Pretty much, yes. Techniques matter. The Thunder-Breaking kick is physically powerful, but note that just the second move of the qi-based Xianglong Palms caused him to bleed even with your inferior neigong behind it.

Treave, you mentioned that learning the Yuhe Finger would improve our skill at qi emission. Does that mean it would improve our Xianglong Palms technique?

I hope Kipeci reconsiders. He's a pretty BRO guy since the EPIC days. He does make some good points on how it's a bad idea to pass up on Unarmed..

Any idea how we'd squeeze it in? Ideally we'd have Yuhe Finger for qi disruption, but we have the qi leeching ability, which sorta has that same "qi manipulation" role. I just don't know how we'd work it in or what we'd have to remove.

It would help you learn higher levels of the technique more easily. I mean, as a foundation and all. All of this should begin coming naturally to you as your neigong skill rises, though. Gradually.

Leeching doesn't disrupt their qi so much as it weakens it. If we're using qi leeching to overcome their defenses, we're in an endurance fight to see if we can suck their defenses dry before they beat us. While that does become more of an option between neigong boost and leech boost (esp. if grabbing endurance boost), against master level I'd rather just disable their neigong with a good Yuhe Finger. This should even let us do what the Grand Taoist did against Ahura (although probably not on the same level). And Nevill is right, our qi is probably our best weapon if we'd just weaponize it.

Esquilax, what package are you looking at for squeezing in?

Qi-leeching should disrupt qi well enough. Isn't that right, treave?

It drains them and prevents them from using qi techniques properly if you are actively grabbing on to them and sucking like Yang Xue, but that means you're not attacking either.

Say, if Cao'er will be travelling with us, can't we learn the Yuhe Finger from her on the road? That's how Yao was teaching us when we were an apprentice of his.

Bros, I get the lulz/appeal behind the Yuhe Finger, but I'd rather we pick up the rarest and more difficult to find stuff while we're here.

You could but it's always faster to train it in a focused, stable environment. This applies to all the other options of course.

Finger techniques are extremely rare and difficult, though. And this isn't a lulz technique. Going for lulz would be "Zhang Jue's mystery option" which despite sounding interesting also sounds like "shit that's non-essential" and we have a huge list of priorities.

Yes, good point. I had meant to say that they are both qi manipulation, but the techniques are obviously far different in the way you describe. Still, I am a bit reluctant to try out two qi manipulation techniques, but fuck if they aren't good ones.

    Hmm... let's see:

Theoretically, we could replace qi leeching with Yuhe Finger. We could also remove Throwing/Sleight-of-hand and the basic sword boost to fit in Yuhe Finger as well. I really don't want to get rid of the Reikan boost because it's a pressure point technique and we need the Reikan to make us more effective at hitting pressure points (which we're actually decent at).

However, the best bet would be to get rid of Throwing and Spider Silk, and sub in Yuhe Finger + Qi Leeching. Whaddaya think?

By lulz, I meant 'injecting people with poisonous and corrosive qi to make their heads explode.' I know that it is a rare technique, but Cao'er will be trekking with us, we can learn this on the road to the Temple, for instance.

    It's a pressure point technique.

    We have four PER.

If we go for Yuhe, Reikan becomes an absolutely necessity and I would even consider throwing the 5 month PER +1 training in there.

Are we "passing up" on Unarmed? I assumed this training period was us taking the Sword Saint's advice and finally stopping our almost complete neglect of swords, not giving up on Unarmed. We want to master Unarmed and Swords, because that's what Tiger Adjutant is built for. Tiger Adjutant is also built for crazy neigong stuff, which is why we need the END stuff right now. We're not abandoning Unarmed, Swords, or Strength.

Hell, the reason for training up to decent competence with Saber is still because it makes one of our Sword techniques even better.

For qi manipulation mastery? Hmm, that sounds pretty good as a standalone module, but I really like the original Qi Leeching package.

Ah, but we have a skill of 5, which is above the cap. Still, you do have a point here. We're not building our training around the Yuhe Finger, we're building it around our neigong skills as the focal point. You're right, perhaps it's unnecessary.

I'm just spitballing here, I'm still on the Kenjutsu package.

True, we're not abandoning anything, we're just taking the Saint's advice to heart. But I feel bad that Kipeci is taking it kinda hard; it sucks when a character development option you like doesn't get much support. However, that's just how it goes when you have to work within the constraints.

That's my opinion on it as well, but there is no reason to prevent people from voting on it.

Absinthe, would a Qi Manipulation Package with qi leeching and Yuhe Finger be your preference for a six-month module?

7 with Reikan. 8 if we get +1 Per as you recommend. We also have pressure points at 5 which is good enough to use in combat. Sorry to keep bothering you treave, but how precisely do we need to aim Yuhe Finger and will it be possible for us to use Reikan while using our Neigong?

We also need a qi technique to destroy these defenses really badly. It's either Yuhe Finger, endurance competition, or hardcore smashing. Incidentally, if we resort to an endurance competition, it won't be long before they realize hardcore smashing us before we leech them dry is the way to go. I'd rather use Yuhe Finger.

Yes, I could get behind that.

Yeah. I'm just saying, we still want lots of Unarmed, even if we're not training it up right now. Hell, I'm still pushing for Wudang Qinggong as soon as we can get it, which includes Unarmed, and is the main reason aside from time constraints that I didn't put "run around catching tigers" in the package I wrote up.

Alright, I'll put it down as the Absinthian Qi Manipulation Package.

Still, I'm not on board with it because it's a pretty iffy advantage: we have a natural PER of 4, the Reikan only works in situations where Jing is completely calm, so our 7 PER is not a solid. With our Pressure Point skills at 5, our PER at 4/7, it seems much less solid a bet than spiderwebs+SoH+qi leeching, because we're basically relying on Jing always having his Reikan active and our PP 5 being enough to actually make a noticeable difference.

We can already use Reikan in combat. 5 pressure points (see 5 sleight-of-hand, which might also help land pressure point techniques) is also enough to use in combat. Yuhe Finger being what it is, I don't think we need the best pressure points to fuck them up. Our qi will do that on its own. It just needs an entry vector. While some pressure points will be better than others, this technique will be quite strong. Make no mistake.

The technique requires that you hit the precise points to be able to introduce your qi in a way that makes the most effect.
