    Saber/Sword/Kenjutsu Packages

To help people decide, here is a side-by-side comparison of these three packages:

Commonalities: Saber + Swords + Kenjutsu synergy (3, 13, 15), Reikan (22), Neigong + Qi-Drain (25, 26). Anabanana Kenjutsu and Kashmir Finger Dance have the option of improving silk and SoH (8, 24). LWC and Kashmir allow us to get Zhang Jue's MYSTERY technique.

Main unique selling points of each: LWC has Unarmed Mastery on top of all the above, Anabanana Kenjutsu has that very crucial END +1, and Kashmir has Yuhe Finger which paired with neigong-absorbing could make us a devastating qi-disrupter.

It's up to you which one you find more important.

I wonder why Xiahou Yu is at the bottom of the combat tier if cunning makes up for everything? Anyway, I've beyond gotten your point. Yes, we need offensive techniques if we're going to be a part of the pugilistic world. The thing is, we have an appreciable number of offensive techniques, some of them very strong all in diverse ways of their own. Experimental techniques never tested against the sects they're supposed to be a counter to don't strike me as strokes of brilliance that should fill me with an overwhelming passion to ignore everything else and jeopardize our ability to create more techs in the near future so that we can find out that, like the anti-Wudang fist, they're perfectly serviceable moves but can't by themselves carry the day. If we know little then starting the spark that allows Jing to regularly come up with his own seems to be the proper thing to do, not to learn three and squander potential. As for underdeveloped, I'm voting to upgrade the claws, aren't I?

How many techs does he know? Does he know anything in the way of martial arts at all?

Excellent. There is only one (Chuzhan Fist), and it served us pretty well on it's own so far.

Yeah, come with your own lvl1 techniques instead of mastering what you know in a year you have left until the Summit. That's the plan.

One tech in two years does not qualify as indepth training of martial arts.

Well, it's now been another 15 pages of this that I'm not fucking reading. At this point I couldn't care less what we train in, the only thing that matters to me is:

That we waste the least possible amount of time on this island.

    Yes to praying.

    That is all.

Well Kashmir Slippers' package is interesting so I will add it to my vote.

Esquilax's Package with Qi> Anabanana's Original Package with Qi> Kashmir Slippers' Package with the unarmed bundle

    Also still No to praying.

treave, since the Qilin SoH upgrade is a one-month thing, can we learn it on the road to, say, the Cult, which also takes a month?

Well if cunning makes up for strength and experience all the time, surely there's no object?

It's okay, but I wouldn't sabotage Jing's potential to pick up something like it, especially since we already have it and a number of other moves that basically take its place.

I'm voting to upgrade the claws FFS, you're like a broken record here. Half the techniques presented are purely experimental, you think they're going to be level 9 ones that part the clouds and shatter the earth?

The point of training is to get stronger. Jing has a wide range of moves already, he will have more by the time he's done cavorting around Tibet. Problem?

You don't have much opportunity to practice it while on the road, unless you want to take two months to get there.

Or are you saying he can totally focus on training while walking/riding at the same time without losing any speed of travel?

And Sleight is already at 5.

Guys why do you keep putting qi leeching together with swords. As far as I remember treave said we can only leech qi if we have direct physical contact. That means no qi leeching through swords.

We should only pair qi leeching with unarmed. Also why do you all go for +1 Str/End/Agi when at the cost of the same months we can have not only all three of them but also +2 neigong.

I'll come later with some 24 months builds that work on synergy.

Because if we get started developing our qi leeching now, we'll open more developments down the line. We skipped out on learning from YX, so wr have to do it the long and hard way.
Besides, I already made a great case for SoH+Qi Leech+Silk.

We are all voting for +2 neigong. This +1 stat is on top of that, though I feel it is unnecessary.

I've listed the most popular builds here. If there is anything I forgot, please tell me and I'll add yours.

Qi leeching enhances our unarmed, which we are already almost-a-master of. Sword techs are separate (for now, at least). As I understood it, the point is to swap sword and unarmed styles at will.

We can learn to qi leech eventually through swords. Hell, that improved qi leech training might let us.

