Aye, that's the one. I'd appreciate it if you'd vote C on it.

Can you give me a summary so I can vote on the latest choice root? I've not been following for a while lately.

Quality DISCUSS! will start piling in once we're past the story arc selection, that's all just personal preference (for me, the choice between =][=, Ashguard and freelancing is a pretty clear one). That's neither here nor there, however, so I guess treave just got another day of free time.

Uh, I'll spam your CYOA with horrendously whimsical and completely arbitrary votes if you don't resolve this here tie?

So, I'm not supposed to make whimsical and arbitrary decisions on your CYOA? :negative: Oh well.

Anyway, finished that huge summary. Enjoy.

So, treave, we have a tiebreaker vote now. Shall we lock the votes?

The entire point of the constables is to determine justice based on evidence, not on what is convenient for the local power structure. When we have the garrison on our side to make the time to figure out the unknown culprit, we have no real reason to vote C unless you think that Fu Xia is the killer (doubtful) or else you want to gain a few bonus points with the city by generating a little expedience for those officials with the cost of somewhat suspicious figure Fu Xia.

I think that Xu Jing should err on the side of not declaring suspicious figures guilty in lieu of actually getting evidence to find out who did the crime, regardless of whatever officials think about it.

If it gets out that the constabulatory is declaring folks guilty without real evidence to make things easy for local officials, who will trust them?

That's pretty much the crux of it for me as well, and why I'm sticking with B. It's our job not only to find the killer, but also to find him in the correct manner and ascertain his guilt using the correct methods. At the end of the day, we have a suspect in Fu Xia at best, and if we're wrong, we're condemning an innocent man whose only crime was being a fool to death. B rocks the boat and pisses off the powers that be, who want a quick solution to this problem, but it's our job to do this right, not to do it fast.

    Here, obviously
I'll change my vote to B if the votes are still open. Let's get this over with.

I don't feel comfortable throwing this guy under the bus on a whim. Sure it could help, but I don't really want to possibly ruin this chap when there is a chance that it could either do nothing or even make the situation worse.

Wait, I thought it was well established at the beginning that B closes the case as man x, jing does not stay to continue investigation. Can treave / someone confirm? We shouldn't let a misunderstanding break the tie.

I am C only on the assumption that whatevrr we vote is our final move in the investigation.

I'm not sure what the current expectations for B are beyond attempting to pin the murder on Mr. X. I'll wait for a clearer description of what people expect to see before I can comment.

    There is no tie currently.

I view B as admitting that our investigation have failed to reveal the truth (it did), and trying to stick to the facts showing that it is improbable for chief Zheng to be the murderer. There likely will be a backlash and we'll have to leave the city. It does not reveal the culprit, but it attempts to save a life, though quite possibly at the expense of many other lives.

I view C as a half-assed last-ditch attempt to solve a case by making an accusation out of the blue surprise questioning that will result in one of the following: guessing the truth (unlikely, as we missed quite a lot of information pieces), in partial reveal of certain facts that will not be enough to save chief Zheng from execution, or in the conviction/death of two semi-innocents, Fu Xia and Jiang Zheng (and a major WTF from our party). It is likely that the situation will escalate from there, as the Bandit Kingdom is not really interested in finding the truth and is more concerned about making Tang look bad, though there probably won't be an explosion of hostilities on a scale of B.

Either way, the case will be closed and we will likely move on.

I thought we would go and do some fighting mediating with Pang to keep peace after B while xiaofang is unfit to travel/talk.

I was viewing this as a way to stall the proceedings without depending on the chief to endure the torment so that we could gather more evidence as well as giving time for Xiaofang to recover, not as a way to run off. I guess it could be viewed that way, but I'd rather solve this right since we did decide to stay here for it.

After you 'solve it right', who will you present the evidence to?

I am afraid that after B there will no longer be a trial.
