 A quadriplegic counts for a capable, competent leader now?
Your competence does not hinge on the number of your active limbs, you know?

And we are better suited for Orthodox diplomacy than for the Fire Cult diplomacy with a breathing GFF, as one might have noticed. The 'unknown reason' we keep her around is to broker a truce between the factions. The girl only had experience with the orthodox forces gathered by Mao Sanjiao. It is quite possible she has an opinion on them that differs from reality quite a bit.

And obviously, none of the orthodoxes have viewed the cultists as anything but enemies until now. Maybe we can change that. Song Lingshu knows Yunzi as just a girl.

Once that is out of the way, she will stay with us for a while.

Wang would shift the nose. The Sword Saint would imagine a backscratcher. If there is a will, there is a way.

So, A is trusting the orthodox sects to negotiate a "truce" and then allow her to walk away with us, the Man Tiger Pig?

For one, they aren't attacking the cult at the moment and are allowing a retreat, so that's as good as it will get: let's take the chance to do just that, retreat from the field and offer her our help. Ahura is in absolutely no state to do anything or command anyone, his authority is shot to hell. C will pretty much hand control of the Cult to Yunzi.

And why would the orthodox sects let her stay with us in the first place? She would either ask for a peaceful retreat and then leave, or they would demand her as a hostage. In our state, we can't say no.

Oh, absolutely. I like the idea.
And let's also not return her to the Fire Cult.

And you have this on what authority? Gods have fallen harder. They didn't stop being Gods.

Baltika9 said:

So you are saying there is not difference between letting Ahura live or die in the previous choice? Somehow I doubt that.
Do not count the man out until he is dead.

What would they do? Throw her in a Beijing dungeon?
Why would they need a hostage? Against whom? What for? They've won. Why would they need her at all?

If Qilin asks for a new toy, would her stepdad refuse her? :P (Disclaimer: this is a joke. Please do not try and spin it in any other way)

A for me. SO whats the reason that C is recomended as better choice?
Sorry that I cant keep track as often, its the job. :/
Oh and can we send the Fire Cult maidens to our master for training so to speak? They do kind of owe us.

Can't blame you for not reading through all this crap. C's case:
Don't forget the Taishan Youths and Su Liaojing (not a hundred percent sure he's here) who will vouch against us and her. I just don't feel comfortable with entrusting our and Yunzi's life to them with A.

As for the vote, I think I'll go, because I feel that anything else will lead to jer hating and resenting Jing's "intervention:" her new people are broken, their "god" is a cripple for life with no means to rule or rape anyone, especially not someone of Yunzi's caliber,I see this as a "if you truly love someone, then let them go; if they come back, they're yours," like we did with Cao'er and the Emei. And I want to avoid being an immature control freak bastard boyfriend, a proud girl like her will resent that. Let her help them, and she will live us all the more for it.

As for the Cult, we're basically handing leadership over to Yunzi. I have the utmost faith in the girl.
'Sides, I have the feeling that their now-strongest dude and her pseudo-uncle, Xsaora Vairya, has massive BRO feelings for us now. We just earned his fucking respect for life, I want some learning* and a rematch from him.
:salute:
*Bodybuilding tips and that fist-and-palm thingy.
On one hand, it's possible that keeping Yunzi with us will give us time to talk about her cult's problems. Thing is, the last time we made choices with the intention of learning more about the Fire Cult, Jing didn't go into the issue at all, out of respect for Yunzi. Yunzi and the Fire Cult are also most likely to going hate us for the abduction, which might ruin our chances of helping to settle this peacefully in the long run. Then again, Yunzi might understand that we had good intentions, but that might not count for much when we're literally kidnapping her.

On the other hand, returning their Holy Maiden to them could be a show of good faith, and open up avenues to talk with them down the line. Yunzi, for one, should be willing to negotiate with us if the need arises, as she hasn't had problems talking to us before despite her cult's restrictions. Look at how Vairya obeyed her, when it came down to it. That might change if fuck up how we treat her here. But it could also mean that we lose contact with Yunzi entirely. However, the Cult has shown its willingness to talk to Jing before, way back at the tournament, and Vairya seems interested in Jing after his display of prowess, so we might have an in there.

Overall, this is a complicated issue that doesn't hinge completely on just the actions of Yunzi and Jing. She is a key player, yes, but both of them are just fucking teenagers at this point. Assuming that we know better than her is arrogant and patronizing. I just think regardless of whether we return her to the cult or not, there are uncertainties in all the choices regarding how the Fire Cult problems will play out, and we will need to make further choices down the line that will affect the issue more directly. And in that case, I much prefer the choice that doesn't treat Yunzi like an idiot or shortsighted for wanting to rush back and help her people.

