But MCA likes/loves even more questionable games. And even praises their narrative and wants to do them in the future.

So, how are you positive with that?

Josh Sawyer and Tim Cain working together on an RPG system will either be the perfect combination of cool ideas and balance or oil and water.

    I like to remain optimistic.

I don't get why people say that Sawyer criticize every RPG devellopers and say he'll make a perfect game. All i see is him saying that 'this' and 'that' could have been better done, and explaining his plans to implement a better solution.

It's not saying "everyone but me sucks", it's saying "i stand on the shoulders of giants and i am going to try and make them proud".

What the hell does this even mean? I said that the thread getting derailed into either "Sawyer suxxxx" (see weasel's post above) or "Sawyer is almost goddddd" (see roguey) is becoming dumb and people should probably stop replying to them. How is that dire butthurt? And where am i saying the game will suck?

Does anyone have the full quote and context of "Pretty much all games get it wrong"? Google doesn't turn up anything. Roguey?

? Has done. He was/is a designer too, you know? He worked on game mechanics.

Also, the narrative and narrative mechanics of Bioshock: Infinite, Walking Dead and so on are awesome for you?

So, why do you care what Sawyer likes?

    Isn't that hypocrisy?

Yeah, I read it. Which game mechanics?

IWD2? Well the implentation wasn't the best, but its been a while.

NWN2? Didn't really design anything as much as clean shit up.

F:NV? Improved on a shitty system making it somehow playable. Provided a really great mod afterwards thats praised by Codexers even.

Such as NWN2, that we can't use as parameter since he came in only at the end, or New Vegas, that we also can't use because it uses Bethesda's engine and was a rushed job and all that... and that's the problem, every thing you point at him is dodged, yet he feels okay to bash everyone else. Say to him that New Vegas combat was shit, he'll tell you it's a heritage from F3 and he did the best he could... yet he never wonders why something he might consider "broken" was implemented, he just say it's wrong and that he does better.

I find that amusing, because is the quitessential amateur's view. Is extremely common to see young people that just graduated go into the workforce full of ideas and thinking everything is shit and everyone is dumb, but when they get into the actual working they realise some things have a reason to be, that theory is very different from practice. Josh oddly looks like he never matured, even after facing very tough things like taking NWN2 lead or having to "fix" Fallout 3...

So when it's good it will be because of MCA and Ziets and when it's shit it will be because of Sawyer?

There is, but that doesn't mean it's the best way to do it. Fuck moderation.
The BG2 extreme is the way to do it right.

I had the impression that all major design decisions like basic systems are gonna on Sawyer, "the buck stops here" style. This is gonna be the game that isn't an iteration of somehting else, isn't controlled by capricious publisher demands, and ultimately shows what he's really made of and whether his 4th Edition D&D gamey balance-y abstract-y weltanschauung is really capable of being a thoroughgoing design strategy and whether the end result looks much different than everything that came before - and if it ends up being more interesting. I mean... what other narratives about P:E matter that much artistically?

Why should I be bothered by your butthurtness? I now read the thread to follow the butthurt and don't particularly care which source my entertainment comes from. My last comment was just a small effort at pointing out that the last pages of the thread are full of pots calling kettles black and vice versa.

Feel free to carry on though. I can always use more entertainment.

    "Narratives"?

I think most people care more about seeing what Obsidian as a whole can come up with, not just Sawyer.
