I've watched half the clip now, and the only thing he's been talking about is how he doesn't like the blue color and how you can't zoom so much (somehow, in his mind, a green color is more functional), does he actually have some interesting insight about this game? I'm interested, and wonder if I should buy it.

Can't help but wonder if the devs were going for a quick cash grab now that Genesis became such a success in Russia (and to those few enlightened)

Since I'm a massive story fag, I was intrigued by reading this key feature on steam.
    -An intriguing, non-linear story;

Is it true? Or just massive bullshit?

It seems Genesis was made by this one russian guy.
After it's success a company came and hired him (or they have a partnership), so he definitely worked on this version but also it seems he was not the one giving orders.

It is a quick cash grab, someone with money saw Genesis and how it sold and said, damn if I make this 3D I'm going to be rich!

EDIT: Now they can make a movie on how an indie russian guy made this gem of a game, how they pushed the 3D version, all the drama and failure, people are gonna cry and in the end they will forgive.

Exactly. In combat multiplayer, you build your army spending points you earn as you fight. The patch finetuned point cost of some units which were apparently over- or underpriced. This point cost has no direct connection to gold/gem/resource cost of units in strategic mode.

By the way, hotseat should be enabled in last patch, so multiplayer is no longer limited to tactical battles :)

It is non-linear, and it is intriguing (particularly since the journal entries all appearing once the tutorial is done with have been patched out :) ). YMMV, of course. If you need physical numbers, the campaign events text is about 0.5 mb large.

Sadly replaying the campaign is pointless since they got rid of a the highscore feature.
Yay lets shorten and condense the campaign so that multiple playthroughs are feasible but take out the one thing that allows you to compare the playthroughs

    fucking idiots

I am having fun with the game. Started on the lower difficulty settings just to get a feel for things, but the game is comically easy that way. The AI almost never attacks you, you get obscene amounts of gold and gems, tons of positive events, and you can basically auto-combat your way to ultimate victory. Going to be cranking things up.

I haven't really run into any major bugs in the latest version, but the arenas are pretty lame. Not only can you not skip them in any way, but they can actually break your came because the enemies can get locked into eternal combat (such as heroes healing faster than they can damage each other). Why is this even in the game?

Also speaking of auto-combat, I think it's just broken and clearly does not follow the nuances of real battle. It seems to just have a chance of any of your units dying more or less at random, a larger percentage chance depending on rated difficulty. Yet it also means that, say, slow-moving zombies can completely steamroll centaurs or archers just because they are "stronger" or you have more of them, but in a real fight they would get annihilated. I won't hide that I have abused this to my advantage on a few occasions.

When a hero dies, is there any advantage to returning him/her to the stronghold before resurrecting? It doesn't appear to reduce the costs at all so I'm not sure why the choice is there as it's basically just a time-waster.

So people replay Fallout in different ways to compare how many xp they earn every time?

    How mondblutian of you.

Besides, "the book of the masters" is still there. If it is broken, well, it is ought to be eventually fixed.

Am I other people? I seriously dont give a rats ass about the story. I just want to enjoy the mechanics over and over and compare my scores with past games.

so yes I agree with your sig

The book of masters is only there for the custom games iirc. Genesis had the same thing for the campaign. Ill check it out to make sure i ddint just miss it though (updating now)

edit: yep. No campaign highscore button anywhere.

Unfortunately, party score in this game is not what it should be. In games of such type score has to represent intensity of gaining power and value speed of development above all but in Eador score values the number of controlled provinces more than anything else. So very high score can be grinded on large shards without skill at all. The only real achievement is last turn number, nothing else.

So I got an interesting new bug this patch.

What basically happens is sometimes, after winning combat in auto-battle, you get an immediate popout saying "Foe is fleeing, do you want to pursue", and no matter what you pick, your victorious hero suddenly ends up dead.

And then, two times, my hero just died on his own at random, as well, during province exploration. Is Eador crew taking influences from CK2 now?

That happened to me once and I was pretty pissed off about it because my resources were stretched thin and I had been expanding into enemy territory. I had to wait for my resources to trickle in so I could resurrect my hero, all the while watching as an enemy hero reclaims all the provinces I took.

Did it hit you in autocombat, or in regular?

I think it was auto-combat, but I'm not 100% sure. Usually when I go on a rampage through enemy provinces like that I use auto-combat because I'm too lazy to keep fighting militia.

Isn't this an issue with pretty much every game with auto-combat? It's certainly a long-running Total War tradition, and those are the only games in which I tend to use auto-combat for the more tedious battles.

there are two situations when you have to return you hero to the caste
    1) you lost the battle
    2) you haven't got enough gold/crystal to resurrect. it can get quite pricey at higher hero levels.

edit: also you might want to use those resources for a building, guards or troops.

Is there a Russian Codexer who played the original game in its early states and can say whether or not the game was as buggy?

Ehh. I can buy every upgrade and outfit every province with buildings and guards, and still be rolling in cash. But as I said this is on lower difficulty (second or third on the list, one of the settings above beginner but below normal).

I figured that the option is there if you don't have enough resources to resurrect immediately, but it's weird it presents you both options. A bit confusing since at first I was expecting it would give me a discount if I resurrected in town.

What do you guys usually do for early game build order? I've been playing mostly wizard with undead armies, and once I get Necromancy and some nice summons (sadly sometimes takes quite a while) I can destroy almost anything with very low upkeep costs, so I almost entirely ignore military buildings except for archers.

From the sounds of it this isnt worth a purchase at present. It boggles my mind how something that's supposed to be an "upgrade" is just plain worse.