If you want full on qi leeching/unarmed mastery all the way, here is my Unarmed Mastery build and Kipeci's Unarmed Mastery build. I'm going for increasing base END to make us durable enough to use that neigong consistently, especially with the way Codex keeps throwing Jing into incredibly dangerous fights. I don't agree with increasing base STR, but Kipeci's option is there if you want it.

    Added to the package list.

Hell, I'll just put a link in my signature until this madness ends.

So far, the only thing in common is that we need neigong mastery.

Alright. Seems we've agreed on a time limit. Here are my votes though. Call it a package if you will, I don't care:

    35. Learn Yuhe Finger from Cao'er. (3 months), really. I want this. Not least because treave told us it'd be the first step in learning how to project qi out of the body. :salute:

    25. Undergo strenuous neigong training to unlock your potential (Neigong +2, 6 months, Yuanshi Hundun now gives +2 to STR, AGI and END), better neigong? Yes please.

    21. Attempt to learn a random new technique of Zhang Jue’s choosing, that he created from his travels in Nippon. (2 months), I know it's a wild card, but I simply cannot pass this one by.

    5. Intensive basic thrown weapons training. (Thrown Weapons +4, 1 month), I really want Jing to have more options than just jumping straight into the fray. Picking off enemies at a distance seems quite useful, and for just 1 month of training, this looks like a steal.

    14. Intensive hand-to-hand combat sessions with Zhang Jue. (Unarmed +1, 6 months), yes. Cap this one out as soon as possible.

    22. Further improve your mastery of Reikan by training with Yoriwaka. (+1 Reikan PER, 1 month), yes!! Let's improve the Reikan. Cheap and awesome, c'mon, it's just 1 month!

    19. Improve your understanding of the Shouwang Mad Claws technique. (2 months), this lets us improve our second-best unarmed tech.

    26. Learn how to absorb qi from other people at a faster rate by ‘practicing’ with Qilin and Cao’er. (3 months), mhmmm... "Practice"... Besides, having opponents go WTF?! sounds just up Jing's alley. Gotta look out for early signs of insanity though

Just a thought. Qi vampirism is rumored to lead to insanity. Judging by the chained madman, that much seems evident. Beware that too much qi leeching might make it difficult to keep Reikan going.

Also, jab them with the Yuhe finger, inject a bit of Jing's chaotic qi, and while they're feeling off, leech some of their own qi back. Win-win. :smug:

Neigong Fuckery Packages (Neigong, Qi Leeching, Yuhe Finger)

All right, as comparison, here are three packages which have neigong + qi leeching + Yuhe Finger for maximum neigong fuckery (25, 26, 35). All of them also have Reikan (22), which is essential for Yuhe Finger to work. Kashmir Finger Dance focuses on kenjutsu and silk, Azira's going for Unarmed Mastery, and Absinthe is going for Yuchang and swords and the +1 PER. Both Azira and Absinthe want thrown weapons.

So everyone has their own package now? How are the votes counted? If separately, then this is going to end in clusterfuck. If in packages, then we are never going to reach some sort of compromise to please even half of the voters.

    Unarmed Mastery Packages

More comparison posts, because why the hell not.

    Kipeci Unarmed Mastery

    Banana Unarmed Mastery

Pretty much identical, just need to decide whether you want swords over wildcard and where you fall on the STR vs END debate.

Other packages with Unarmed Mastery include Azira's package, which upgrades Shouwang claws, and LWC Weaponmaster, which has no other unarmed techniques save for the base unarmed mastery.

Well, I'm not really going to care if most people vote for their own package and something wins with just three collective votes or something.

But if you guys are tired of the discuss (already!?) and want a more stream-lined, guided session, I can draw up three or four basic templates based on the more commonly asked for skills, built around a theme, with a few miscellanous optional parts, and everyone resigns themselves to not having everything they want.

Or we could go on with this until one package is left standing at the end, less work for me.

That would be great. Just so we can browse our options.

Also I'll vote Anabanana's Unarmed Mastery since it's fairly similar to my own (mine was 1 year and 6 months however)
