So can we still play with 7 people? Or do we need to create a new league?

    Haha.

Oh well. We can always wait for the next patch. The next one should focus on the private leagues.

    1) Remove your team from the public league (select "quit league" option)
    2) apply to the codex league with the password that's in the first post of this thread
    3) seriously injure Old School Kamikaze's entire line of scrimmage during your first drive
    4) profit

I am over waiting myself so it is going to be kicked off in about 4hrs time as of this post which is ~9pm (+10GMT). So Erk has until then to send an application in.

I'll update the thread as soon as I have done it.

I got some awesome news, leagues can have 6 or 8 teams. Which means I can't start the league until we either get one more team or we boot some one.

    AWESOME.

    Ima go make dinner. *sigh*

I've got an idea of putting in a dummy team, at worst that's what we'll do.

But wouldn't that require you to go online each time someone wanted to play that team? Or can you insert an AI-controlled team?

The admin can set the score for a particular match so what I'll prolly do is set the score to 0-0 whenever someone plays the dummy team.

The league has started! Feel free to post your war stories in this thread and post the scores and replays as I get the impression people like reading about OSK failing.

    Matchups are as follows:

    MessiahMan ...Vs ... Pobbles
    OSK ............ Vs ... Erk
    Grunker ....... Vs ... ManT
FSM ............ Vs ... Perfect Fool

Pobbles is a friend of mine who was kind enough to join up so we didn't have to boot anyone but odds are he will play no games and in that case it'll be treated as a bye and I'll set the score to 0-0. So messiahMan I will chat with pob tomorrow and see if he wants me to pop his details up here. The rest of you, let the carnage begin!!

MOAR BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! RAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

So, who do I have to give a Cleveland steamer to to get an invite into that there steam group?

Just played my first match up in the new league against the remarkably lacking in agility but surprisingly tough Wood Elves of FSM... it was a close game, decided by a TD on the final turn.

edit: After Mantiis' request and due to my prolonged bout of insomnia, I thought I'd do an extended write up of the game (well, as much of the game as my sleep deprived brain can recall, anyway.)

    Spoilers Alert...

FSM's Elves won the coin toss and elected to receive, I lined uo with my Ogre and a couple of linemen on the line of scrimmage, my blitzres in a row across the field a few squares back and my thrower behind them.

FSM deployed his treemen opposite my Ogre, two line-elves in front of each of my linemen and a catcher and line-elf in each wide zone. His thrower was deep to pick up the ball. Then came the kick off, which turned up as perfect defence, so I moved my blitzers forwards to stick elves in their TZs and stop as many assists on my linemen (shouldn't have bothered, really but I got a bit carried away).

First turn, the Treeman bashes my Ogre over the head and knocks him down, while the elves gently push my team around a bit. The thrower gathers the ball and moves forward and one of the catchers tries to dodge past a blitzer and trips over his own feet. In my turn, I block open a gap in the elf line and run a lineman and blitzer through to sack the thrower. He ends up on his arse, but I had to burn a reroll for a "Go for it!" on my blitzer to hit him. A few elves get tripped up by sneaky humans, but no one's actually hurt.

Turn 2, FSM dodges his thrower into the space with the ball, runs him a few squares then throws a long pass to his standing catcher who pegs it off down field. After a couple of "Go for its!" he's only 3 squares away from the endzone. A few minor scuffles break out along the line of scrimmage, but nothing importent. During my turn, I sprint a blitzer back to tackle the catcher, but he needs a reroll to go for it, too, then rolls double skulls on his blitz roll and keels over at the elf's feet like a typically effeminate English soccer player. The elves then score during their turn to much rejoycing.

During the next few turns, I slowly block my way up field. My ball carrier gets knocked over and I have to scrabble about in the dirt to try to get the bloody thing back again. In the process I manage to injure a line-elf, and FSM's thrower trips over his own feet trying to get past a blitzer and injures himself, too. One of my linemen managed to injure himself on a 2 dice block against a line-elf, too. I love rolling double skulls.

Anyway, I eventually manage to drag the ball over the endzone (a really scrappy, amatureish looking score) then kick the ball back to FSM after the lineout so he can beautifully pass it over and round my team to swiftly take a 2-1 lead just before halftime.

The second half starts off with me attempting another long drive up field. No casualties to report, but I did KO an elf along the way and I eventually ran the score in with a catcher (I think?). FSM's passing game was slightly limited by the loss of his thrower, but he made a strong drive down field with his linemen on my left flank. I managed to sack them with a blitzer and had a catcher free in his half.

My thrower got the ball, while FSM tried to blitz the catcher so I didn't have a chance to take the lead (this was on his turn 7, second half) he pushed the catcher back, then tried to move in front of him with a line-elf, but tripped when moving through my catcher's TZ, leaving him unguarded as my last turn arrived. I ran my thrower up for a quick pass to the catcher, then ran him in for a TD on my last turn.

It was an exremely tight game, if FSM had rolled better dodges it could well have one the other way... good fun, though!

Yeah, it was a great game. I love how the write up talks about how nice my play was and how lucky you got. Very politic. In all honesty, it was a great game on both sides. I made a few too risky moves too early in a turn that bit me, and a few of the luck rolls didn't go my way, but make no bones about it, it was a very evenly matched game. I hope I get a chance at a rematch, but I had a lot of fun.

The Celestial Bodies (Lizzies) went all sudden impact on the Cheesegraters (Skaven) and downed them 3-2.

    More spoilers below:

Actually it was a pretty close game akin to the other match already played in that it was decided on the last turn with a bit of luck going my way. From memory Grunker chose to kick off and I had little trouble getting the ball and pushing up field, in fact I found it so easy that I thought before I ran it in I would squish some Skaven and proceeded to do so, I mean I hadn't even used any rerolls! What were the odds of me skulling it? Well I must say that I was correct I didn't roll double skulls x2.... I rolled skull, skull and skull both down. Awesome. He couldn't manage to knock the ball loose but he did surround my poor defenceless little skink so a Saurus decided to rectify that and failed.... 1,1 and 1,2 again. Joy! After much dicking around I did get a bit of luck and score on my last turn in the first half.

The second half we had four touchdowns - how you ask? Well I think we gained at least 3 turns due to kick off events so instead of 8 turns it was 11 or 12. In any case Grunker punched some nice holes in my defence and dodge those damn gutter runners through to score what I would say were easy touchdowns but I am sure he would disagree with me.

There was one other funny thing on, one of Grunker's kick offs he was allowed to reorganise his players, as a result he got most of his rats off of the line and went heavy to one side but I don't think he realised that it was a touch back so I ended up giving the ball to a Saurus on the line and he pretty much blitzed his way to the end zone. Well, practically to the end zone. I vaugely recall him being brought down just before the line. A small detail of course.

One more match to go! As I am pretty sure pobbles isn't playing so MessiahMan gets a bye.
