Indeed, you ll only hear defense and "respect" for other devs, games and companies when you press any dev for opinion. Game industry is as circlejerky as they get, more so than any other branch of entertainment or tech industry.

People shouldn't have expected anything else, especially coming from an indie dev.

It wasn't. Tried the tutorial I think, I can't tell. It's the exact same game but with a cockpit, barely improved avatars and voice acting. Same shit german interface and controls and plot, and a car in space stuck in first gear.

 

Haha. Everyone shits on Pete. Some even for no reason other than to say they've unlocked that achievement.

 

X3:TC is one of the best space sims out there. Not because of amazing combat or syperb flying mechanics but because it is marriage between economy game and space sim.

Get Xtended mod and you work from 0 into super fleeet of ships which each of them took decent amount of hours to buy and outfit properly. At same time you create factories, trading fleet and so on.

I think best way to describe it would be Eve light + actuall space flying yourself.


X rebirth after 4.0 patch is mediacore but still better than NMS. Though it runs like shit regardless of whatever you have (DX9 game in 2014...)

Nothing feels better than deploying small carrier with 3 medium fighters somewhere knowing you actually earned, outfitted, bought and you fly it yourself.

 

Peter Molyneux reached his state after 20 years, Sean Murray did this with his second game and at age 34

 

Not only that, molyneux made really great games before , there was a real basis to the hype if you remember titles like populous powermonger, syndicate, theme park...Sean murray is a much more talented con artist.

 

and NMS is worse than Stillbirth by about 3,47 orders of magnitude (probably more, considering that's a ratio compared to unpatched stillbirth vanilla)

 

If you think X: Rebirth is the exact same game as X3, then I've spotted your problem.

 

It's a slow, boring game with a bad interface made by germans that takes place in what's supposed to be space. Same thing.

I don't want to build a giant fleet and futons and space stations. Actually futons in my ship would be nice. I want a little ship to pew pew with, trade things, exploar.

 

Then X3 is not what you're looking for. But Rebirth is still nowhere close to what X3 is. No idea how you can come to that conclusion unless you genuinely didn't play Rebirth (which I won't blame you for). X3 is an economic management sim built on top of a space sim. X Rebirth is... fuck knows what it actually is.

That's a big negatory. Even the NMS Youtube videos are more fun to play than Stillbirth. I am not exagerrating. It is just plain horrible as a game, never mind an X game. NMS is justt disappointing and didn't live up to the insane hype.
