I bet you're wondering, 'wtf?!', well just keep wondering. ATI has released a new set of Catalyst drivers for those with ATI cards that brings them up to a sparkling new version 5.6. You can grab them directly at the ATI website.

I would cite the following as the biggest update, at least for me:

WMV9 Acceleration

This release of Catalystâ„¢ introduces full hardware acceleration of Microsoft Windows Media Video (WMV) files when using DirectX 9 shaders. Hardware acceleration significantly reduces dropped frames and can reduce CPU usage up to 50%.

    Sweet.

Nvidia is fine. Ati is fine. Software rendering is fine. Who cares?

So is RPGCodex going to cover ATI-drivers on a regular basis now or something?

If I didnt knew codex, I might presume this would injure its PR image. But, knowing more or less whats behind the curtains, I bet no one at codex really cares about any image.

So, fuck them, yeah! Post some knews about Goatse! Its mroe rpgcodex than ATI drivers.

The only way we'll ever get our reputation back is if Exitium claims ATI sucks. Then we'll all be giddy and content that our world hasn't warped that much.

WMV acceleration affects DivX and every other format. It's just a stupid way of referring to Direct3D 9 videos.

OKay, okay, I'll stand in for Volourn this time:

    THIS IS NOT NEWS

Well, at least not codex-style news. Perhaps you could have tied it to RPGs and pointed out that the new drivers would fix a couple of textture problems in, say, Bloodlines.

    But, oh well, carry on.
Lets have a big Nvidia vs ATI flamewar so we can further emulate Slashdot/Guru3D/Warp2search.
Oops. Nope. I see you already have that covered.

Well, I actually came pretty close to posting this myself, but that's because I've been an ATI whore since the old Rage Fury MAXX days.
