A Polish indie dev team called Rangers of the North has released the first demo version of their Lord of the Rings cRPG project (in Polish only). Here's a short description from the game's website:

Lord of the Rings RPG is (or rather will be) a unique, and almost perfect game. Although it uses FPP view, it won't be another Quake shooter or hack and slash like EA's Lord of the Rings. It also won't be another game that is about endless quests to kill someone like Baldur's Gate series. Our LotR will be a real RPG!

Unique and almost perfect? I love their modesty! The demo can be downloaded here.

Nice dig at Baldur's Gate there. Still, you have to wonder what kind of CRPG a bunch of Tolkien fans in Poland could come up with.

If these guys can make a 'real' rpg then I'll eat my hat.

The main site seems to be encrypted! I can't decipher the alien writings.

The game still looks like shit and right now I pretty much have 0.00% interest in another fantasy game.

Well they're certainly very boastful. If they fuck up, they'll never live it down for the rest of their lives.

Ausir, I wonder if you have a direct link to a screenshots page if they have one.

The screenshots aren't helping much... au contraire.

The engine is pretty though. Any word on the combat system?
