There is absolutely no reason to play it unless you're into those themes, since the actual gameplay, plot, design and balance are on the scale of nothing special to mediocre to shit. Yes, you can skip most of that fetish crap, but if you do you're pretty much skipping the actual content and playing the filler which ties it together.
Again, have you played it, or are you just shitposting? Judging on above, you haven't played it. The module is more of an RPG than original campaigns. In almost all dialogue choices you can roleplay the character as a prude and fend off all "advances", any "content" that you'd miss is probably some cringy fanfic - if that's your definiton of real content, suit yourself, but you're lying if you say it's the only thing it has. Some NWN's mechanics are hard to circumvent (either you're 100% hidden or you're not), but the actual sneaking can be rewarding; enemies have patrol routes, you can steal keys from their pockets, you can explore the hidden areas to find money or loot.
I've completed the 1st module and played a bit of the 2nd one. Was waiting for the good parts to start until I realized that the majority of reviewers liked it for the fetish episodes but were too ashamed to admit it. Yes, there are some nice bits here and there, and a bit more of the non-terrible bits, but they are simply not enough for a decent playthrough if you're skipping the sex parts which are like 75% of the non-filler content (and not like you can skip everything).

Probably because our resident white knights couldn't fathom that a woman might enjoy sex and/or rape.

Is this really the hill you want to die on here? Valine wasn't the only author of that module - sorry to spoil your fantasies here.. But ADWR, especially part 1 was a culmination of several writers over several iterations.. Yes they were male.

Also..

So there were only men writing this, or there were women -and- men? You continue to shitpost memes with self-righteous tone while you're at least a questionable source of information. Yeah, it's a "meme" that it's a rape mod, but those who actually seen it and are mature enough not to giggle and cover their eyes at the mere sight of a sexual implication can figure out that it's much less than
like 75% of the non-filler content
And, it's not my thing to fantasize about it, but there's plenty enough of women writing fanfics containing abuse and perversion, and enough scientific data regarding the subject available to make a conclusion.

I mean this conversation is just getting more and more autistic.. as you seem quite upset by the fact that your rapey rogue module is being questioned.

Valine as far as I know is a woman.. some teacher in the UK or something.. but I don't have proof that is true. They could be anything but I know for a fact there were several authors on Part 1 that aren't. (They are still skulking around across several places like the vault and LL today)

I assumed this was common knowledge? How long have you been in the NWN1 community? ADWR was developed over several years.. the version you play today was nothing like the original version.

You don't have proof that anything you say is true. You only have accusations.

https://www.loverslab.com/topic/13274-neverwinter-nights/

Does anyone know if Valine did any other mods or if she has a blog or something like that? I recently played ADwR and loved every second of it, it's a shame it's probably not going to be updated any further.

No, she is very secretive about her projects. Thirdpres from vault is the few people who can directly contact her long time ago, but he cannot seem to find her either. There is rumor that Valine had twins few years ago, that's why there is no more updates. Maybe she will surprise us in 10 or 20 years......

I wonder if someone will pick it up from where you left off......I know it's unlikely but I can still dream!

You might want to check out:

Celeritas Eos: http://www.moddb.com/mods/celeritas-eos
Or
Demonheart: http://demonheartnwn.blogspot.ca/

Both have lots potentials and Thirdpres (the guy who help with the development of ADwR) has influenced the development on both games as well.

Oh yea, Spoiler.. your rapey Demon module had a male ghost writer too..

Wonderful citations. Also it's wonderfully ironic that a guy who frequents losers lab is accusing me of "having fantasies".

Just google their name..
This isn't some big revelation.. the date of that thread goes back several years. Everyone knows this..

Also just to be clear - I don't really give a shit about Adult content in video games. I'm not against it at all..
I just think it's hilarious how butt hurt you are getting that your precious rape module wasn't written entirely by this beautiful and mysterious woman..

December 14, 2018 Livestream Recap

“I’ve been playing D&D since I was about 8 years old - it taught me to be creative, to be collaborative, and fostered a love for storytelling!” ~ Luke

During the last Beamdog stream of 2018 Beamdog CEO Trent Oster and Producer Luke Rideout shared the latest news on Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, NWN:EE on Google Play, and Infinity Engine games. They also announced a contest to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of Baldur’s Gate! Find out more here!

Missed the stream? It's on YouTube and Twitch! Here's a quick summary of the highlights:

Trent remembers Baldur’s Gate was shipping 20 years ago!
  • December 21, 2018 marks the 20-year anniversary of Baldur’s Gate! To celebrate we’re holding a contest: Share a favorite Baldur’s Gate memory! Learn how you can become an owner of a Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Collector’s Edition signed by the Beamdog team, or one of the other 56 awesome prizes here!

