Gonna flop to BAA II/III.

As others have said, I don't think a quickly assembled scouting party is going to be a mortal danger to us. And I think Rin is going to be counterproductive for diplomacy, which should be our initial goal over slaughter. Why not at least try to add some human minions?

 

Re: goblin knowledge of human territory

Most of them know nothing. A few of them, like Boss, Petze and Robust, know of one human settlement, to the west of the ruins. It is a small farming village living off the land, and they have little to no contact with the goblins, preferring to stay out of each other’s way. The goblins would like to chase the humans off what they see as sacred territory, but they don’t have the numbers, and they know that any attack would bring retaliation from stronger human forces down upon them.

Runde tells you that from his time spent in human lands, he counted at least four different kingdoms bordering this region. The ruins are technically part of the territory of a kingdom called Methuss, and he has also heard of a kingdom called Galbaldy, another called Dijeh, and something called the Holy Barzam Ecclesiocracy. He has no idea what ‘ecclesiocracy’ means.

Re: goblin knowledge of non-human territory

The non-humans were gradually pushed further east after the Demon God’s defeat. For some time the humans ruled this area, but barely a hundred years after their victory they left for some reason that the goblins are not aware of. The goblins of Grahferde are currently not in contact with any of the other non-human races, they see them as quitters and losers.

 

Do they know whom the humans worship?

They know of the Five Gods of Light, and that they were opposed to the Demon God, but not the specifics of the religion.

 

B - We didn't go necromancer so let the dead rest.
A - Experiment and hopefully save a useful scout and our apprentice's waifu.
A II, III - We don't know if this is the only enemy force in the area. We should leave Rin behind in case there are. I'd hate to take all our big guns with us, and come back to a slaughtered village.

Playing an obsessive love-struck emo banging his fists at cruel fate stealing his beloved and resorting to some sort of Frankenstein experiment doesn't seem up our alley. I think we should nod our head in respect to someone who did a good deed for us and repay her with what she would have wanted and move on.

Well, to put it bluntly, our character realizes - even through his obsession - that revival is pretty much impossible, and the closest thing we can do is to raise her as an undead abomination. And yes, I don't like how it turns our character into a creepy emo who can't let go and keeps having secret nightly visits to the corpse that the whole village knows about but is too embarassed to mention aloud.

I also don't like it that the decay has already set it, I want my heads in the jar to be pretty.

That said, I find the idea of turning our only trusty companion and a friend into a talking skull against her wishes quite amusing, especially coming from the folk who didn't care much for the 'MWAHAHA, AM I EVUL! HERE, WATCH ME EAT A KITTEN TO PROVE JUST HOW EVUL I AM!" type (which some of us are trying to push), even though the 'MWAHAHA, ME MADZ!' type is pretty similar.


In other news, does anyone else find it hilarious that Robust, being considered the most useless of our prospective party members both for diplomatic and combat purposes, gets selected as an afterthought while we argue whether Rin or Runde would be better. That makes him get twice their votes, and become an essential member of the team as far as the results are concerned. Ah, the paradoxes of voting systems!

 

That's because Robust is Boshen's reincarnation. He is essential by default.

treave, are demons known on this world? If we take Rin along for the ride, will she be immediately recognized as a demon?

 

Couldn't she just hide her tiny wings in shadow or else wear her armor?

It's a fantasy setting. Do you really want to talk "impossible" after being turned into an angel? Like the update says - it's rumored to have been done before.

 

They were at war with a Demon Lord, and goblins still worship him.

But that was 10000 years ago, there is no way to tell if anyone but the gobbos remember or care. The gobbos say that they are the only ones who still keep the old traditions.

 

All the surviving non-human races fled east thousands of years ago. You don't know if there has been any regular contact between humans and demons since then, and whether that contact is friendly. The goblins are a little too isolated to know that.

If she is in her full armour and hides her tail she wouldn't be recognized as a demon immediately though.

 

The party at the ruins could be rather powerfull. Strong enough to deal with the giant fire minotaur at least, maybe even sent their to deal with the minotaur. This isn't a weak scouting party. Bringing enough firepower just in case and robust to carry the loot.

After reading your commentaries, I reconsidered and thus edited my voting post to change the option 3 to bring Rin and Runde, leaving Robust behind to take care of the defense, if only so that we do not return to a village in ruins.

 

Yeah, now that I think about it, Robust is kind of redundant if we already have Rin.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to leave Robust out of this, as everyone is voting for him, so taking Runde is likely to result in leaving Rin behind.

My take is that goblins alone are helpless against an organized human force of knights and spellcasters, and that the best response for them would be not to try and mount a defence, but to flee and scatter, waiting until the invaders go away or until their Lord returns. Robust won't make a differerence, like Rin would.

Of course, I do not believe for a second that there is another group in the vicinity, since we know that the raiders came here to investigate the ruins, not after the goblin slaves. And it looks like the intention of whoever sent this party here was to accumulate a mighty force that could potentially dispose of a serious threat - like a minotaur - that could have been dwelling in the ruins. It does not make sense for them to split up.

With a bit of clever taxidermy, she can be made to *look* pretty.

I rather think it'd be less about being evil and more about being a letch and a troll. It'd just be funny for the conversation we'd have when we told her that not only did we betray humanity for some poon, but we resurrected her severed head for...our own purposes.

 

You would have to conquer an additional kingdom or two to supply all the perfume required to mask the odour, though.

And yeah, reanimating your friend against her wishes is evil. Not that I mind, with this being Overlord LP and all, I just wanted to reserve this stuff for people we don't like. Kyle's skull would make a fantastc cup.

With Rin, we don't need anyone else for the actual encounter, but we need a guide to catch up with the invaders. Robust or Runde, it doesn't matter. I just prefer to take someone who can take care of themselves and who won't be missed too much in case things go sour.

I have an idea. How about we just drop Robust from our votes, leaving only Rin and letting the others decide. Personally I think that the vote boost Robust gets because no one cares about him in non-sensical.
