A while ago I was crusing the web for squad-based multiplayer/online games and ran into one that caught my eye. The interface to join the games was all web-based if I remember correctly. There were three races I believe, one sort of like space marines another alien like and one had an ability called Warp I think.

There are different classes of units and I believe you can modify the layout of each unit RPG style before battle. The battles were turned based.

I unfortunately did not bookmark the site and cannot remember the name.

Anyone know what game I am thinking about?

Sounds like Laser Squad Nemesis. Fun game, though I got sick of it after a couple of hundred games.

YES! That is what is was...

So, care to elaborate on why you got sick of it? What are its strengths and weaknesses?

I don't think it was any particular fault of the game that I got sick of it; just that there's only so many times you can deploy a small squad on a map and fight it out with someone else, or there's only so many times I can do that at least. But two-hundred-odd games is pretty good value for money in my book. And some players played a lot more than I did.

Strengths: tactically deep with a nice selection of units for each faction that all have their uses; the simultaneous turn system works really well, as does the point buy system for units at deployment; a lot of maps to play on; can play as many games simultaneously as you want and you can take as much time over your turns as you need, taking into account the turn/time limits that have been set for the game; good community.

Weaknesses: limited tile-sets for the maps; other players can take as much time as they like over their turns, taking into account the turn/time limits that have been set for the game, so there will inevitably be times when a game stalls and/or times-out. Other than that I can't really remember it having any weaknesses that aren't inherent for the formula; e.g. balance can sometimes go a bit out of whack when something new is introduced, but the devs are (or were) constantly fine-tuning things; and it just gets a bit stale after a few months of playing.

Bear in mind that I haven't played in a few years so the game might have developed quite a lot since then.
