I don't see any type of manual in the demo download. I'm not real sure what I'm supposed to be doing in this game. Did I miss something obvious? It wouldn't be the first time.....

Hi crpgnut, during the game, press F1 to go to the Help Menu. There you'll find detailed information on control and gameplay, game rules, technical questions and so on - if these are the issues. If you're referring to the game's plot, there's a Walkthrough available, but unfortunately, not in the Demo Version.

In general, the only way to proceed is to talk to people - they'll tell you of new locations, quests etc. In your home village, talk to Ortwin (northwestern part of the village): He'll give you an overview of the situation and will tell you the location of the village of Cattanford. (Unlike Darghul, Teudogar doesn't have a continuous game world but rather consists of a number of single locations. You can travel to those locations that you know or that you've heard of by using the Travel command on the upper Menu Bar.)

Thanks! I just played around for a few minutes in the game and then went looking for a manual. I only walked around the first building and a few steps outside. Historical based games generally don't do much for me, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Is the next game historically based also?

No, DARGHUL is a traditional fantasy RPG, with orcs and wizards, dungeons, monsters, fireballs and lots of magical weapons.

(Since writing fantasy is a lot less work than writing history, there'll also be a much larger game world than in Teudogar, as well as a longer plot.)
