Some dude by the name of Jim Norwood apparently let slip in an interview at 3D Realms (the Duke Nukem guys) that a team at EA is working on an RPG set in Middle-Earth called Lord of the Rings: The White Council. There's been no confirmation of this from EA, so we'll see if it bears out.

Well, I'll make one prediction - it's going to suck copious amounts of ass.

Let me guess: an "action RPG" for the XBox 360, then MAYBE for PC? Hurrah!

I wonder how the official annoucement will be:
"Play as Aragorn or Legolas in the deepest and most realistic Action RPG ever! See middle-earth as never before, using the most cutting-edge DirectX 10 technology! Fight the orc hordes and experience the most realistic physics ever with UltraBlaster® physics engine."

If it's about the white council it is either set during the establishment and the coming of the maiar wizards, or say - regarding it's actions in later ages (Gandalf skulking around Dol Guldur et c). Either way, I refuse to have any kind of hopes for any lotr game - considering who'se behind it, and the recent slew of subpar blah-blah licensed mainstream oriented games.

I tend to just dismiss LOTR games myself because that setting was a part of one of the biggest WTFs in gaming history where EA got the rights to the LOTR movies, but VU got the rights to the LOTR books, so EA couldn't make any games with stuff in them that wasn't in the movie (like Tom Bombadil for instance) and VU couldn't make any games in the setting that looked like the movies. Super retarded.

Hmm... equipping the ring would make you see ghostly stuff, not look through clothes, RPer.
On the other hand, it may mean hot nazgul porn. I bet that would be fun, if you're into necrophilia and gerontophilia.

Nah. Most of the stuff in the movie looked sweet and pretty much canon. Weathertop looked a bit gay but can't think of anything else which jumped out as being retarded. They did a good job on those films visually.

Ah ok. You're not talking settings though which is what I thought couldn't be used in the games by VU.

(edited for clarity)
