'm about to sin, but I'd like to find someone with indepth investment who can navigate through the Minecraft mod community and tell me if my vision of minecraft from years ago has come true through mods, and if so, which ones and how does one install them this days.

they mostly add stuff like rabbits and comand blocks and redstone stuff.
