So, there is this new RTS-like game released - Naval War - Arctic Circle.

The screens and trailer look from pretty meh to plain shit (wtf is up with the explosions people, and the paint job on the Stealth?) But does anyone know anything about gameplay or has anyone tried this one ?

It looks a bit Harpoony to me, which would be a good thing.

I expect this game to be mediocre, but playable.

I followed this for about a year. The trailers showed no gameplay and use dreadful Heavy Metal music to drown out the (even more dreadful) sound effects.

A bit later I found out it requires Steam, so I deleted it already.

I have also removed Paradox from my list of "publishers who are bro".

Steam required for a demo? Somebody's fucking nuts.
Not interested in modern naval combat, so no fucks were given.

The game is shit, a complete snorefest. In addition the 3D view is useless as you can't do anything on it other than watch your ships and fighters go down.

Now if a modern warship was transported through time to WWI or WWII we could talk business. Other then that... meh.

What's this, reference to the Final Countdown with Kirk Douglas ?

Exactly, if I was interested in that kind of game I can always replay Sub Command which has better graphics and MUCH better sound.

Yes, but it might as well be a reference to John Birmingham's "Weapons of Choice" or Kaiji Kawaguchi's "Zipang".

Lol, the GamersGate version requires Steam as well and they don't even link to the demo. As much as I love Harpoon, that's a pass.

No only does it require Steam but it also got extra DRM on top, real deal-killer there.
