Since participating in the tournament is taking this vote, and the second part is at a staltemate, i'm willing to whore my vote compromise like a true gentleman. I'm going to support 2- A1, so long as we go for 1- A3, to make ourselves as recognizable to Yunzi as possible.

I would also advocate wearing the Ashina Wolf Fang amulet on our neck for that.

 

I missed that kills are allowed. We'd better go 1A1 then. We'd still benefit from wearing the mask, but we'd also cause most of the 8 sect wannabes to quit, meaning we'll have less competition and also that we'll frustrate the prince's efforts to get a preview of their abilities.

 

If 1A3 wins, no way I am going to go 2Ax. That's just asking to be thrown out of the city.

I am still on A2A2, but will flop to 2C if A3 wins.

Oh, and Yunzi will recognize us regardless. The only man with a mask on? Come on!

 

Uh, whut? The whole purpose of wearing a mask is that no one recognizes us on those two separate occasions. But I'm cool with A3 C too.

Easy:

1 A3 has us going into the tournament as Xu Jing. 2 A3 has us going into the exhibition in our pig mask, which on;y a few will even recognize, let alone link to us. Remember, none of the bigwigs are here, so BJ isn't likely to jump out of a dark corner and declare "MTP is Xu Jing, he swindled you! Marshal, ban him!"

 

So... Xu Jing is participating in the tournament under his name, and people know our name. Panic spreads like fire among the lesser fighters. Next thing they know, there is a lone out of place person in a pig's mask crashing the exhibition. Come on, it's not that unusual to wear a pig's mask on a royal ceremony. It's not like we whip the paranoia up beforehand and cause them to suspect Shulgi Man Tiger Pig in every man whose face they don't see. Nope, nobody will know a thing. Only a few will ever suspect anything.

What I don't quite get is the second A choice - does this mean we incapacitate a fighter that will participate in a match against the prince and take his place? And this option is winning? Are we YOLOing again?

 

Or, y'know, we just sign up with no fanfare, then go with our pig mask into the exhibition and calmly show up the next morning in the tournament.

It's not like the city will automatically recognize our name and put the whole city on high alert and declare a search for the Xu Jing immediately. This is the day before the tournament, it's kinda too late for our opposition to hype us up in twelve hours. Yeah, word will start spreading quietly, but I don't think that the realization will set in until the actual tournament starts. Not ideal, but I think it's the best 1A 2A combo we have.
Anyway, my ideal choice is A3 C, but judging by the raw scores of both A options, it's not gonna happen due to how the votes are counted.

Fully intend to troll by throwing the final match, saying Jing was only there to test the other fighter's mettle, then letting whomever was about to get ripped a new one in the final get the shrew, then going to attend on the prince and Yunzi.

By "throwing the match", I mean not fighting, loudly claiming we did not in fact intend to win the princess' hand, as we have enough current and future wives as is.

 

Come on Nevill, you have been arguing for the YOLO for pages now, well let's go full YOLO... vote A3 A3 and see if they have the balls to do anything about it.

 

A3 doesn't mention Xu Jing coming up to the stand and yelling out his participation in the tournament. All they'll see is our name at the end of the registration forms, less than a day before the tournament starts.

Going to the tournament and the exhibtion match is asking for trouble. In the exhibition match we'll stick out as a sore thumb and it's going to come out and bite us in the ass in the tournament later.
This is going to lead to prison life, isn't it?

 

Look, it's less than a day from the tournament's start and we're at the very bottom of the list. Not a whole lot of fighters will be signing up after us, and even less will be able to connect Xu Jing->MTP on the spot.
The plan with A3 A1 is that we let Yunzi know our presence in the third most obvious way (behind C and B, of course), and then follows that up by participating publicly in the tournament, which will give her ample opportunities to track us down if she needs us and needs totalk, plus alerts any Imperial agents, like Gao Ying, to our presence here. Of course, I still vastly prefer A3 C.

You're doing a lot of frantic handwaving with "this is bad! and this is bad! and this is bad, too!" but aren't proposing an actual plan. If you have a better one, put it out there.

 

Second B is good. We go there completely legally with two girls at our side, watch the exhibition matches, have a drink, chat up with Yunzi, let her know we will participate in the tournament to make her even more jealous. Why bother with fighting if we don't have to, what does it give us?

 

Guys, we need to participate in this tournament publicly; Shun has been keeping an eye on the Tufan situation for two years right now, and I am positive that the Emperor has agents in the city for an occasion like this. If Shun's agents like Gao Ying know that Xu Jing is here, and in a position to acquire sensitive information as a competitor, they can rendezvous with us far more easily. We need to tip off that we're here for that to happen.

Don't worry about how the orthodox sects will react. They might be terrified about the prospect of fighting us, but there are no orthodox fighters of note here, so it is hardly important.
