One of them is holding a wet celery, the other an egg whisk, but both are wearing flying helmets.

Also, to return to the more wholesome matters of bearded strangers and Baltika's speculation in perticular.

Have you considered that this might have been his way of saying "a little bird told me", i.e. a source that he would rather not identify? Instead of "literal" angels.

The two Alexeis then chain us up and we take off into space. As we break through the stratosphere, the narcotic haze begins to wear off and our conscience returns to our room.

This is the last time we smoke Father Rasputin's 'special' incense.

Possibly, there's no way of knowing for certain at the moment. Who could these sources be? Unless there is extreme factionalism in the Order of the Eagle, then I don't think that the Russian intelligence services would cooperate with him and not with Alexei. There's also the fact that Alexei calls him 'strannik,' which is Russian for 'wanderer.'

I think that this setting's Rasputin is a hermit and a genuine religious zealot, and these 'Angels' aren't mundane people. Either my joke about his special incense isn't a joke at all, or he's getting visions from the native elves/Sauron. My money's on the elves.

Edit: I guess he could have a network of informants in the rural countryside, where healers and mystics are welcome.

 

And yet, Rasputin was the one in the know about the place hosting a lever for the gate, and not Alexei.

He clearly knows more than the soldiers, which is why he is promised an introduction to the Tsar for his services. As for where he learned this from - who knows. Divinations? A secret Psyker cabal? He isn't the most mystical man of all Russia for nothing.

He says he receives his revelations from God, which is why I thought the mention of Angels may be just a way to legitimize the information.

 

Friendly reminder that Rasputin idea of religion is quite ‘peculiar’ and not by the book.

 

That's my point: if this information was common knowledge among the knightly orders, then he wouldn't be here. This suggests that the source of his knowledge isn't something as mundane as rumours and hearsay.

He could be doing some next level research and exploration, communicating with elves, or receiving actual visions from God.

 

Or the devil.

All that our character sheet reflects is that we lost 10 reputation points with Scotsfield:

I expect that Nathaniel and Scotty returned to the village before us, dumped the blame on the irrelevant outsider (us) and now we're grounded for a bit.

But we're hopefully friends with Sophie and Elizabeth now. And we got to see Elizabeth's ankle.

 

We were going to lose some rep whatever happened, that's not the worst thing ever.

 

Or we just got Sophie killed, lost or maimed and our foster dad is just kindhearted enough to pretend to believe our tale, even though inside he will always resent us for allowing his daughter to die.

 

That does seem like something Scotty would do alright. He tried to scapegoat us immediately when he got caught by the knights too. I'm guessing this whole trip became our plan all of a sudden.

Anyway, I feel like our lack of speech skills is starting to hurt us a bit. If this kind of shit keeps up we're really going to need to be able to tell our side of the story. At least we have the girls to tell it this time around.

I'm pretty fine with that, actually. Gives things some variety.

We're a DEX-centric character currently suffering from a bum leg, and we're also at the Level 0, "Energy Gun build in Shady Sands" stage of the adventure. No point whining yet.

 

Forget YOLO, weren't you all about RESPONSIBILITY FISH? If you can't live up to the former, at least live up to the latter and jump in the river!
