Damn...55? No matter what you think of Nintendo now, Satoru Iwata was responsible for many well done and creative projects.

Also Iwata Asks was a brilliant series. I doubt any other CEOs, or even journalists, could do this kind of interviews with this rich insights and passion.

Damn, I remember when Mother 3 was in development and he liked working with Itoi so much that he went right back to programming just for it. Sad.

Whenever Itoi dies, I think I'll be sick.

I didn't know much about him before but from what I've seen recently he seemed like a really cool, talented guy.

RIP Satoru Iwata

i grew up with the sinclair zx81 and atari 2600 and commodore so subsequently missed nintendo by a generation

but still

seems like this guy inspired and affected quite a few people so in that sense this is an affecting death

commiserations and respects

Yeah, the crash. Home console business was totally ruined, we don't know what would happen if no other consoles came to the rescue, some people believe videogames would never stop being made anyway, others actually believe nowadays we'd see games as a cheesy thing of the past just like billions of other things. The fact is, the NES happened and it pulled the industry back to being viable again.

aka "let's post muhamerican legend so murican Nintendocucks can fap to it"

That crash only happened in US. Both Europe and especially Japan which was at that time powerhouse were doing fine. Europe had PC master race japan had healthy console and PC market.

People also were still working on games in US. They just earned less or were on different platforms (like PC)
