I had to look it up, so I really don't know what kind of game this is. From the description I guess...Mount and Blade is vaguely similar. Similarish. Sorta.

  3. Yep, Mount and Blade is similar, and there's no god damn dragon that you will try to joust over and over again BUT HE KEEPS EATING YOU, HE JUST KEEPS EATING YOU, GOD FUCKING DAMN IT HOW DO I KILL THAT FUCKING DRAGON I HATE THIS GAME

Apart from that the two are pretty close. Particularly Warband since it adds wooing FAIR BUSTY MAIDENS which Conqueror also had.

Dunno anything about the game, and you didn't post a link, but Stronghold is awesome.

Great castle management game. Had a lot of fun with it back in the day.
The only downside is that missions unfortunately have no replayability.

Also one of the most beautiful (2D) games ever.

Now that we are at it is the XTREME!!! version of Crusader worthy of at least not removing from an inventory?

If I recall it got grief from reviewers for being next to impossible for a lot of the levels

It had more downsides than that, chiefly opponent and unit AI.

    Defender of the Crown.

Well, not exactly a strategy, but hey, it's not like a half of Conqueror wasn't a collection of medieval arcade minigames too.

Plus, as far as the era of computer games is concerned, Defender of the Crown *is* medieval. If not stone age :smug:

Ah yes Defender of the Crown. I should have mentioned I have already played that.

Also I don't really mind if the game has fantasy elements such as the modern age King Arthur The Roleplaying Wargame.

Bah, Conqueror 1086 AD completely slipped under my radar.

I still recommend Shogun Total War as the 1 game that comes close to and surpasses Defender of the Crown.

I would say yes, if you liked the original. It has a much larger focus on combat, however, so if the only thing that interested you in the first was castle building you might find it offputting.

Those Westerners do a better job of representing historical Japan than the Japanese themselves could ever do.

It's anything but weeaboo, too. Seriously. It's just an exotic locale; exotic like drinking "chai" tea or smoking from a hookah-- good for thrills, but not the point.

On a more serious note, if you want a combination of a fullblown strategy and dungeon crawling, get yourself the vastly underrated Birthright game. It was generally trashed, but I think it's excellent.

    No jousting popamole, though.

This is true, but I currently don't hold any interest in the Sengoku Jidai at all.

I like jousting popamole and busty bitches. But I'll look into it.

    Herp derp.
