I don't mind the common inventory (much) but the instant porting of stuff to stash is pure bullshit. They might as well steal from Fargo and sell the items as well.

But what am I supposed to do with my mage when I run out of spells? Use a crossbow? :D

  4. Wait for regeneration of course or else cooldowns. Kite the enemy or something.

Josh has answered my question on Formspring rather tersely. Now I'll ask him about kiting and if he intends to do anything to prevent it. Happy, Shrek?

The only things I ever wanted from IE inventory management is a window with every character's inventory and some way to AoE loot, preferably both at the same time.

My biggest worry here is that this porting of items to the bank means really, really excessive looting. Much rather a (mostly) bartering system where you loot actual valuables, as opposed to amassing arms for a entire army and selling all of it to the local, supposedly poor, blacksmith.

Another thing is that I really like weight allowances, does anyone know if they'll remove those too?

Just to play Devil's Advocate, what really is the difference in say when playing Baldur's Gate and your mage is pew pewing darts (a steady stream of low level damage) but now (at later levels) instead of pwe pewing darts they can pew pew a spell (a steady stream of low level damage)?

How does it diminish it? You higher level spells you are only going to be able to do once per resting period. It's THAT much of a big deal that you can (at a later level) pew pew with a low damage spell instead of doing the same thing with darts? Really?

It seems space allowances, except for stash.

That's what he seems to think, and it would make some sense in a straight vancian system. There, the whole of the mechanics portray magic as a much more precious resource than, say, in regenerating mana systems. But since (I think) PE already has more common magic, I see this as a non-issue myself.
Hmm, too bad. I like how weight allowances tie in with character attributes.

If I understand it correctly you are not pew pewing with low level spells when you reach high levels, you are pew pewing with your wand/staff/orb at all levels. Hello, DA.

He is referring to "kiting" an enemy with several archers, one of them baiting the enemy while the others fire at it. You can do the same thing with spellcasters.

    Don't be silly.

In DA you're spamming your most powerful spells from the beginning. Bar few exceptions, you'll use the same fireballs to kill bandits at level 5 that you'll use for bandits at level 20.

To be equal to DA, Eternity must have a similarly limited encounter design and bestiaries, as well as level scalling.
Though I'm more afraid of AI stupidity letting you kite in circles, negating Sawyer's 'aiming cooldown'.

  18. Uh oh. AI doing kiting?

He has a lot of things to learn.

    Wait what???

    You mean the following:

    I have two party members:

1 kites the other shoots. Why would that affect my shooter?

 No, not the AI. You. You have a line of archers. The enemy attacks one of them, who runs around while the others pincushion the enemy. If the enemy switches targets to another archer, that archer starts running and the first archer starts firing.

  20. Are you serious?

Why would that happen? Suppose it happened how is this still not going to fail on the part of AI? You can now simply kite with TWO people.

It probably won't as long as your shooter isn't attacked, and often that's exactly what the AI's target is suppoed to be.

Oh no. Nonononono. Fuck you and your blind faith Roguey. TOP of pack? As in the pack is a modern, "streamlined" scrolling afair that is fucking annoying to sort and make sense of?

Yeah, sure, old inventories were a hassle. So let's use this modern concept which is much, much more of a hassle. Jesus Sawyer. I'm getting increasingly sad that you are a Top Gun of this project.

No. In the IE games, even quick/hasted enemies could often be kited indefinitely because the AI would switch targets to the last shooter who hit him from across the room, while his last target was next to him.