“D&D definitely influenced everything we’ve done!” ~ Trent
  • We rolled out a change to the Beamdog Client this week. In order to install Video and Voice for your language of choice for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, you now can download “Language Extras” for each language from the Beamdog Client dropdown menu. Language packs for French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Polish are available as free add-ons to keep the core game download size small.
  • The next Development Branch build for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is planned to be be released next week. The next stable patch for NWN:EE will come out early next year, with new main menu art, Steam achievements, bug fixes and features, including True Type Font support, keyholing, and fine UI scaling.
  • The 17 bone limit has been a long-standing limitation of Neverwinter Nights. We’re working on expanding the bone limit, and that will be included with the 64-bit update for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition.
  • We have a lot of things in the queue for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition. New emotes/combat animations is a feature we’d like to look at eventually.
  • We don’t have detailed official “recommended” specs for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, but the hardware requirements for NWN:EE are not very demanding. Minimum spec is currently an Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB of RAM with any DirectX 9, OpenGL 3.0 compatible video card. Any PC built to run Windows 10 that isn’t running an integrated GPU, and many that are, should be able to raise NWN:EE settings to the Max. It all may change a bit once the new renderer for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is done, though.
Thanks, everyone, for your tremendous support in 2018! On December 21, 2018, we’ll share a blog with a bunch of our favorite entries to the “Share a favorite Baldur’s Gate memory” contest! Good luck, everyone!

New Menu Art and Steam Achievements! Oh boy! New combat animations is a good idea, but frankly NWN was always light years ahead of NWN2 in that regard. Of course that will be gotten to "eventually" i.e probably never and at best several years from now.

This is a pretty big deal for better animation / meshing.

I have played it, though didn't bother finishing. The rogue content was on the level of that fifty shades novel. You can skip the cheesy porn, but you can't skip your rogue sneaking naked through a well lit hallway full of guards. I guess they all got blinded by her boobs or sth.

I respected what A Dance With Rogues tried to do, but I could never get past the tutorial section. Too long, I already know how to do thief stuff, thanks. Don't really feel like wandering aimlessly across half the world to learn that stuff.

Seems kinda harsh that they're promoting a sale for the complete NWNEE with all DLC and modules and everything for $35 on GoG when just a few weeks ago they were selling it for $12 on Steam. Makes me wonder if the Steam price was a mistake that they just never bothered to correct during the week+ of the sale.

That's just how it goes.. let's not climb too high in the fruit tree to rip on beamdog.. way lower fruit for critics to grab at.
Games go on varying degrees of sales all the time, sometimes lower sometimes higher.. The game was on no sale for weeks after Black Friday.. What about the poor sods who bought it after the sale ended for the full price?

That's how a Sale works, it applies to everything from NWN:EE's to fork sets from your local Walmart. At the end of the day, we are talking about a difference of like 3 dollars.. So let's not get too dramatic here.

It's a development cycle. Bugs are inevitable. Compatibility fluctuates, along with performance.

Take a look at the IE EEs. Lots of bugs 6 years later. Compatibility with mods breaking on and off. Framerate drops. The original IWD is more stable and maintains a more consistent framerate - for me. I don't lie about that or the CTDs in my review. Which brings us to this point:

Also depends on one's system (OS, CPU, GPU chipset). Everyone has different setups. Some people haven't had probs with Diamond, others have. Balkoth gets perfect framerate with Diamond in his Let's Plays, I don't. But now some people will have problems with Beamdog's version, others won't. EE has already broken some mods and modules. The EE has bugs. Shaders are slowing things down for quite a few people. I've experimented with every EE release, from inception to 1.78. It's six and one half dozen

Here is an example. v.2.5 of BG:EE (released 6 years after BG:EE), is causing lengthy area-transition loadtimes, and lengthy savetimes, for some players (3 mins). This requires a non-trivial workaround for those affected by the issues. Meanwhile, the original non-EE BG has loaded new areas and allowed us to save pretty much instantly for the last 10 years.

Also, how about the upcoming 2.6 patch? According to Beamdog it will fix no less than 65 spells that aren't playing by the rules. 65. 6 years later. For the original, the spl files were fixed 15 years ago and subsequently integrated into fixpacks, which have been standard modding for over a decade.

It isn't unreasonable to predict that NWN:EE will be affected with similar issues over the next several years of its "development." Which is why I've repeatedly said "six and one half dozen."

One of the things I like about the original NWN is its hardware requirements. Thanks to being old and ugly, it runs perfectly smooth on my old toaster laptop with integrated graphics and it even barely makes the CPU warm. However, the EE, with all the additional effects disabled, seems to be using all available resources, making my CPU melt. When they implement the new renderer, it will most likely become unplayable.

Also, Linux. It's great they are releasing a native executable and that's a big plus. But... the Diamond edition on WINE still runs better than the EE. It's even less problematic to run than on Windows 10, just click the exe and go, while on the more recent Windows versions the game sometimes refuses to start up properly (blank screen).

Yes, I know, progress and stuff, my PC is old, I should get a new one and forget about developers taking their precious time making any game run smooth on a 6 years old machine, but... I think a big part of what makes the old games so fun to play is because you can run them on an outdated machine and enjoy several hours of gameplay even when running a laptop on battery.

So... yeah, I just felt like writing something to put my mind at ease after some Real-Life(tm) shit ;)

More EE incompatibilities with custom content (in addition to ADwR):

• Caereena - Krakona Rising - crashes on startup
• Blackguard - crashes when loading saved game / unplayable after cutscene
• Tortured Hearts - CTDs in at least one area
• Enhanced GUI - windows are messed up: cannot chargen, cannot level up

These are just what's been reported on: not many players, most players that encounter bugs will just give up/not report. I'd put money on there being scores of mods that don't work properly on EE.
