It's Rogue(y), not Rouge(y). As in: the rogue that stole Josh Sawyer's cisgender heart.

Is this the Carrie Patel in question? http://angryrobotbooks.com/ There's a picture and a description of her new novel there.

InXile did it first, with Torment.

    That book is awful.

I want Obsidian to make a Lovecraft-themed RPG, btw. Something in the vein of Arkham Horror board game brought to life as a CRPG.

It is. I read it when I was a teenager. The setting is alright though, I'd love to read a better book in a similar Oriental setting, without the Christianity crap.

Sensuki Maybe Obsidian can contact Bioware/EA and make Jade Empire II.

Actually, I would love to play an oriental-themed Obsidian RPG. Urban fantasy would be cool too. Or a sci-fi/fantasy hybrid.

There are many good underused themes to make a game out there. We can only hope Obsidian is more brave in their second Kickstarter (if it happens at all). PE's generic fantasy was a good opener, but it would be a shame if they followed that same safe route in the future.

R.A. Salvatore wrote lore and back story (but not the actual plot, I think) for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

It's always dumb when a sentient race is depicted as mindlessly evil for no reason. Props on that last quote.

Before everyone gets out their pitchforks and starts shouting 'burn the unbeliever' at me, I should preface this by saying that I'm not a fan of True Blood.

....but I really liked the 'southern voodoo' feel that it had for the 1st two season, before they ditched that for 'how many sexy supernaturals can Sookie sleep with?' (not that I have a problem with that - unlike gaming, tv gives you plenty of options and genres, and given how many shows/films are soft porn for guys (straight and gay), it's not unreasonable that there's a large audience for one of the few shows that's essentially soft porn for women).

Ditch the vampires, as the 'vampires as unrepressed sexuality' character has been done to death, and it's so overwhelmingly what people associate with vampire mythology right now that if you're going to adopt a different aspect of vampire mythology it's easier to just give them a different name to avoid confusion.

But I liked the idea of a new orleans type of setting with serial killers, witchcraft, swamps, voodoo, characters like the maianad from season 2, communities that can be easily cut off from the outside world when the shit is hitting the fan....it's not a setting that's done very often, and it had the potential to be more interesting than the political/regal manipulations, workplace procedural or high-school coming of age settings that typically form the backdrop for these shows.

It's also a very different colour palette than most games today, and allows for a 'dark, mature' feel without being 'dark'n'gritty' or encouraging brown-on-brown colour schemes. Modern gothic 'dark', not 'I'm so edgy' dark. And it would give developers a lot of scope for what they could put in it without breaking the setting (these days, one has to consider developers with Todd's 'rule of cool' mentality).

Be careful what you wish for. Or you will not notice how Project Eternity will suddenly have a spider race romances.

Josh seems to be suffering from memory damage.
Matt MacLean and Ziets wrote Safiya, Ziets and someone else (probably Fenstermaker) wrote Okku, Tony Evans wrote One of Many, and Avellone wrote Gann and Kaelyn. Chapman was an assistant producer at the time. How does one confuse him with MacLean?

Adding Grobnar to the list of things to troll Torment:ToN about. Sand's no prize either, but Fenstermaker's already proven he can do better.

Is that from Something Awful? Why don't you reply to him there?

Sand was one of the better companions (read: least worst) from the OC, if I recall correctly. Grobnar on the other hand...

What was the deal with NWN2 anyway? Was Obsidian under contractual obligation to write the most generic D&D story imaginable?
