Most patrician way to play Fallout 1 for the first time?

How to utilize this sorcery?

Run "integer scaler," run Fallout in a 640x480 window, and then press Alt+F11.

 

Like all boomer rpgs no real skill or finesse is needed

Just pump one stat till its maxed, then you win

It's quite simple

If you are outgunned use a doorway to kite in hapless fools with a shotgun

By the way the way to play Fallout 1 the patrician way is to finish it, praise it, and tell the dex that its posters are just a bunch of faggots.

 

I cant do that cause f76 is bad

But isometric rpgs are solely focused on stats

If you dont have the stats you cant win in combat

Compared to New Vegas even with shit stats you can still succeed

 

There is a playthrough of F2 somewhere when guy had 1 in each stat and managed to finish the game

Buy Sulik
Roam World Map earning easy levels from pack of dogs, cannibals, spore plants
Go to San Fran
win

 

Charisma 1 - no followers

Fallout is a bad example because there are so many factors

Standard isometric rpgs without cover bonus, height advantage etc, become an exercise in min maxing Age of Decadence being the worst case scenario, Underrail being harsh as well

It's just the nature of the system

Yes you can beat Fallout 2 with no stats and some unarmed, but is it really fun to gamble for a 1 in a million shot saving after every turn

You know, for fun in a lot of games I hex or hack with trainer and set all my stats to 1 or 0. Health though.... :/ 1 hit death kinda sucks. And uh, WTF is this "patrician" way of playing? I'm neither a nobleman nor aristocrat. I'd say I'm more like a hick in the woods than part of aristocracy. Noble way of playing I guess?

The answer to complete character skill reliance is not to completely dump character skill reliance.

 

Yeah good read on it, but honestly if you can loot some mentats then it's walk in a park. You will be married for the rest of your life with those pills but since you can't OD and they are a game mechanic why not use them? The challenge is to have a bad character at the start and beat the game by any means. If it can be considered valid since you need third-party programs to cripple your guy at the start. That is I believe with Restoration Project you can start with every SPECIAL at 1.

 

Well, +1 to Charisma allows you to finally recruit someone, but still, imagine going to fight with 5 AP.

 

If you're really flexible you could probably suck someone off while you play

 

If you dont increase your skill shots come out of your gun sideways

 

Grab +1 AGI perk, huff some Jet for 2 AP, you end with 8. Sure the addiction sucks but Jet can be bought everywhere + those penalties don't mean nothing if you have every SPECIAL at 1 by default.

 

Mentats, Jet, well, let's throw Buffout and Psycho in the mix while we at it, it wouldn't hurt. It's an interesting idea for larping too - to have a character so broken that poor bloke has to gulp down handfuls of drugs to normally function.

 

This guy was using no stat boosts, except wearing the advanced power armor to avoid having to fight everyone in the Enclave. He just used drugs out of combat on NPCs to kill or cripple them.

 

so it's a cold but bright saturday, and i'm quarantined at home. i should be doing something more productive with my time, but i feel as if i actually stumbled onto the most patrician way to play fallout 1...
