I don't want to be encouraging. I want to frighten you off. If you haven't run scared by the time I recount all of the soul-crushing grind tactics involved, then MAYBE you have the right stuff, what it takes to succeed.

I will tell you right now that succeeding at this game is an exercise in brutality and force. You throw multiple, in my case over a dozen, accounts at the problem and commit a half a dozen computers to an all-out attack. If you're not prepared to methodically extinguish every vestige of fun from the game, you're not prepared to win.

Technically you can skip the account thing, but having more than one alt is very helpful.

If you want to you can ignore the whole success thing. It's recommended but not mandatory, unless you're trying to please Norfleet (which is impossible anyway).

Also, about 99% of STO is endgame stuff so you should try to reach lvl 50 since that's more or less when the game actually begins.

Nah, you definitely want a second account, minimum, once you start heading for the 10-character wall. Plus, doffing gets extremely cumbersome if you have to do anything as barbaric as MOVE to each place you're doffing. If it takes you 5 minutes to move anywhere, and you have a standard complement of 11 dudes (3+4+4), you're wasting nearly an hour just uselessly moving around, and you haven't even gotten any work done.

Besides, who's the authority on production here? Me, the guy who built an entire base, or you, the slacker who can't be bothered to show up so we can beat NWS?

Liking this new expansion I must say. The reputation system is a mixed bag, MUCH easier to advance now but I'm kind of pissed off having wasted my time before and having had to choose abilities while newfags get access to all of them. Don't really care for the tons and tons of requisitions you get each day now, it's mostly the same stuff and mostly useless. The free infinite trait respecs are also good/terrible since now everyone will take accurate, it's pretty much guaranteed.

But, I'm loving the new Dyson Sphere's new Undine Battle Zone. It's raining marks, y'all. Finally the sphere is good for more than just showing off how useless a game feature can be.

Also good on making ESD more compact, now if only they could do similar for First City. And now new currencies? It's a miracle. Unless you count Undine Marks...

I've stuck to the instanced missions myself, I found the Bzone too slow and without enough reward for plain old repping.

What missions are those? Because in the zone you now get 10 marks for each point captured, plus a daily bonus of around 50.

Plus more if you blow up the dinos afterwards.

I guess if you do it more than once a day it wouldn't be worth it. But you can't spend marks that fast anyway.

The idea is really just that since Undine Infiltration and Viscous Cycle give ~100 Marks on Elite, I can cycle through the alts every three or so days and thus ease the daily burden considerably. It'll be a good thing once the new module for NW launches in two weeks, so I can continue getting the rest of my alts leveled using Sponsorships when the initial four are done.

Viscous cycle aka No Win Only With Undine And 50 times Harder Especially With A PUG ? Yeah in that case I think the Zone is better.

    Or is that infiltration?

Nah Viscous Cycle takes around 15 minutes on average and isn't particularly hard. The only thing to it is that you should bring a FAW boat, much of the difficulty comes from the movement debuffs and teleports you face on part of the Undine, but if you have 360 degree field of destruction they aren't a challenge.

I'm thinking of the other one then, where you have the 3 lines and all the portals to close. I've never been in a group that even managed to close the first portal.

That one's not exactly hard either, just mindbogglingly tedious and time-consuming.

Well yeah so why not do the zone then, that's not tedious. Although I have massive lag, don't know if it's just me or the server. It's quite a clusterfuck if there are many players

Viscous Cycle and Undine Infiltration take less time and pay better for repping.

If you have slavers you can farm the Borg cube at the end of Assimilation.Skip the tac report and just launch slavers. The Undies don't spawn and the borg cube will get to 0 and not despawn.

You do get 3 Injection Stuffies from the Battlezone though, although it doesn't seem they're good for much apart from acquiring more minerals

Well, only if you stick around for the whole thing, and like I said I just find it to take too long when running rep on multiple alts. 1 Injection thingie per alt per go is enough for me.

Fun fact: even if you only capture 1 point in the BZ and then warp out, you still get the daily mark bonus of 50. No need to stick around for the injectifiers.

    Let me make the math.

    You need 500 x 3, 500 x 3 and 750 x 4, thats 6000 Marks for all the Gear projects.
Now you need 5 x 3, 2 x 3 and 2 x 3 Injectors. overall 29 Injectors for those projects, since you cannot use Sponsorship token you are looking at rougly 27 days at best (assuming running all projects around the clock) so you would be exactly 2 Injectors short.

Let me put this way ... getting 29 Injectors is easy compared to 6k Marks, its was always Marks were the grind is and 29 Injectors just amounts to 9k Dilithium in the end.