Perhaps if treave could elaborate on what Jing plans on doing with Yunzi in the case of a successful A and B? Because that "You will not let her go" makes me think of this image:

screencap199.png

I feel like going with the A or B choices might just be personality-affecting decisions that turn us into this setting's Kinzo.
Okay, but that's sort of like saying that you want Jing to forget about notions like helping people that we're close to (i.e. Guo Fu, Yu, Qilin, etc.) when that's an integral part of her character. She probably doesn't care much for the Ahura Mazda because he's a dickhead, but you aren't really ever going to convince her not to help the downtrodden people in the Fire Cult, like those handmaidens that we saved. It's just who she is and it's as much a part of her as YOLOTIGERing is to Jing.
And any benevolence of the orthodox sects goes as far as allowing the cultists to flee with their tails between their legs and perhaps sparing the life of their sacred figurehead. A truce, yes, but helping out the Fire Temple? No. Considering that the battle only served to deepen the enmity between both sides, it's impossible to push for any form of cooperation at this moment. You don't have the clout. Neither does the Sword Saint.
So A really is fucking pointless: the besy we can hope for is an unharassed retreat for the cult, even Shagguan can't work out a better deal. It's just a question of wether or not we want yo keep Yunzi with us against her will, or if we want to help her and her faction.

That's better than no deal at all.

Any help that Yunzi can get would have to be obtained through the prince, or through the Wudu Cult. Coincidentally, the very influental persons from these factions would be around Yunzi in A.

That's the thing, though. The sects are already allowing a retreat by standing here and not charging. Since we're not getting a better deal anyway, what's the point of trying to "negotiate" a better one. If you just want to keep Yunzi and pump her ror info, why aren't you voting for B?

I said it already. I want to have both sides attempt speaking to each other.

If we manage to secure a truce, that would mean the orthodoxes accepting the Fire Cult as a faction that can be dealt with. As a side. In (a distant) future, maybe an equal.

If a truce is not secured, then, with no official status, the Fire Cult may be exiled from the lands completely. They would be fair game.

Meanwhile, I want them to accept the thought that Yunzi is not a flaming demon and a symbol of their hated enemy, but a person. Song Lingshu knows that. Nobody else does.

I don't know what 'punishment' the choice speaks of, but I am certain that killing a lone girl after the battle is not the orthodox way. Truth is, I don't know how it would turn out, but I think the worst is behind us.

And honestly, I am sick and tired of running away from them.

Thanx for the good summary.:brodex: I dont really care for Fire CUlt as such, so thats why A option looks good.
Guess well see how it turns out.

I think with all this talk about Yunzi we are forgetting other things.

Personally, I would like to see the scene with Wang Zhengchong to the end. If the man is still alive, he might have parting words with us. He explicitly noticed us on the battlefield, after all.

Or he might even recognize Yunzi as a granddaughter of a man he once turned in. I think it weighed on his conscience.

Wouldn't want to miss it if that is true.

+M The only option that has us explicitly leaving the field and missing out on everything scene here is B, both A and C have us stay for the time being.

Can you answer this post, then?

If Yunzi stays, orthodoxes will notice her. That's A.

If we release her, she goes away. Immediately. Or the orthodoxes will notice her. And we will be escorting her.

Sure:
treave, does B mean that we run off now without finding out what happened to the Grand Taoist and the Fire Lord and the aftermath of the battle?
You run off but you'll still find out what happened.
Furthermore, C only specifically says that we are escorting Yunzi to the Cult's side of the field, nothing more and nothing less. Which means B is the only option that has us leave the field.

Logic: not found.

B is leaving the orthodoxes. That is what treave said. Nothing more, nothing less.

So is C. Unless you can give me an explanation of how it is possible to stay there with Yunzi. Who will be leaving once we release her.

We can't stay and escort her simultaneously. Not enough time-space mastery for that.

The escort is probably something like going across the street Nevill. i dont think the Grand Taoist pushed the groups too far apart.

For some reason, I placed Wang with the orthodoxes in my mind. That's what 48h update schedule does to people!

How so? She explicitly asked to be carried over to the Fire Cult lines (even said please) and they do need her. Holding her back by force while her faction suffers won't really win her heart, I think. If we actually offer her and her Cult our help, and work with her and not against her, I think that it will be the better way.
