Seems like a Horror/Adventure/RPG hybrid with retro graphics (2D isometric) and Lovecraftian themes. Has anyone tried it?

Looks really good. But then again I'm a sucker for everything that has a lovecraftian theme present.

I'm the opposite; I absolutely hate anything with a lovecraftian theme. I don't care about some stupid octopus-faced godzilla, Victorian era magic and mysticism is boring as can be, and I hope that every game involving lovecraft fails horribly. I don't even need to hope, really, because it's pretty much a certainty; all those games are invariably shit.

Dark corners of the Earth was very good, altough it wasn't an RPG. Same with those old school adventure games, like the Prisoner of Ice.

Its shit, I forgot why exactly. I remember that the fights are awful and everything is very in your face instead of subtle which makes for a very bad atmosphere. But I only played it an hour or so, so you may have to disregard my opinion.

Sunless sea was pure, unadulterated shit. I've never seen an uglier, more cluttered interface, and the game was utterly soulless; playing with an abacus would be more fun.

Haven't played the other one, so possibly there is one decent game, but I doubt it. Do we need to make a list of Lovecraft games that suck?

Thanks. I almost pulled the trigger as the screenshots looked like a cool atmosphere.

Sunless Sea was supposed to have good writing but the writing put me to bed! Can a Codexian back up the claims, or were the SS dudes in good standing with journos?

No, you're 100% right, the game put me to sleep, too. I'm pretty sure the writing was generated by trained monkeys.
