Sure that sounds fine, perhaps with a clavisimbalum or a clavicytherium to keep the keyboard element of the character.
A bard with a keytar would be very lame
Abraxas those keyboards look great. I didn't even know harpsichords had ancestors like that... If you could draw a chopinesque bard with an instrument like that and the whole renaissance vibe, I'd be very grateful

Oh I didn't know either, I just googled "medieval keyboards" or something like that. To be honest, the first image that came to mind when thinking about a travelling bard with a keyboard was something similar to the link of felipepepe.
I'll send you a first sketch as soon as I can.
