Just man the fuck up, download the patch, clear the game, start lifting, get a girlfriend, be a winner.

Also who the fuck ragequits on Onryoki? At least wait until bat girl so you can ragequit with some shred of dignity, however small.

Real men ragequit on Date Masamune (Way of the Nioh).

Think I've only made it to Way of the Demon.
Was rather enjoying that difficulty, red enemies were pretty awesome, but finally the repetition and lenghty backlog of other games got to me.

Well Masamune was not the worst of the bunch, even on NG +4.

I rage quitted more than once instead on Jin Hayabused and the Mysterious "turd pushing" Samuraï before killing them hopefully, because here the difficulty is really pants on head retarded.

Dammit! What's that meme about Deus Ex and people re-installing it every time it's mentioned? This thread has had the same effect:

Really don't remember it causing as many tears as Falksi seems to be shedding, but I never quite finished one run through, got distracted after 50 hours. Great game I've been mulling over returning to and thread pushed me over the edge.

Forgot how deep the combat system was. 2 melee slots, 2 ranged weapon slots, 3 stances, magic skills, weapon skills, spirit energy skills, item weapons all on top of RNG gear and leveling up stats... There are a million ways to circumnavigate roadblocks, it’s overwhelming. I am literally drunk on UNPRECEDENTEDNESS!!

Plus the choices of the bonus set, and the combinations with Graces are many. Yes, the system is excellent. I'm reinstalling the game too to replay it later this year, this time to (try to) complete it at 100%.

Man, I forgot what an excellent game this is. Almost the perfect third-person hack and slasher.

I also forgot how many times I died by dodging behind the enemy and pressing RB instead of X like a retard. :argh:

Yeah and when we’re done with this game it’ll be just about time to make the opposite mistake in Sekiro.

The most dangerous enemy in the game is a giant boulder in "Samurai from Sawayama" mission.

And yet you can finish it by clicking just the attack button and ignoring all rest.

This game is shit. Stop lying to yiurself.

Should I play Dragon’s Dogma instead? It’s on sale for $17, right now!!

I just can't make up my mind what weapon(s) to go for as main. Last time around I went for Spear so I'm staying well away from that this time, but almost all of them are appealing. Started out determined to go for dual swords, but none of them dropped at first so switched to 1H swords, then decided to specialise in Ninjutsu and Kusarigama. Was loving that, but then that Lightning Odachi dropped off a phantom and realised how awesome that was- until I got to Nue. Then switched back to my 1H with water damage on which reminded me how good that was before, but I've just got a pair of purple dual swords from the Clan shop!

About the only thing I haven't tried is Tonfa, will probably discover that they're awesome as well. This is what I love about this game. Whichever weapon you pick, the combat is always fun and all weapons are viable even if they're not optimal. I also appear to have improved my skill from first playthrough as Nue only took 3 tries and I had a lot of trouble with him last time.

I picked this back up a few days ago, and am at what appears to be a boss rush castle. At this point in the game, pretty much everything one shots me, and bosses often overkill me by a factor of 2 or 3. Like the last 20 boss fights I've pretty much all won by applying 2 elemental effects and the boss pops like a zit after that. Or for the human types I just apply fire and then turtle until they burn to death. Does this change at some point? Everyone keeps raving about the NG+ stuff but if it's just a continuation of everything being a OHKO with infinite stamina and basically never flinching I can't say it seems interesting. Do I need to spend some time crafting some super weapon to deal real damage? Am I supposed to have customized a full set of armour with a ton of damage reduction or something? I don't get it. I don't even use all the extra combo moves because enemies are either too dangerous to risk ever getting hit by using more than a quick jab and retreat, or they're so trivial that a basic combo kills them anyways.

everything being a OHKO with infinite stamina
:nocountryforshitposters:

Monsters have a white stamina bar that is 100% visible. Big things aren't going to stagger until you get rid of this. Once you reduce it to nothing everything you throw at them will guaranteed make them flinch. If you can't string enough hits, or dodge enough attacks that they end up becoming depleted of it, throw Bags of Salt at them. Even works on bosses, who give you roughly 5 - 10 seconds of unopposed damage, before they restore it. Other than that, big things are supposed to hurt, but a OHKO? Sounds like your armor isnt up to snuff. Also, armor and accessories have things like "<X%> damage from behind, or <attack up when surrounded>, <attack up when collecting amrita>, these things generally stack with one another, get some of them and your damage will vastly increase. Also, hitting things from the back or their weak point usually increases your damage by quite a bit. And unlike Dork Souls heavy armor is not only viable, but EXCELLENT. When combined with the damage reduction Mystic Art from Dual Swords (god, i hope that makes it into Nioh 2....) you can become virtually invincible to all attacks.

Do I need to spend some time crafting some super weapon to deal real damage?
Just from playing the game you should have something along the lines of a level 140 - 150 Purple weapon of your choice, possibly even with a Change Attack to <Stat>, because quite a few of them are guaranteed to have it. With proper stats and up-to-date gear this should be more than sufficient. No crafting at the smith is necessary until NG+.

I don't even use all the extra combo moves
You're either playing way too scared, aren't reading their tells very well, or haven't actually worked out the process of properly staggering enemies yet. High Stance attacks tend to drain a lot more stamina (especially when they block!) with a single hit. Most enemies also have some sort of weaknesses that allows you to break them instantly once per fight. All Oni types have some sort of horn for you to break that ends up becoming loot after you kill them. Elemental Discord is also quite nice and makes for an instawin for William. If your damage stinks, or you have lots of Ninjutsu / Onmyo magic, keep a separate element on your weapon, and a separate element in your quick slots for best application. When I wanted to inflict discord I would run with 2 of the same 2kats instead of my usual 2kat + axe or spear.

Discord is the only way I beat bosses. Human enemies regen stamina far far too fast to deplete and demons generally die before they run out unless I get the discord off. I definitely don't have a LVL 140 weapon I think they currently drop like 133 or something. Salt might help for the bosses I forgot it existed.

Something like the big skeletons with axes or the tengu are what I mean by infinite stamina. They never run out before dying unless I cheese them with the high heavy kusarigama attack. I tried upgrading my armor to current drops instead of my old set I fiddled with at the Smith ages ago and it cut damage by like a third which seems like a bad trade for losing all the special effects. I have 2000 hp and the vampire bitch hits me for 2800 with her tackle. An actual combo or grab would be way more. Killing a stupid fire wheel takes about 6 hits from a high stance axe and it hits back for about 1k per tick if it casually rolls at me.

Tengus are motherfuckers all around, and pretty much everyone hates them. Biggest mistake everyone makes is trying to dodge AWAY from their horizontal cane swing instead of toward them, essentially 'under' the attack. The other problem people make is not backing away fast enough when you actually get behind them, and eat a spin kick to the jaw. Skeleton Warriors though...dodging behind their big overhead slam followed by a single high stance strong attack should pretty much deplete their whole bar for you to go to town while they're a heap of bones on the ground.

I would need to see you play to know what you're doing wrong, but this sounds way off. You're definitely not spacing yourself properly if you're getting hit by Fire Monks' basic movement. You should be close-mid range to bait the Fire Breath so you can dodge behind them, and p much insta knock them down on the ground from the back. And yeah, before you get a proper gear setup it may take 2 rounds of breaking them before they die. You're also given a rather lengthy tell as to when it's going to burst into flames and pop back up, in terms of both sound and animation.
